This is to certify that WILLIAM FOWLOW of Trinity, north side, widower, and MARY GUPPY of Ship Cove, spinster, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, this seventh? day of December, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, William Fowlow and  Mary (X) Guppy, (X being her mark), in the presence of us: John (X) Jones, Robert (X) Guppy, Thomas (X) Fowlow, Ann (X) Guppy, Elizabeth (X) Rex?? (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that JOHN FOWLOW, of Trinity, North Side, bachelor, and ELIZABETH MOORE of Trinity, south side, spinster, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this tenth day of  December, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, John (X) Fowlow and Elizabeth (X) Moore,  (X being their marks), in the presence of us, Thomas (X) Fowlow, Providence (X) Fifield, Ann (X) Fowlow, Thomas (X) Fowlow, and William (X) Ivamy, (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

This is to certify that JOSEPH WISEMAN, of Cuckhold’s Cove, bachelor, and MARY ANN COLLINS, of Island Cove, spinster, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this twenty-fourth day of  December, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, Joseph (X) Wiseman and Mary Ann (X) Collins, (X being their marks), in the presence of us, James Morris, Robert Morris, Robert (X) Collins, Louisa (X) Moores, Louisa (X) Collins, and Emma?? (X) Wiseman, (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that ROBERT BANNISTER, bachelor, DIANA SHORT, spinster, both of Old Bonaventure, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this thirty-first day of  December, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, Robert (X) Bannister and Diana (X) Short, (X being their marks), in the presence of us, George (X) Bailey, John (X) Hookey, Sarah (X) Hookey, and Susannah (X) Stone, (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that WILLIAM ABBOTT, bachelor, of Bonavista, and MARTHA BARNES, spinster, of English Harbour,  were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this first day of  January in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty- Seven, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, William (X) Abbott and Martha (X) Barnes, (X being their marks), in the presence of us, Francis Barnes, George Barnes, Arabella Abbott, and Charlotte Abbott, witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that DOUGALD WHITE, bachelor, and HELEN CROCKER, spinster, both of Trinity, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this sixth day of January, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, Dougald (X) White and Helen (X) Crocker, (X being their marks), in the presence of us, Stephen (X) Crocker, Mary Ann Crocker, James Collis, James M. Collis, James Crocker, Frances J.? Collis, Sarah Pittman, and Elizabeth Wok? (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that GEORGE SPURRELL, bachelor, of Old Bonaventure, and GRACE BROWN, spinster, of Thoroughfare in Trinity Bay, and a native of Spaniards Bay in Conception Bay,  were married at Old Bonaventure, on this second day of  December, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Six , by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, George Spurrell and Grace (X) Brown, (X being her mark), in the presence of us, William (X) Stone, Charles (X) Spurrell, Susannah (X) Stone, Joseph (X) Hookey, and Jacob (X) Pitcher, (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

This is to certify that JUBAL? CARBERRY, bachelor, of Old Bonaventure, and ANN POWELL, spinster, of Trinity, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this second day of  May in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven , by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, Jubal? Carberry and Ann (X) Powell, (X being her mark), in the presence of us William Luccas, George Cook, Elizabeth Hall?, and Rosa Bartlett, witnesses to the said marriage.

 

This is to certify that WILLIAM BANNISTER, widower, of Robin Hood, and ELLEN ETHERIDGE, spinster, of Salmon Cove, were married at Salmon Cove Church, on this seventeenth day of May, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven, by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister of St. Paul’s Church, Trinity. .

This is to certify that JOHN DAY, bachelor, of Salmon Cove, and SARAH BARNES, spinster, of the same place, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this fifteenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-Seven , by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, John (X) Day and Sarah (X) Barnes, (X being their marks), in the presence of us, Samuel (X) Dey, James (X) Etheridge, William (X) Doolan, Ann (X) Nurse, and Margaret (X) Bestone, (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.

 

Transcriber’s note: The first witness wrote his surname “Dey”as shown, instead of “Day”, as might be expected.   

 

This is to certify that JOSEPH DYKE, bachelor, and SUSANNAH BROWN, spinster, both of Salvage, in Bonavista Bay, were married at St. Paul’s Church, Trinity, on this thirteenth day of October, in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Seven , by me, Benjamin Smith, Minister.

 

This marriage was solemnized between us, Joseph Dyke and Susannah (X) Brown, (X being her mark), in the presence of us, John (X) Woodford, Henry (X) Lamb?, Joseph (X) Chrispry?, Jacob Pitcher, and Elizabeth Dramm? (X being their marks), witnesses to the said marriage.
