ANDERSON, Alastair "Gordon"

Of Hantsport, originally from Corner Brook, NL in his 84th year, died peacefully in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville on Saturday, December 15, 2018. Left to mourn are his wife of 60 years, Sheila (nee Hedges); sons, Stephen (Monica), Cow Head, NL and Paul (Brenda), Gander, NL; sister, Jean, Windsor; grandchildren, Beth, Cow Head, NL; Charlene (Brian), Gander, NL, and Dwayne (Meagan), St. John's, NL; great-grandchildren, Carson, Aaron, Gabriel and Martin. Besides his parents, Harry and Allison (nee Dean) of Newcastle on Tyne, England, Gordon was predeceased by sisters, Margaret and Cecil (Corner Brook, NL) and brother-in-law, Parker Regan (Windsor). Gordon worked 25 years for the Bank of Montreal, serving in Curling, Corner Brook, Botwood and St. John's, NL and Moncton, NB and Halifax. He enjoyed a second career with Modern Paving in St. John's, NL before retiring to Hantsport. He was an active member and contributor to the Avon United Church, Hantsport. He will be remembered for his gregarious laugh and participation in community activities, especially cards. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317), where a funeral service celebrating Gordon's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Beth Johnston officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Elmcroft Reception Centre. Interment will take place following the reception in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Roberta Billard, 87
, of Dieppe, NB, passed away on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at the Moncton Hospital. Born in Channel-Port aux Basque, NL, she was the daughter of the late Baxter and the late Grace (née: Feltham) Squarey. She is survived by her husband, Robert; two sons: Robert (Alison) of Guysborough, NS and Baxter (Liliane Pinet) of Dieppe, NB; one sister, Leona (Jack) Marshall of Corner Brook, NL; one brother, Arthur Squarey of Channel-Port aux Basque, NL; 5 grandchildren: Christopher, James, Rebecca, Megan and Robert; 4 great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Emma, Owen and Nora, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be celebrated from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 at 2 pm. BRADSHAW, Donald Gerald

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Gerald Bradshaw announce his passing on Monday, December 24, 2018 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 51 years Gerri (nee Murphy); son Don Bradshaw (Deanna Shears); sisters: Jean (Sel) Warren, Joan (Lindsey) Lebouthillier and Linda (Dave) Marshall; brother Richard Bradshaw; sisters-in-law: Molly (Bill) Burke and Catherine (Joe) Mahon; brothers-in-law: Bill (Jean) Murphy and Frank (Clare) Murphy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Mary Bradshaw, sister Mary Garland, brothers Norm and Randy Bradshaw, sister-in-law Sonya Bradshaw. Special thank you to Dr. McCarthy, Dr. Welsh, Dr. Whitten, Dr. Dunn, nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit, Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. BROPHY, Effie Florence (nee Payne)

We are in disbelief and feel such heartache with the passing of our beloved mom, Effie Florence Brophy (nee Payne), who passed away on Saturday, December 29th, 2018, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, in her 79th year. We are the family that we are today, thanks to our Mom. She was a hard worker and instilled her values upon us. With a comical streak about her, she brought a constant supply of love and laughter. To her many friends and family, her sense of humour and loyalty made her like no other. All of us will forever cherish and deeply miss our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend that she was to us all. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Marlene (Danny), Leander (Charlene), Geraldine (Ray), Melita (Ralph), Leslie (Paula), Byron (Jackie), and Nell (Dana); her grandchildren: Christopher, Candice (Ian), Justin (Susan), Jason, Demetri, Matthew, Katelyn, Jason, Jennifer, Jennifer, Brandon (Jessica), and Dylan; her great-grandchildren: Natalie, Daniel, Wyatt, Caiden, and Cameron who spent so much time with his Nan; brother Kevin Payne (Rowena), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends, as well as her ACW family. Effie was predeceased by her husband Stedman Brophy on May 7th, 2018, her parents James and Fanny Payne, her brothers: Willie Payne, Rendell Payne (Dora), Max Payne (Ellen), and Edgar Payne (Eileen); her sisters: Sadie Powell (Clayton), Blanche Brown (Joe), Rachel Gushue (Ed), Mary Power (Matt), and Rhoda Payne; parents-in-law: Stedman and Rose Brophy, sisters-in-law: Rosetta Robinson, Freda Biggin, Dora Payne, and Faith Sheppard. Special thanks to caregivers Elaine Perry and Rosemary House, paramedics Denny Jewer and Amy Oakley, as well as the staff and Doctors at W.M.R.Hospital - your care for our mom was greatly appreciated. BYRNE, Mary Agnes

