To the excellency Sir John Hawly Glover
HGCMG and council
May it please your excellency and council. We the undersigned inhabitants of
South Side Harbour Grace, Upper Island Cove and Bryants Cove beg leave to
approach your excellency. and to inform you respecting the removal of the Ferry Boat
from her former landing place on the South Side.
That it is in all respects unfair to the people of the above named districts and
dangerous in the highest degree for female and aged people to land at east wharf at
South Side and in every way inconvenient for business purposes.
And the few persons who has caused in an underhand manner her removal
have no other reason than their private ends.
And your petitioners will forever humbly pray be.
