Petition from South Side Harbour Grace, Island Cove, and Bishop's Cove

To the hororable the Executive Council.

The petition of the undersigned inhabitants of South Side Harbour Grace, Island Cove, and Bishop's Cove.

Humbly Sheweth:
That your petitioners have good reason to believe that
that application has either been, or will shortly be made to the
government by a few individuals in this locality to have the
terminus of the ferry boat removed further down the harbour.

That your petitioners would strongly urge your honorable
body the necessity of refusing such recommendation, as we consider
the present route of the boat the safest, shortest, and most
accomondating to the general travelling public.

That your petitioners firmly believe were such requisition
favourably entertained by the government, and the proposed
alteration completed, the interest of a large majority of the residents
of this neighborhood would be sacrificed, and that such alteration
would not only cause almost universal dissatisfaction, but would very
considerably lengthen the route, thereby exposing the boat and
passengers to increased danger.

Your petitioners would, therefore, respectfully advise
your Honorable council to make no alteration in the present route of
the Harbour Grace South Side ferry boat as in duty bound will ever pray.