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Byrne announce her passing on Tuesday, December 11th, 2018 at the age of 72 years. She will be forever remembered, loved, and missed by her husband and best friend, Dennis. As well as three sons: Dean (Joan) Byrne in Elmsdale, Nova Scotia, Chris (Pam) Byrne in Deer Lake, Jim Woodrow in Corner Brook, two daughters: Arlene (Clayton) Mitchelmore in Happy-Valley Goose Bay, Labrador, Trina (Alvaro) Byrne-Yaques in Brampton, Ontario, ten grandchildren: Rielley, Shane, Courtney, Chelsie, Clayton Junior, Blair, Breanna, Jerrica, Justin and Jack, four great-grandchildren: Brooke, Reed, Landon, Rylan, as well as many close relatives from the Carroll, Byrne and Maher families. She was predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Catherine. Mary was born in St. John's on May 30th, 1946. She lived in Goose Bay, Labrador for many years with her husband Dennis and moved to Stephenville in 1984. Mary enjoyed the games of curling and golf and was a fantastic cook/baker. She expressed her appreciation for her loved ones by making them hand stitched quilts and other artisan crafts. She loved spending time with family and friends. You could often find her out on the golf course with the girls or walking around Ned's Pond with the crew from "The Valley". She was involved in a wide variety of organizations around town which included: Stephenville Figure Skating Club, The Caribou Curling Club, and raising money for the Janeway Hospital. Mary had a large circle of friends from every walk of life. People gravitated towards her beautiful smile and warm heart. She accepted everyone just as they were. Family and friends will be celebrating Mary's life at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville on Sunday, December 16th from 2-5 pm. The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone for their kindness and empathy during this difficult time.

CONNOLLY, Francis Cortland

Francis Cortland Connolly
of Corner Brook Newfoundland passed away peacefully Dec., 7th 2018 at age 55. Predeceased by mother Sylvia Wellon, father Gerald Connolly, brother Wayne (Cathy) Connolly. Cortland is survived by his stepmother Margaret Connolly, children Dennis, Sarah (Lionel) and Thomas Connolly. Grandchildren Cortland and Jonathan Connolly. Siblings Joseph Bennett, Matthew (Dixie) Connolly, Mitch (Clorissa) Connolly, Richard (Tina) Connolly, Donna Baker, DD (Paul) Starling, Kelly (John) MacIsaac, and Kerry Wellon. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Burial will take place Wednesday, December 12th at 1 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens located at 3200 Oliver road, Thunder Bay. DUNPHY, Darlene Sheree

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing at home in the presence of her family, Darlene Dunphy in her 51st year. Leaving to mourn her husband Tim, children Andrew (Melissa), Jack (Becky), grandchildren: Brooklynn, Peyton, Charlie, daughter Tamara, mother Sandra Ryan and special sister friend Michele. Predeceased by grandparents Eileen and Gord Hiscock, father and mother-in-law Jack and Marcheta Dunphy. Darlene will be missed by her extended family, friends and her loyal and regular customers at the Main Level Cafe, Millbrook Mall. At Darlene's request, cremation has taken place. He leaves to mourn his wife of 38 years Rhonda (nee White); his sons: Jay (Becky), Justin (Carrie) and John (Sandy); the joys of his retirement, his grandsons: Odin, Draco and Ivan; his brothers: Peter (Connie), Jack (Joanne); mother and father-in-law: Marie and Charlie White; in-laws: Evelyn Shields, Dorothy and Mike Coleman, Rick and Donna Butt, Dave and Sandy White. It is with great sadness that the family of Connie Finn announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her three daughters on December 31, 2018. She leaves to mourn with cherished memories Deborah (Mark) Finn, Dianne (Tom) Wheeler and Stefanie Finn. Also, her five beloved grandchildren Caroline, Sarah, Andrew, Mark and Samantha. As well, as her precious dog Bella. Connie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, John G. Finn, her parents James and Pearl Morrison, her siblings William Morrison and Nancy Gibbard. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, January 4, 2019 from the hours of 1:30-4:00 p.m. at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Corner Brook. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Brenda (Rod) LeBoubon, Darrell Foote, Stephen (Joanne) Foote, Pauline Walsh and Jason (Tonya) Foote; grandchildren: Rodney (Amy), Rhonda, Rebecca, Jenna, Natalie and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Alexander, Xavier, Izaiah and Maggie; sisters: Phyllis Whalen, Madeline Whiffin and Helen (Bill) Stentaford; brother Jerry (Flo) Murphy; sister-in-law Myra Murphy; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Jackie Hann (Charles), Gussie Bennett (Paul), Carol Ford and Todd Ford (Mary-Lou); grandchildren: Shawn Hann (Paula), Nadine Hann (Brad), Gregory Lemoine (Erin), Sam Ford and Christopher Roche; great-grandchildren: Jordan Duffney-Hann and Ryder Duffney-Hann; sisters: Betty Goodluins, June Lundrigan and Wanda Tarbett; brother Cecil Skeard; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband John Augustus "Gus" Ford, parents Hebert and Mary Skeard, sisters Vera Abbott and Hilda Edwards, brothers Herbert, Ivan and Leslie Skeard. FRYE, Albert
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Albert Frye announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing on Friday, December 21st, 2018 at the age of 84 years. He leaves Patricia, his children Goldie Frye, Debbie (Bob) Turner and Robert (Tracy) Frye, his special grandson Jordan, his sister Florence along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Mary Frye, his sisters Winnie Gaudet and baby Goldie Frye, his brother George and brothers-in-law Vincent Tobin and Michael Gaudet. The family will be receiving friends at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville on Friday, December 28th, 2018 from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 29th, 2018 at 11 am from St. Augustine's Anglican Church on Hillview Avenue. Inurnment will take place at a later time. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be greatly appreciated. The family would to express their appreciation to the staff of the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre for the care given to Albert during his stay.

