Wesleyan - Methodist Church
Sandy Point, Bay St. George, Nfld.

The Wesleyan - Methodist Church, later known as the United Church of Canada established a church at Sandy Point about 1867. Rev. William Rex was the first clergyman.

The first church was voluntarily cut, and erected by the people at Sandy Point during the winter of 1883 - 1884. The church was boarded and shingled in 1884. On April 12 1885 Rev. Rex dedicated the church. It is unknown how long the church was used, but it is assumed that it was used well into the first half of the twentieth century.

Information taken from Turbulent Tides, A Social History of Sandy Point.
