The Grotto to Our Lady of Lourdes stands in front of the parish church at Lourdes. Constructed in 1987 to mark the 75th anniversary of the parish, it has since become a place of prayer and solace for parishioners and visitors
alike, and a tourist attraction on Newfoundland's Port au Port Peninsula.
Each year on August 15th, parishioners gather there to celebrate the feast
of the Assumption. On the same site is a cannon believed to be from a French
man-of-war of the 1800s, and a chruch bell from the old parish church.
The Grotto is located in Lourdes on Route 460, |
