Passed away at her home in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, November 30, 2002 in her 89th year. Predeceased by her husband John (1990) and her little daughter, Sheila (1951). Giving thanks for her life of gentleness, compassion and love are her children, Geraldine Smith (Bill), Peter (Verna), Eugene (Carol Ann), Gerard (Maria), all of London, Ont.; Frank (Carolyn), Stephenville; Loretta Chard-Kean (Sam), St. John's; Marie Colbourne (Barry), Clarenville; Sheila Parsons (Ed), Monica Fillier (Jim), Corner Brook and John (Judy), Yellowknife, NWT as well as twenty-four grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Also left with fond memories are her step-brothers and sisters, Bernard Hickey (Dot), Toronto; Irene Norton (Bob), Connecticut, USA, Gary Hickey, St. John's and Theresa Shamon, Boston, USA as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at St. Stephen's Parish, West Street, Stephenville on Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Palliative Care Program, Health and Community Services Western.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Theresa M. Benoit announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Friday, November 29, 2002 at the age of 55 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Harold C. and three sons: Dion (Annette) of Brampton, Ontario, Charles (Cathy) of Ship Cove, Marcel of Etobicoke, Ontario, and four brothers: Alex Jesso, Wallace (Mary) Jesso, Hubert (Georgina) Jesso, Lawrence Jesso, all of Ship Cove and two sisters: Julia (Larry Alexander) of Ship Cove, Mary Estoppey of Stephenville and four grandchildren: Joshua, Dion Charles, Nicholas, Carissa and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Riza Jesso and her sister, Jeanette and brothers, Adolph, Peter, Benjamin and Donny. Friends may call at Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Piccadilly on Monday. Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Piccadilly with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Ship Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Victor Louis May announce his sudden passing on Sunday, December 1st, 2002 in his 52nd year. He will be sadly missed and ever remembered by his loving wife Sarah (nee Byrne); his daughter Melissa; his brothers and sisters: Dennis (June) of Mount Pearl, Yetta (Glen) Saunders of Mount Pearl, Cindy May-Follett of Gander, Leo (Mabel Ann) of Sioux Ste. Marie and Stewart of Belleoram; his brother-in-law Chesley May of Grand Bank; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, each of whom will remember they hold a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents: Leo May and Sophie (Vanzlouis) and his sister Mabel (May). Visitation will take place from St. David of Wales Anglican Church in Pasadena today, Tuesday 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where also funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the family plot. Born August 10, 1951 to Michael and Melissia Blanchard, Cox's Cove, Nfld. At an early age he began his teaching career which lasted for 27 years until ill health caused him to resign. He leaves to mourn Pauline, the mother of his children; sons: Nathan (friend Wendy), Fort McMurray, Alberta, Shane (friend Della), Scarborough, Ontario, Keith (friend Jeanna) and daughter Erica, Springdale; a very special friend Mrs. Violet Small, Springdale; mother-in-law Ruby Young, Springdale; three sisters and four brothers: Janet (John), Cox's Cove, Michael (Poppie), Stephenville, Ethel (Dave), Pasadena, Patrick (Dinah), Fortune, Eva (John) Scarborough, Ontario, Tony (Rita), Irishtown, Brian (Christine), Cox's Cove. He was predeceased by parents Michael and Melissia Blanchard, infant sister Faith, grandparents Ethel and William Noseworthy, Joseph and Ellen Blanchard and a number of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on November 26, 2002, Lewis Andrews, age 94 years. Predeceased by his wife Isabel, July 19, 2002. Left to celebrate his life and mourn his passing, his family, daughters: Gertrude Andrews and Joan Basic (Zvonko); sons: Fred (Violet) Andrews, Lew (Denise) Andrews: and grandchildren: Stephanie Basic-Sedore (Jason), ON; Anthony Basic, Monica Basic and her children Theresa and Nathan, BC; sisters-in-law: Effie (Ches) Oake, Florida, Eleanor Andrews, Winnipeg, Alice Andrews, St. John's, Gwen (Rev. Douglas) Best; nieces and nephews and their families: Evelyn Andrews, Nova Scotia (wife of the late Noel Andrews), Fred (Patsy) Andrews, Peter (Judy) Andrews, Mary Andrews, Paul (Doris) Andrews, Jim (Selina) Andrews, Patti (Ric) Moody, Margie (Dr. Jerry) Sparkes, Bonnie (Moss) Holland, Doug (Judy) Best, David Parsons, Arch (Selina) Parsons and a large circle of other relatives and friends. A teacher for 20 years and businessman for over 40 years, he provided public service in Corner Brook over the years as President of the Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Public School Board, Vice Chairman of Herdman Collegiate School Board, representative on the School Tax Authority and President of the Association of Amalgamated School Boards of Newfoundland. He was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, the St. John's Senior Citizen's Club and also a 50 year member of Lomond Masonic Lodge. Known as an avid golfer, he achieved the ultimate "hole-in-one" on two occasions, shot his age from 73 to 83 and most proud of being a member of the Newfoundland Senior Golf Championship teams in 1980 and 1983. Rested at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John's. The double ring ceremony took place at Corner Brook City Hall with Mayor Priscilla Boutcher officiating. The bride was given away by her grandmother Emma Marshall. Aroma's provided a beautiful meal for the wedding & a small reception was held at the home of the groom's parents in Irishtown. The couple currently reside in Corner Brook. Passed away suddenly on Dec. 1, 2002 at the age of 78. Jim Vincent of Etobicoke, ON, formerly of Corner Brook, NL. Retired employee of Corner Brook Pulp and Paper Ltd., Tech. Services dept. where he was an active member of local 64 Pulp and Paper Workers Union. Son of Benjamin and Blanche Vincent of Corner Brook, both predeceased. Left to mourn are his beloved wife Lillian (Penny), sister Mary Guthrie of San Antonio Texas, sons Brian of Mount Pearl, NL and Neil of Ottawa ON, daughters Kirkie Jones of Kitchener, ON and Bonnie Flynn of McAdam NB, along with eleven grandchildren. Also survived by his step-family Diane MacFee and William Reid of Mississauga. He will be greatly missed by all he touched with his devotion to family and humor to the last. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life was held at the Simple Alternative Funeral Center in Mississauga on Dec 4th. The cremated remains will be interned in the family plot in Corner Brook, NL.

