It is with great sadness that the family of the late Helena Anderson announce her passing on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her sisters: Rose Marie (Lorne) Wheeler, St. John's, Mary Elizabeth Perkins, Florida and Edna Jean Ivory, New Hampshire; brothers: Thomas (Laura), Bay Roberts, Ross (Deborah), Deer Lake and Cecil (Sylvia), Corner Brook; fondly remembered by sisters-in-law: Marjorie, Joyce and Beverley; special friend Mary Normore; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Helena was predeceased by father Thomas and mother Helena; brothers William, Frederick and Allister, sister-in-law Iris, brothers-in-law Eugene Perkins & Larry Ivory. ARCHER, Raymond Michael
Passed on: October 12th, 2014

Age 93 of Halifax, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, in Northwood Centre. Born in Aguathuna, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Moore) Archer. In his early years, Raymond worked at the Limestone Quarry in Aguathuna, followed by many years as a heavy equipment mechanic in Metro Halifax. He retired at the age of 72. Raymond is survived by stepson, Paul Curran (Helen); step-grandchildren, twins, Carolyn and Colleen; special niece; Eunice House. He was predeceased by his wife Laura; sisters, Mary Archer and Florence Blackwell; brothers, Gordon and Bernie. There will be a Private Family Service followed by Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. passed peacefully away on Monday, October 20, 2014 after a short battle with cancer at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 69. passed away peacefully at St. Clair's Mercy Hospital in St. John's Newfoundland following a short illness on October 25, 2014. Predeceased by her parents Irvin and Edith Micklethwaite of Yorkshire, England, her in-laws John A. and Ena Constance Barrett of Curling, Newfoundland and her brother in law Pilot Officer John Hamilton Barrett, RCAF WWII. Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 70 years Arthur, daughter Helena MacLean (Kent) Lunenburg, NS, son John Barrett (Faye) Charlottetown PEI, brother Barrie Micklethwaite, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, sister in law Rose Gillam (Charlie) Mount Pearl, NL, brother in law David Barrett (Louise) Welland, ON, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends and theatre colleagues. The family wish to thank Drs. Morkar, Rideout and their medical teams as well as the nursing staff on 4 West. A special thank you to medical student Kyle Murnaghan who has been a tower of strength - a credit to the medical profession. She leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories her daughter, Paulette, mother, Elva Rideout, brothers: Bruce Rideout, Austin Rideout, Mervin Rideout (Lorraine), Caywood Rideout (Dora), sister, Linda Brake (Wayne), sisters-in-law: Rita Froude, Eileen Pierce, and Marion Penwell (George), and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Fred Cake (1995), father, Bruce Rideout Sr, sisters-in-law, Ivy Rideout and Karen Drake, and brother-in-law, Clyde Pierce. Evelyn was known for her baking talents and warm demeanor. She volunteered for many years as a member of the Silver Blades Figure Skating Club executive. Peacefully at the age of 87 years on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Village by the Station in Penticton, BC with her family by her side. Dear wife of the late Robert E. Evans (1996), mother of Phyllis (James Price), Maxine (Dwight Taylor), Bernice (Darwin Dauncey), Barbara (Daniel Duchene), and Robert (Cathy). Stella was a proud and devoted grandmother of Jill (Chris Ward), Mark, Bethany, Kate, Brittany, Alexander, Meghan, and Rhys, and loving great-grandmother of Grayson, Silas, and Nella. Born in Westport NL in 1927, Stella spent much of her adult life in Corner Brook, NL where she and Robert raised their five children. Stella was predeceased by her parents, siblings Maxwell, Eliza, Francis, Phoebe, Lovetta, Samuel, William, Elizabeth, Evelyn, and Pearl. She is survived by her much adored brother Stanley and a large circle of relatives and friends. There was nothing Stella loved more than being with family and friends. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, knitting, rug hooking, and music. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a beautiful smile. Even through her dementia, Stella continued to share her wonderful smile and would often give you a wink as if sharing a joke. Stella moved to Penticton in 2009 to live with her loving daughter Maxine and son in law Dwight. For the past two years she has been a resident in Village by the Station. She taught French night school for seniors and worked with the Ladies Auxiliary (Our Lady of Fatima Church). She loved to travel. Predeceased by her parents and first husband, Hilary Kendall. