ANSTEY, Judith Irene
Corner Brook, NF

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Judy Anstey announce her passing after a lengthy battle with cancer. She passed quietly away among family and friends on October 28th, 2001 at the age of 45 years. Left to mourn is her loving and devoted daughter, Heather and friend Mike, her loving partner, Tony Payne, and her mother Kathleen Anstey all residing at Corner Brook. Her sisters: Carolyn (Gilbert) Willis of Scarborough, Ontario, Audrey and friend Roland of Corner Brook. Her brothers: Gord and special sister-in-law Joan, Glenn and friend Brenda, all residing at Corner Brook and Jason and friend Tracy at Halifax. Nieces and nephews: Judy-Lynn Duke (Ronnie) of Scarborough, ON, Lori-Ann and Crystal Anstey and Andrew Young all residing at Corner Brook. Grand nephews: Aaron and Aiden Duke of Scarborough, ON, Preyanka, Ashwin and KJ of Corner Brook. Nine golden friends: Sneha, Donna, Debbie, Pauline, Gail, Roseanna, Beat and Sis all of Corner Brook and Barb of the USA. Special friends: Meta (Nan) Dowton and Joe Richards of Corner Brook, she will be also missed by a large number of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Ron on March 6, 1997. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church on Park Drive with Rev. Glen Small officiating. The interment will take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Flowers or donations may be made to the Cancer Society. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road, Tuesday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Special thanks to Hazel Young who stood by her side in time of need, all the nurses who attended to her, to Dr. Gibbons, Dr. Porter, Dr. Ganguly and Dr. Younus, thank you.

WELLS, Frank
Passed away peacefully at North Haven Manor on Friday, October 26, 2001, Frank Wells in his 82nd year. Predeceased by parents Bessie and William Wells, brother Charles and sister Mildred. Leaving to mourn his wife of 60 years, Annie; children Mildred (Piercey) Budgell, Baie Verte, Frank (Carolyn) Wells, Western Shore, NS, Maxine (Gregory) Bohaker, Salmon Arm, BC, Judy (Harvey) Snow, Lewisporte, Bessie (James) Merrigan, Pasadena, Kevin Wells, St. John's, Valerie (Roland) Martin, Lewisporte, Margaret Wells, Dartmouth, NS, Patricia (Ronald) Manuel, St. John's, Debbie Wells (John), Chamberlains, Cyril Wells (Janet), Smiths Falls, ON; 26 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services took place at St. Matthew's United Church, Lewisporte on Monday, October 29th at 2:00 p.m. with interment at United Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

COOPER, Sylvia Ann

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Cooper announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 1st, 2001, after a long and courageous fight against cancer at the age of 48 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: husband Sam (Junior); son Billy (Tina Wells), Hughes Brook; daughter Deniene Beales (Peter), New Jersey; her father Mr. Philip Beales, Curling; sisters: Glenda, Corner Brook, Phyllis (Bruce), Ontario, Irene (Ron), Corner Brook, Helen (Ron), Benoit's Cove, Aggie (Bill), Alberta and Geniene (Brian), Corner Brook; brothers; Pius (Elizabeth), Corner Brook, Tony (Heather) Gary, Corner Brook, Bobby (Rhoda), Pasadena; father and mother-in-law Sam and Angela Cooper; sisters-in-law: Janet Cooper, and Maria McKenna (Peter), Ontario; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and numerous friends. She is predeceased by her mother Mrs. Mildred Beales (1999). Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., and on Saturday morning from 10:0 a.m. to 12 noon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3rd, at 2:00 p.m. from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Curling, Fr. Bernard Buckle officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit.

Passed away Tuesday, October 30th, 2001 at home in Port Hawkesbury, John Cyril "Jack" Hartery, 63. Born in Corner Brook, Nfld., he was a son of the late John and Dorcas (Hounsell) Hartery. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Berkshire) Hartery; daughter, Maria Hartery (Angus MacEachern), Frankville; sons: John, Vancouver, Michael (Nina Rizzuto) and Christopher (Kim), Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren: Sarah and Rankin MacEachern, Kristen and John Hartery; sister, Louise (Paul) Miller, Fall River. He was predeceased by brother, Kevin Hartery. Jack was recognized for strong leadership and vision as president and general manager of Stora Enso until his retirement in April 2001. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the family residence, 92 Prince St., Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service to take place 12 noon Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, Rev. Bill Burke officiating. of Corner Brook and Stephen Ransier of Guelph, Ontario exchanged wedding vows on Sept. 22, 2001. The lovely ceremony took place at the First United Church in Corner Brook and was officiated by the Rev. F. John Adams accompanied by the organist Gary Graham. The bride, escorted by her sons Shawn and Jeffrey wore her Mother's wedding gown. The couple were joined by their attendants Ina Saunders and Harvey Butler (Yvette's sister and brother). Yvette is the daughter of Hazel and Wallace Butler of Pasadena and Stephen is the son of the late Amy and James Ransier of Collingwood, Ontario. Out of town guests Don and Mary Lawson from Guelph, Ontario attended the ceremony. We wish to thank all of our friends who shared and helped make our day so particularly special. The couple wish to extend Happy Wedding Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Wallace Butler who celebrated their 54th Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 22, 2001.

