II, he served with distinction with the U.S. Army Signals Corp in the Pacific

Cotton's works) from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1959.
He accepted a position as one of the original members of the English Department

appointee and later Chairman of the Board of Governors that oversaw St. Jerome's
and St. Mary's Catholic High Schools in Kitchener. Dr. Dust was tireless in
his support for full provincial funding for Catholic high schools and in fundraising
efforts prior to the institution of full support. He loved his family, his
faith, English literature, rare books and bibliography in general, a good vigorous
intellectual debate on almost any topic, and his pet cats - not necessarily

admission to Stirling Heights, Alvin had in-home care through the Seniors for
Seniors agency and the family is grateful to all his caregivers, particularly
Karen Knechtel. The kindness of clergy in performing the rites of Anointing
of the Sick and Last Rites are appreciated. Funeral Mass will be celebrated
at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Waterloo, Dr. Dust's home parish, on Wednesday,
