TIZZARD, Gordon
Born: June 9th, 1931
Passed in: Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Passed on: December 19th, 2013

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Gordon Tizzard. Gord passed away peacefully December 19th, 2013 at Western Memorial Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was 82. Gord leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary (they said it wouldn't last!), his son Lee and his sister Ruth. Predeceased by his grandson Adam and his best friend Michael. And loved by his many dear friends, especially Uschi. Anyone who knew Gordon was uplifted by his love of life and his devilish sense of humour. As a younger man, he was the pied piper for the Butt, Fraser, Hatch and Monaghan children. As a CBC Manager, he was dedicated and kind, the 'best boss ever' according to his friend, Kathy. A lover of great jazz and awed by aviation, all who knew Gord waited with anticipation every morning for his clever, sharp witted and ironic emails. Gordon will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family guest book may be signed by visiting www.fillatre.ca

WATERMAN, Kevin Gerald
Born: July 22nd, 1952

The world has lost a kind and gentle human being, Kevin Waterman of Gander, who had been dealing with several health issues for three years. Kevin is predeceased by his parents, Gertie and Fred; sister, Margaret Rose; brother, Elmo; nephew, Kristofer Waterman; brothers-in-law: Ronnie Cull, Robert McClean and Joseph Finch; sisters-in-law: Hazel Waterman and Geraldine Waterman. Left to honor his memory are: his wife and best friend of 38 years, Paula; his much loved and cherished daughter, Jillian; parents-in-law, Walter and Helena Cull; brothers: Angus, Wayne (Margrit) and Dennis (Betty); sisters: Marion Evans (Angus), Maxine McClean, Jean Finch and Deanna Smith (Bill); brothers-in-law: Barry Cull (Barbara) and Dwayne Cull (Barbara); special sister-in-law, Deneen Cull (Corrie Davis, Claire); and many close and caring friends from Gander, and also from across the province and the rest of Canada, who have provided support on so many levels during this difficult journey. Kevin also leaves behind a large extended circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, former colleagues, fellow Rotarians, and his devoted canine companion, Molly. Anyone who knew Kevin knew that he embraced all aspects of life fully, until ill health curtailed this. However, even this he accepted with his usual equanimity and sense of humor. His greatest passion was his love for family, followed by: sports, especially hockey, which he played twice weekly until two years ago, and his beloved Maple Leafs; travel (having visited 16 countries); the outdoors; and his hobby of photography. Kevin's career in municipal recreation spanned 37 years, beginning in Botwood before being employed for 30 years by the town of Gander. Wherever he travelled, he was a proud ambassador for his adopted community of Gander. He was a mentor to the many students employed to run Gander's summer recreation programs, and will be remembered by them for his positive outlook, creativity and integrity. He also volunteered extensively on various committees, at both the provincial and national levels, receiving many awards and accolades. He has been recognized by his peers as a "truly passionate, dedicated and sincere recreation leader". Kevin has been cremated, as was his wish. A funeral service to celebrate a life well-lived was held at Fraser Road United Church on January 2, 2014. Internment will be at a later date. Donations in Kevin's memory will be gratefully accepted for Gander Special Olympics and Gander S.P.C.A. or a charity of one's choice. Arrangements entrusted to Stacey's funeral home.