Passed into the nearer presence of the Lord he loved and served, Charles John Abraham, priest, on 5 November 2001. Left to celebrate his life of love and service, his wife Ann (nee Chatwood), their children: Philippa (Scott Warren) and Richard and their grandchildren: Hilary, Peter and Harry Warren; brothers: William (Jessie) and Martin (Judith) their families and the family of his sister Janet who predeceased him in 1972. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday, 6 November 2001 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Wednesday, 7 November 2001 at 10:0 a.m. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road, St. John's. No flowers by request. The family has established a Memorial Fund through the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Choir to enable the choir to commission original music or new arrangements of existing music which will reflect Charles' faith in God and love of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Christina Park announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, November 5th, 2001 at the age of 94 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her seven children: Doreen (Silas) Pitcher, Austin (Susie), Donald (Nettie), Eva Ricketts, with whom she resided, Elizabeth (John) Morgan, Leo (Maxine) and Lowell (Daisy) all residing in McIver's; one stepdaughter Diana Park, Gillams; stepdaughter-in-law Gladys Park; thirty-six grandchildren, sixty-two great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great grandchildren, a very large circle of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families. One sister: Suzanna Lowell. She is predeceased by her husband Richard Park, 1952, four grandchildren: Cyril, Joanne, Dorcas and Hughie; step-daughters: Olive, Annie and Elizabeth; step-sons: Herb, Ben and George; brothers: James, George, Joseph, John, William, Felix and Walter; sisters: Mary, Delphine and Lucy. The family will be receiving friends from the Anglican Church of the Epiphany, McIver's beginning on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2001 Gordon Ralph Crewe at the age of 61 years. He leaves to mourn, one brother, Walter (Marjorie) Crewe, Deer Lake; two sisters: Alfreda (Melvin) Durnford, St. John's and Dulcie (Claude) Smith, Norman's Cove; three nephews: Colin, Kevin and Spencer; four nieces: Karen, Maxine, Tracy and Megan, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Olive Crewe. The family will be receiving friends from St. Boniface Anglican Church on Friday and Saturday, from where the funeral service will be held Sunday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m., Reverend Trudy Sullivan officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Boniface Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Ramea, will be graciously accepted. He is survived by his wife Lois; two daughters: Juanita of Halifax and Crystal of Corner Brook; parents: Max and Mary Caravan of Deer Lake; brothers: Eddie (Maisie) of Deer Lake, Gary (Beverley) of Deer Lake and Rocky (Shirley) of Corner Brook; two sisters: Glenda (Wayne) Drover of Deer Lake and Heather Heath of Edmonton; special brother and sister-in-law: Bill (June) King; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife Carrie of 43 years; three daughters: Betty Muggridge (Alvin) of Pasadena, Cynthia Brown (Stewart Combdon) of Nova Scotia, Annette McKay (Aloysius) of Pasadena; two sons: William Jr. (Sharon) of Pasadena, Danny of Alberta and his dear mother Rita Brown of Corner Brook; eleven grandchildren; seven sisters: Kay, Doris, Linda (Lloyd) of Corner Brook, Ange (Don), Marg (Doug) of Ontario, Vera (Ron), Gloria (Frank Miller) of Halifax; three brothers: George (Vera), Henry (Lorraine) of Corner Brook, Howard (Dot) of Frenchman's Cove. Also leaving to mourn are a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Arthur. Visitation will take place at St. David of Wales Anglican Church, Pasadena on Friday, November 9, 2001 between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 and Saturday, November 10, 2001 from 10-12. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Marie and one son, Stephen Hynes of Piccadilly and two daughters: Joanne (Arthur) Young of West Bay and Alitha (Perry) McIsaac of Piccadilly and his mother, Mildred Hynes of Piccadilly; five brothers: Reuben (Mary) Hynes of London, Ontario, Bill (Doris) Hynes of Ontario, Thomas (Mary) Hynes, Michael Hynes Jr., Eugene Hynes, all of Piccadilly; four sisters: Pearl (Freddy) MacDonald, Gladys (William) Jesso, Clara Tallack, Philomena Benoit, all of Piccadilly and three grandchildren: Christopher, Allison and Terri-Lynn; a large circle of relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late William (Bill) Costello announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at the age of 82 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of fifty years, Alice and one son, Michael (Mary Ellen) Costello of Saint John, New Brunswick; three daughters: Mary Costello of Stephenville, Marilyn (Roy) Howell of Torbay, Catherine Costello of Halifax, Nova Scotia; seven grandchildren: Colleen, Alicia, Melanie, Lesley, Jaclyn, William, Emma; two brothers: Benedict (Bride) Costello of Holyrood, Ignatius (Iris) Costello of St. John's and a large circle of family and friends. Passed peacefully away on November 9, 2001 after many long years of diabetes and its complications, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Calvin Wayne Penney at the age of 46. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Calvin died as he lived, with strength and dignity. Calvin was predeceased by his mother Dora Penney December 1980 and his baby sister Heather in 1959. He will be sadly missed & lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 19 years Beverley (Batt); Father Earl and stepmother Irene; brother Glen (Ann Marie), St. John's; sister Lori Penney, Halifax; mother & father-in-law Wilbert & Beverley Batt; 4 sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Kerry) Reid, Cindy Batt (Chad), Jean Batt, Joan Batt; 2 brothers-in-law: Hardy Batt (Bev), Billy (Angie); very special nieces and nephews: Sarah & Daniel Penney, Andrew & Heather Reid, Riley Chaulk and many close and dear friends. The memorial service will be held Monday, November 12th at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street, followed by a private burial service at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Passed away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Monday, November 19, 2001 Robert Joseph (Bobby) Young at the age of 61 years. Bobby worked as a carpenter in his earlier years and continued doing woodwork as a hobby during his retirement. Being an avid hunter and woodsman, he enjoyed spending time in the outdoors very much. He leaves to mourn, his wife Phonsaine (nee Simon); daughter Genevieve (Paul) Hiscock, Manitoba; sons: Robert (Elizabeth) Young and Richard Young, both of Nova Scotia; stepson Carl (Brenda) Simon, Nova Scotia; grandchildren: Keri, Travis, John Tyler, Emily, RJ and Danielle; sisters: Madonna (Nick) Whelan, Lorraine (Alvin) Smith and Joanne (Gary) Butt; brothers: Lloyd (Barb), Ernest (Geraldine), Terry (Theresa), Albert (Eleanor), Davis, and Eddie (Florence), as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Archibald Stephen Lawrence at the age of 89. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Isabel; five children: Grace Hutchings (Clayton), Deer Lake, Edward Lawrence (Berneice), Pasadena, Joan Lawrence, Corner Brook, Phyllis Noel (Dougald), Stephenville, Cecil Lawrence, Corner Brook; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; one brother Malcolm Lawrence (Edith), Corner Brook; sisters: Verna Miller, Corner Brook, Annie Smith, Irishtown, Ruth Redilfo (Albert), Toronto, and numerous other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 30th, at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Reverend Percy Coffin officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church or the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.

