Last will and Testament of
Margaret Ash of Carbonear
Spinster deceased

      In the name of God Almighty Amen
I Margaret Ash of Robert of Carbonear in the Northern District of Newfoundland being weak in body and sound in mind and memory and knowing that it is appointed unto all people once to die, do hereby make and ordain this my last will and Testament. I bequeath my soul to Almighty God and my body to the earth. I do also bequeath my property and estate as follows: That is to say.
I bequeath to my cousin Elihu Ash all that piece or parcel of land, now owned by me as child and lawful heir of the late Robert Ash, District and Colony aforesaid excluding from the Church of England ground on the North and running to within fifty feet of the main street, bounded on the East by my uncle Edward Ash and on the west by Joshua Ash. I bequeath also to the aforesaid Elihu Ash all the houses and outhouses situated on the aforesaid described land. I bequeath also to the aforesaid Elihu Ash my part being one third of that land and property situated to the south of Water Street bounded on the south by waters of Carbonear Harbour on the east by Joseph O’Dell’s land, on the west by Joshua Ash’s land and on the north by Water Street. I bequeath also to the aforesaid Elihu Ash my part being one third of that land and property situated on the north side of Water Street and bounded on the north by my land stated and described in the first part of this my will on the east by my uncle Edward Ash’s land on the west by Joshua Ash’s land and on the south by Water Street. I bequeath also to the aforesaid Elihu Ash all that piece or parcel of land situated on the North side of Hearts Delight Road about two and a half miles from the main beach of Carbonear. I bequeath also the aforesaid Elihu Ash all my personal effects now possessed by me.
I witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand this third day of April one thousand eight hundred and ninety nine. (Sgd) Margaret her x mark Ash. Signed in the presence of (sgd) John Ash (sgd) Eugene mark x Ash

      I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the last will and Testament of Margaret Ash deceased
