Will of Alfred Andrews from Newfoundland will books volume 7 page 296-298 probate year 1903

The last will of Alfred Andrews, late of
Upper Gulley, Conception Bay, Fisherman, deceased
.

          In the name of God. Amen. I Alfred Andrews of Upper Gully south shore in the district of Harbor Main Newfoundland Fisherman and Farmer, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and Testament First. I give and bequeath to my son Ebenezer half of my dwelling house (the east part) half of my stable and half of my cellar, the kitchen garden and that piece of meadow land bound on the north by Charles Dawe's land, south by main road, east by road leading to waterside and west by the river. I also give and bequeath to my son Ebenezer an equal share with his brothers of the three blocks of land that I possess on the south side of the main road. I also give and bequeath to my son Ebenezer the third part of my caplin seine two boats, fishing gear herring net and garden implements to work the land with. To my wife Lavinia I give and bequeath the west half of my dwelling house the other half of my stable and the other half of my cellar to be fully possessed by her while she is alive and remains in my name. I give and bequeath to my wife Lavinia and my son Ebenezer my horse carts harnesing and carriage. After the death of my wife Lavinia my son Ebenezer is to take possession of all that I have given and bequeathed to my wife and the land that the buildings are on. To my sons Benjamin, Samuel and Alfred I give and bequeath an equal share of the three blocks of land that I possess south of the main road.
To my son Samuel I give and bequeath that piece of cleared land situate north of the main road and bounded as follows north by my brother William's land south by Charles Dawe's land east by local road and west by the river To my son Alfred I give and bequeath that piece of land situate north of the main road and bounded as follows. North by my brother William's land, south by Charlie Dawe's land west by Heber Anderson's land and west by local road
My fishing room is to be equally divided between my four sons All my carpentering tools are to remain on the place. All the furniture that I possess is to remain in the house. Any article of furniture that my sons own they can remove. My wife Lavinia is to receive her support from the produce of the land during the term of her natural life while she remains in my name. As my son John William said that he did not want any share of my property I give and bequeath to him the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) If any of my sons return to settle down and work the land they are to be given their piece, a calf or a lamb if there should be a stock of cattle on the place. My daughter Lavinia is always to have a home on the place until she is married and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments, wills & bequests by me in anywise before named, willed and bequeathed, certifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 25 day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and two. Alfred his x mark Andrews (L.S.) Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Alfred Andrews as his last will and testament in the presence of us, (having been first read over) who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Francis F. Furneaux J.P. Commissioner of Supreme Court of Newfoundland Charles Dawe.

          I certify the foregoing to be a correct copy of the original will of Alfred Andrews.
