Last Will and Testament of
William Abbott of St. John's
Telegraph Line Repairer, deceased.
This is the last will and Testament of me William
Abbott of St. John's Telegraph line repairer After the payment of
all my just debts and Testamentary expenses I give devise and bequeath as follows.
1. To my wife Esther Abbott the sum of four hundred dollars
and my household furniture.
2.
To my brother Patrick Abbott the sum of one hundred dollars.
3. To
my sister Ellen Lawlor the sum of Fifty dollars.
4. To my executors
hereinafter named the sum of Forty dollars for a high mass for the repose of
my soul. 5. To the Rev. William Jackman the sum of sixty dollars
for masses for the repose of my soul.
6. To my nephew William Abbott
son of Michael Abbott my watch.
7. To my nephew Harold Abbott son
of Michael Abbott my gun.
8. To my wife Esther Abbott my dwelling
house during her lifetime and after her death it is to go to my friend James
Sage, should he survive her.
9. I desire my executors hereinafter
named to erect a monument to my late father and mothers memory who are buried
at Topsail, also one to myself. 10. The rest and residue of my estate
to my son Michael Abbott. I appoint my son Michael
Abbott and my friend James
Sage executors of this my will.
Dated at St. John's this 23rd day
of September 1901. (Sgd) William x Abbott. Signed by the said Testator as and
for his last will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and
at his request and in the presence of each other have affixed our signatures
as witnesses. The same having been first read over and explained. (Sgd) J.