Passed away Thursday, November 29th, 2001 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre, Theresa Organ at the age of 90. She will be sadly missed by her loving family: son, Gerald Mackenzie of Ontario; daughter-in-law, Angie Leger (Bill), Las Vegas; grandchildren: Jerry, Brian and Nancy; great-grandchildren: Patricia, Mackenzie, Liam and numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husbands, Art Mackenzie and Matthew Organ. The family will be receiving friends from the Roman Catholic Church, Norris Point on Friday, followed by the funeral service Saturday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m. with the interment at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to a charity of one's choice will be graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Fillatre's Funeral Home.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sybil Pelley announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at the age of 87 years. She will be sadly missed by her two daughters: Beryl (Ross) Butt of Stephenville, Elaine (Randy) Butt of Fort McMurray, Alberta; one brother, Raymond Morris of St. John's; two sisters: Elma (Gordon) Butler and Peggy Peterson, all of Stephenville; seven grandchildren: Byron, Craig, Dwayne, Jennifer, Jason, Trevor, Amanda; six great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Pelley in 1998 and her brother, Leslie Morris in 1975. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street, Stephenville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Clare Avenue, Stephenville with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. HANN, Robert
May 9th, 1918 - November 28th, 2001

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert Hann announce his passing on Wednesday, November 28th, 2001 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in his 83rd year. He will be sadly missed by his five daughters: Bessie (Tom), Whelemena, Neta (Harry) all of Trout River, Yvonne (Vernon) and Keela both of Brampton, Ontario; three sons: Manuel (Betty), William (Linda) both of Brampton, Ontario and Ira (Connie) of Trout River; 23 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren; one brother Harvey of Trout River; two sisters: Violet of Rocky Harbour and Geneva (Algon) of Trout River; one sister-in-law, May Hann of Trout River. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Theresa; sons: Alfred and Trent and grandsons: Ira and Darryl and one brother Samuel Hann. Visitation will take place from The salvation Army Church in Trout River today, Friday and Saturday where also the funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Capt. Simms officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.