GAULTON, Gladys

Passed away peacefully at the age of 98 years, Gladys Gaulton at Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre where she has resided just in the last few years. Mom was born in Flowers Cove to Suzy & Richard Norman. At 16 years old she worked at the Grenfell Mission in St. Anthony. Then moved to Corner Brook with her parents and met her husband, Clayton Gaulton. They married in 1944, moved to Cox's Cove where they raised their seven children. She was predeceased by her husband Clayton in 1979. Our mother was an active member of the St. Nicholas Anglican Church & ACW of Cox's Cove. In 1985 she moved to McIver's to reside with her oldest daughter & husband, Marie & Walter Park almost 30 years. The rest of her family will always be grateful to them for seeing to their mom. While residing with them she helped raise twins, her special great grandchildren, Shannon Park & Shawna Park-Crawford. The family would like to give a Big Thank You to Dr. Robert Brake who came to see her every day and sometimes twice in her last days. Another Big Thank You to the Western Health Staff on the 3rd floor, Bake Apple South Wing, you all gave so much love and care to our Mom while she was a resident but especially in her last days. We can never thank you enough. Special Thank You to her friend, Dorothy Lovell who would visit her in McIvers and have beautiful chats. With fond and loving memories, she is survived by her seven children: son Clyde (Elaine) Regina, Sask; daughters: Marie Park, McIvers, Susan (Tommy) Perry, Gillams, Helen Robinson, Howley, Jeanette (Harold) Russell, Corner Brook, Joan Park, McIvers, son Edmund (Cavelle), Cox's Cove, brother Alex (Susie) Norman, Corner Brook, brother-in-law Curtis (Nettie) Gaulton, Cox's Cove, sister-in-law Gertrude Hynes, Curling, Marjorie Gaulton, Corner Brook, 16 grandchildren: Brad Gaulton, Elaine (Bill) Lovell, Dana Park, Lynette Park, Cindy (Fred) Park, Colleen (Gord) Peck, Pamela (Bob) Kendrick, Brian Perry, Nancy (Kenny) Pennell, Connie (Reg) Kennedy, Cathy Caron, Paul (Alicia) Osmond, Oral (Diane) Russell, Amy (Allan) Dell, Lori Lynn Russell, Dennis (Ivi) Park. HAIRE, Theresa Alma (nee Ryan)

