The Archives is in the process of organizing its records and is not open to the public at present. Inquiries by mail or telephone are welcomed. Some records are restricted for reasons of privacy or because they contain information of a sensitive nature. Records of the activities of the Anglican Church in Newfoundland date from the early 18th century. In 1976 the Synod of Newfoundland decided to separate the single Diocese into three separate dioceses. Each diocesan synod maintains an archives where synod, diocesan, and parish records are kept.
The Archives for the Central Diocese maintains records of baptisms, marriages, burials and confirmations of its various parishes. They also maintain parish service records, minutes and correspondence of the diocese as well as some church artifacts. A finding aid of the holdings is currently in progress.