Audrey owned and operated Chantel's Playschool for 7 years in Stephenville prior to her becoming ill; she and her family moved to St. John's in 2001. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Doss (Luman) in 1981, her father John Horlick in 2001, her father-in-law Andrew F. Butt in 1994 and her mother-in-law Margaret Butt in 1997. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Mary of Stephenville and one son, Redmond Jr. (LeeAnn) of Lourdes and four step-sons: Bob Lambe of Florida, Mike Lambe of Calgary, Ricky Lambe of Florida, Brian Lambe of Stephenville and two grandsons: Glen of Ontario and Darren of Lourdes and three granddaughters: Sarah Lambe, Allison Lambe, Bethany Lambe and a large circle of relatives and friends. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stephen's Parish, West Street, Stephenville with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in West Bay. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verna Cashin announce her passing at home on Sunday December 29th, 2002 at the age of 65 years. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Belinda (Joe) in Piccadilly, her step-daughters: Marilyn (Pete) Nowee in Colborne, ON, Cindy (Tim) Lake and Betty Edwards in Edmonton, AB, her step-sons: Albert (Winnie) Gaudet in Edmonton, AB and Ron (Fran) Gaudet in Comox, BC. She also leaves with fond memories her brothers: Pearce of Port au Port West, Jim (Kay), Bernard and William all in Port au Port East, Jack and Cal in Mississauga, ON, her sisters: Marie (Mike) Clay in Chicago, Edna Nentwick in Wellsville, Ohio and Bernadine (John) Hensley in Las Vegas, grandson David in Piccadilly, step-granddaugher Elisa (Dave) Mullins in St. Catherine's, ON, along with a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents John F. and Mary P. Cashin. Visitation will be at Maria Regina Parish in Port au Port East on Tuesday December 31st, 2002 from 2-9 p.m. from where funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 1st, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will take place following the service with a private family committal of ashes to follow. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Port au Port Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated. Audrey passed peacefully away at her home with her husband, daughter and son at her side on December 29, 2002 after a long battle with cancer. Audrey owned and operated Chantel's Playschool for 7 years in Stephenville prior to her becoming ill; she and her family moved to St. John's in 2001. She was predeceased by her sister Mary Doss (Luman) in 1981, her father John Horlick in 2001, her father-in-law Andrew F. Butt in 1994 and her mother-in-law Margaret Butt in 1997. Audrey is survived by her husband of 31 years Andrew, her daughter Diana Marilyn (fiancé Jason Gaulton) of Fort McMurray, AB and her son Bernard Andrew (special friend Nicolle) as well as her mother Mary Stapleton; by her sisters: Linda Chafe (Frank), Dianne Crocker (spouse Roger Gulliver), Debbie Humphries and Warrick Humphries all of St. John's; by her brother: Robert (special friend Gertrude) of St. John's, John (Brenda) of Maynooth, ON, David (Patsy) of Placentia, Randolph (Jeanette) of St. John's by a special Aunt Peggy McCarthy (David Shemtob) of Mississauga, ON; by her sisters-in-law Kay (Don) Gibbon, Gerty (Robert) Bruce, Gina (Nelson) White all of Stephenville, Mary (Tom) Sullivan of St. John's, Linda (Mont) Mills of Clarenville, Carolyn (Sterl) Stuckless of Fort McMurray, AB; by her brother-in-law John (Arlene) Butt of Bedford, NS and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends in Stephenville and St. John's. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Ambrose Bennett of Stephenville and three sons: Tony (Tanya) of Lourdes, Michael (Leanora) of Stephenville, Albert of Toronto and two daughters: Tina of Black Duck Brook, Amanda (Curt) Simms of Corner Brook and three brothers: Charlie Madore and Michael Madore, both of Toronto, Richard Madore of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and six sisters Cecilia Bates of Stephenville, Isabell Plank of Philadelphia, Marie Madore of Lemington, Ontario, Ann Madore of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Patsy Lucas of Stephenville Crossing, Phyllis Wheeler of Stephenville and her grandchildren: Isabella, Leonard and very special friend, Betty Perrier and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Madeline Madore, brothers, Andrew, Ronnie and sister, Josephine.
