Will of Robert Baker from Newfoundland will books volume 5 page 613-614 probate year 1892 Last will and testament This is the last will and testament of me Robert Baker formerly of the County of Somerset England, but more recently of Dog Cove near Trinity Harbour, Trinity Bay in the island of Newfoundland, being of sound mind do hereby make publish and declare the same hereby revoking and annulling all other, or former dispositions of my property. I give and bequeath to my "grand niece" Mary Jane Baker, also of Dog Cove, spinster, all my lands, dwelling house stores stages flakes, outhouses, buildings of every deception; household furniture beds and bedding, with exception of bed regularly used by me, which said bed together with a sealing gun I give and bequeath to my esteemed friend Robert Butler. And it is my desire, and I do hereby give unto my grand niece Mary Jane Baker all property of every kind and description together with what money I may be possessed of at the time of my decease whether it be in the Savings Bank or in my own possession after paying a reasonable sum for my funeral expenses Robert his x mark Baker Trinity twenty first September 1887 Signed sealed published and declared in our presence in the presence of each other in his presence & at his request we do hereunto subscribe our names as witnesses the same being first read over and explained Gilbert Hy. Cole Augustus Tibbs Codicil no 1 In addition to what I have stated on the foregoing page I Robert Baker being in sound mind do further give and bequeath to my aforesaid grand niece Mary Jane Baker whatever funds I may have to my credit in the Commercial Bank of Newfoundland and I hereby authorize & empower her to get possession of the same. I do further will and appoint Mr. John Rendell of Isaac to be my executor for the carrying out the intentions & direction of this my last will & testament Robert x Baker Trinity 30th day May 1889.
