NIPPARD, Cecil Eric
Stephenville

We wish to announce the passing of Mr. Cecil E. Nippard on December 12th, 2006, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville at the age of 71 years. Dad was a plumber in the area, was well known for his demeanor, and his way of turning a phrase. He was also recognized for his use of some unique Newfoundland words. The terms "firk" and "Scroup" will live on!!! Dad loved life but he especially loved his family! He considered his wife, children and grandchildren as his greatest assets. Dad loved a good meal, a good laugh, and a good game of Yahtzee! Dad leaves behind a large circle of friends. In particular, we would  like to thank and recognize Mr. Eric Collins. Dad worked for Eric but he was much more than an employer. Eric was a friend in the truest sense of the word and he looked forward to his visits. Thanks are extended to all of the church groups who so fervently prayed for Dad's health over the last months. Thank you especially to Pastor Shawn and Pastor Mary Bowers who were there by his side until the end. Your presence and prayer comforted him! He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sarah Elizabeth, three sons: Eric (Sandra) of Stephenville, Richard (Jackie) of Stephenville, Howard (Joanne) of Halifax, Nova Scotia, five daughters: Wanda (Steve) Metcalf of Whitby, Ontario, Paula (Louis) Meaney of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Carolyn (Don) Conron of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Susanne Nippard and special friend, Tina of St. John's, Annette Nippard of Halifax, Nova Scotia, three brothers: Alec (Doreen) Nippard of Scarborough, Ontario, Garfield (Ettie) Nippard of Ajax, Ontario, Wilfred (Edith) Nippard of Embree, NL, one sister, Meta (Ronald) Barnett of Appalacia, Virginia, USA, 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his in-laws, the Mercer families & his mother-in-law, Mrs. Winnie Mercer and a large number of nieces, nephews, friends and his very special cat, Buster. He was predeceased by his daughter, Paulette Michelle Nippard, his parents, Hubert and Mary Nippard, one brother, Roland Nippard. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 16th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Pentecostal Church, Carolina Avenue, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

CROCKER, Paul Lemuel
Age 50

It is with broken hearts that Paul's family announce his passing on December 11, 2006, in Saint John Regional Hospital, succumbing to injuries received earlier in the day in an industrial accident. He was born in Corner Brook, N.L., where his loving parents, Jim and Ruby Crocker, still reside. He is survived by his only love and wife of 27 years, Heather; his beloved children, Alex and Alana, all of Dartmouth. He also leaves to mourn sister, Denise (Kaj) Hedin and their children Caroline and James of Calgary; brother, Brian (May) Crocker and their son Shawn of Ghana; and sister, Vicki of Corner Brook, as well as Heather's family, Calvin and Ruby Chaffey and Barbara and Mark Jackson of Edmonton. Paul was a highly skilled diesel mechanic, leaving Newfoundland in 1977 to work in Edmonton. He and Heather returned east in 1981 where by 1985 he became a co-owner of the former Provincial Diesel Repair in Burnside. He worked long and hard to build the successful business which was sold in 1997. His reputation as a mechanic and mentor was widely known. Never one to sit idle, he became self-employed and worked mainly for Waterworks Construction, recently accepting the new challenge of becoming a licensed crane operator. Besides being a devoted family man, Paul's other main passion in life was scuba diving. He spent many happy hours in the water with his diving buddies, preferring the high tech world of wreck diving off our coast. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, and father and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Capable, dependable, a rock to lean on and to learn from, that was our Paul. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. There will be no visitation by family request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations in Paul's memory to a charity of choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences are available by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