Passed peacefully away on Thursday December 13th, in her 90th year, our dear mother Theresa Alma Haire (Ryan) at Hilltop Nursing Home in Cambridge, Ontario where she had resided for over 6 years. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack) Patrick Haire in December 1975 and her parents Joseph and Stella Ryan of Pasadena. She is survived by daughters Lorraine (Dennis) and Corinne (Steve), four sons, Joe (Kerry), Brian (Michele), Cecil (Lynn), Leo and her step-children Basil (Mary) and Janet (Ollie). As well leaving to mourn are her grandchildren, Tyler, Natasha, Sara, Josh, Alix, Kyle, Cameron, Olivia, Natalie, Julia, Jackson, Gina, Rebecca, Trevor, Brenda, David, Douglas, Nicole, Kim and Jennifer and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four siblings, Stella, Florine, Pat and Jean and dozens of other family members and friends. Anyone who knew Theresa knew how important her faith was to her. She served her Catholic community as Parish Secretary at All Hallows Parish in Corner Brook and as Eucharistic Minister at All Hallows, Holy Rosary Parish in Pasadena and St. Mary's of the Visitation Parish in Cambridge, Ontario. It is with great sadness that the family of Sandy Hiscock announce his passing in Guelph, Ontario on December 4, 2018. Sandy was born in Corner brook and moved to Ontario many years ago. Leaving to mourn his twin sister Sandra Ryan, Corner Brook, sisters: Terry Gullage (Fred ), Corner Brook, Gail Stratton, Ottawa, Sheree MacDonald (Jason), Mount Pearl. Brother: Randy Hiscock (Carol), Barrie. Nieces and nephews: Stephen Gullage, Jennifer Gullage-Payne, Darlene Dunphy, Rick Ryan, Dan Ryan, Lorne Corzine, Bernard Hiscock, Adrienne Devost, Julie Stratton, Kathryn Maloney, Jeremy MacDonald. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Eileen Hiscock and niece Pamela Hiscock. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. KEATING, Elizabeth (Sally)

It is with heavy hearts, but with much gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Elizabeth (Sally) Keating, nee Aucoin, at the age of 97 years. She was born in Stephenville April 12, 1921 and died at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, St. John's, December 30, 2018. She was predeceased by her grandson, Christopher Snook, and her husband William Hynes Keating, her parents Adolph and Emilia Aucoin (nee Lainey), her siblings, Donatha Gaudon, Mary White, Gertrude Alexander, Bertha Alexander, Theresa Delyle, Agnes Benoit, Patricia Jones, and her brothers Raymond and Norbert. Leaving to mourn her children: Geraldine (Harold Stapleton), Mount Pearl, Marilyn Keating, Halifax, Carolyn (Larry Repp), Griffin, Georgia, Allanna, (Lloyd Tavenor), Cape Ray, Delano, Fort McMurray, Raemonda Keating, Stephenville, and Anne Pelley, Mount Pearl; her sister Lorna MacNeil, Massachusetts, and brother Melvin, New Brunswick; her grandchildren: Anne & Mark Stapleton, Clifton, Dwayne and Lloyd Tavenor, Cindy Keating, Esther Ruecker and Beth Wall, Abigail Snook, Sarah and Emily Pelley, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a large circle of nieces and nephews. Sally's family would like to acknowledge their gratitude for the compassion and care she received from the wonderful staff during the last year of her life at St. Pat's and especially while they attended to her in the Palliative Care Suite at the home during her final days. As a family, we are thankful for the support we received from the staff and Pastoral Care. Cremation has taken place at Sally's request. She leaves behind to mourn her husband, Jack Taylor and daughter, Myrna Bookman (Steve) and granddaughter Christine Demers (Steve) and great-grandson Matthew. She also leaves behind her sister Edna Piercey of Bay Roberts and brother Woodrow Brake of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Ontario. She is predeceased by her parents Walter and Muriel Brake of Meadows and sister Louise Miller (Corner Brook) and Inez Dearling (Toronto). THOMPSON, Muriel

Muriel Thompson (nee Normore)
passed away peacefully at the Corner Brook Long Term Care on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 104 years. The daughter of George and Annie Normore, Muriel was born at Botwood August 4, 1914 one week after the onset of WWI. She moved with her family to the Bay of Islands, eventually settling at Gearyville, Corner Brook. Widowed at age 26 after just two years of marriage when her husband Henry (Harry) Wells was killed working on the railway, Muriel emigrated at the beginning of WWII to Toronto where she worked in factories devoted to the War Effort. There she later met her second husband James Thompson whom she married on Sept 10, 1966. They moved to Pasadena, NL in 1968 and back to Gearyville, Corner Brook a few years later where Muriel was an avid observer of the life in the Harbour, and an active bowler, walker and motorist well into her 90's. Muriel was widowed the second time on May 31, 1981. She moved to Mountain View Estates in 2007 and from there to Corner Brook Long Term Care in 2010, successfully determined to never have to move again. Muriel was a social being and fully participated in the social and recreational life wherever she lived including CBLTC. Predeceased by her five siblings Grace, Ernest, Clarence, Calvin and Beatrice, Muriel leaves to mourn her nieces Mary Normore and Linda Bradburn, nephews Calvin Jr. and Wayne Normore, and Sidney Thompson, great-nephew Douglas Tapp and their families and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Ave. Corner Brook on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at the same funeral home on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10 am. Expressions of sympathy in the form of flowers or donations to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or the Corner Brook Long Term Care would be gratefully welcomed.
