Hutchings Vol 8 Folio 365 Page Two: In the left margin by points 1, 2 and 3 is written Fiat, looks like a last name of Higgins and then a date of Oct 26/29 TO THE SUPREME COURT OF NEWFOUNDLAND OR ONE OF THE HONOURABLE THE JUDGES THEREOF: The petition of Bertram Bastow, of St. John's, Truckman, sets forth as follows:
Your petitioner prays that Letters of Administration of the estate of the deceased may be granted to him, and as in duty bound he will ever pray. Dated at St. John's this 24th day of October, A. D. 1929. Petitioner signature of Bertram Bastow At the bottom of the page in handwritten script I, Annie Thorne, hereby consent to the appointment of Bertram Bastow as Administrator (c.b.a. ??? cannot tell the letters) of the estate of my later father Ernest Augustus Bastow. On the left side of her note it looks like the word Admin: then the signature for Leslie R. Curtis Page Three: "A" initials RK beside this letter THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ME, ERNEST AUGUSTUS BASTOW of St. John's, Newfoundland, Agent of the Society for the Protection of Animals. I give, devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my dear wife Margaret Ann Bastow absolutely. And I appoint my said wife sole executrix of this my will.
