In re
ELIZABETH ANDERSON deceased.
In the name of God Amen. I Elizabeth
Anderson of St. John’s in the Island of Newfoundland, widow,
being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding, do make this my
last will and testament. First. I appoint George
J. Adams of St. John’s aforesaid Registrar of Deeds of Newfoundland,
my executor. Second, As to all my worldly goods
consisting of one dwelling house No. 161 Gower Street in the town of St. John’s
aforesaid and household furniture and also whatsoever moneys that I may possess
at the time of my death I give and dispose of as follows:
(a) The house above referred to and furniture
are to be sold by my Executor as soon as possible after my decease and the amount
realized at such sale with whatever other money I may die possessed of, is to
be divided among my two sons and my two grandsons (having first paid all my lawful
debts) in manner following:
(b) The whole estate is
to be divided into six parts. To my son Robert I
bequeath four parts. To my son William Stevenson one
part. To my grandsons, children of my deceased son James
Anderson, I bequeath
one part to be equally divided between them. With respect to the bequest to my grandchildren, sons of the late James
Anderson,
I direct that their share be deposited in the Newfoundland Savings Bank by
my executor and upon each attaining the age of twenty one years to be paid
over to them respectively. Elizabeth her X mark
Anderson. Signed, sealed and delivered in the
presence of us the subscribe- witnesses both present at the same time who in
the presence of the testator and in the presence of each other have hereunto
set our names as witnesses (the word “divided” having
been first inserted on the 14th line) the same having been first read over & explained