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and a large circle of friends and co-workers. Cal was predeceased by his parents, his brother Campbell "Cam" Jesty, sister-in-law Diane, sister, Lois Jesty, his step- mother, Eileen Jesty, mother and father-in-law, Ken and Ethel Davis and several aunts and uncles. Cal was a retired, devoted member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for 33 years. His first posting was to Newfoundland where he met his wife Paulette and quickly became a beloved member of his second family. Cal loved Newfoundland and it became his home for over 30 years. An avid outdoorsman, Cal loved to hunt, explore abandoned properties and to quietly walk in the woods listening and feeling all it has to offer. Cal spent much time with his best friend and father-in-law, Ken Davis, camping, hunting and just sitting and talking in front of a fire. In keeping with Cal's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Surrounded by her loving family, Marie J. MacNutt (Staples) passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 25th after a brief illness. Marie was born in Curling, Corner Brook, Newfoundland on April 7th, 1933. Marie came to New Brunswick from Newfoundland and resided in Saint John where she raised 7 children with husband Murray. The family lived in the north end and later moved to east Saint John. Marie was a doting grandmother and her grandchildren brought her great joy. She cross country skied until a couple years ago, loved to search for good berry picking spots far and wide, and treasured a good picnic with the family at the beach in summers. She was a woman with immense energy and spirit. Marie appreciated many types of popular music and on many an occasion, would burst into dance when the mood struck. As well as caring for a large family, she also worked at various occupations through the years. She especially enjoyed her work in the lab at Baxter's Dairies and was happiest when busy. Mom may you rest in peace and love. Marie is survived by her seven children; Heather Russell (Tony); Cathy Dyker (Carl); Paul MacNutt (Angela Ghiz); Tami Palinkas (Nick); Peter MacNutt (Jo-Anne); Maribeth MacNutt (Chris Steeves); Jocelyn Goguen (Dan). Survived by siblings Marg Lee, Kay Connolly, Imelda Staples (Curtis Mahoney), Greg Staples (Shirley), Marion Playter (Lawrence), Joan Wells (Randy) and John Staples (Maxine); 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Marie was predeceased by her parents Stephen and Florence Staples, Murray H. MacNutt, who passed away in April 2014, and her brothers-in-law Gerry Lee and Jim Connolly. Ed was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed competition, everything from playing cards to many different sports. He was well known as a long time hockey player with the Corner Brook Royals, with them for four Herder Memorial Trophys in the 1960's. He was inducted into the NL Hockey Hall of Fame in 2011. In keeping with Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place with interment at a later date. It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Ridgley announce his passing on Wednesday October 15th 2014 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital at the age of 86 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Bridget, his daughter Jenita (John) Alyward in Kippen's, his two grandchildren; Jonathan and Jennifer, his three great grandchildren; Ryan, Lucas and Morgan. He also leaves with loving memories his three sisters; Margaret (Allan) Langdon in Harbor Breton, Theresa (Owen) Sheppard in Stephenville and Lottie (Tom) Drake in Riverport NS along with many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Thomas and Mary Ridgley, his sister Rosalie and her husband Norm Pierce. The family will be receiving friends at Russell's Funeral Home 57 Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday October 17th 2014. Funeral services will take place on Saturday October 18th 2014 at 10 am from St. Stephen's Parish on West Street with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway. ROWSELL, Joyce
Passed on: October 5th, 2014

77 of Herring Cove, passed away October 5, 2014 at the QEII - VG Site. Born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Marion (Tricket) Oxford. Her family meant everything to her. When her children grew up, she joined her husband and worked in the family business, Murphy and Warton Plumbing. Joyce loved her jigsaw puzzles, a good game of cards as well as her vacations in Florida. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Janet (Gordon) Heaney; grandchildren, Chad, Amanda (Keith Saulnier); great granddaughter, Peyton; sisters, Millie, Marion, Pearl; brother, Norv as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George "Butch"; son, Allan as well as several brothers and her sister. Cremation has taken under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Salvation Army. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret "Peggy" Rumbolt announce her sudden passing on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her loving husband Ralph of 61 years, her children Brian (Aileen); grandchildren: Jennifer, Colin, Ian, Susan (Darrell), grandson Stephen; Greg (Noeleen); grandaughter Anna; brothers Hughie Ledrew (Edwina),Tim Ledrew (Maria), Peter Ledrew (Dale); a special friend Shirley Sweetland and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Berenice and Ted Ledrew, brothers Ted, Fred, baby Larry Ledrew. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 28 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 29 at 1:00 PM from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating with interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gladys Sheppard announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories daughter Eunice; sons Robert and George; grandchildren Denis (Lesley Ann), April (Jason), Shelley (Todd), Tracey (Brad), Jeffrey (Becka), Tanya, Charlene, John, Crystal, Scott, Christa, and Richard; great-grandchildren Riley, Ryder, Emily, Evan, Brady, Sydney, Joey, Vincent, and Christopher; brothers John (Norma) and Earl; sisters Violet, Ruby, and Lottie (Randy), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband John "Lem" Sheppard; daughter Dinah; parents Robie and Mollie Murphy; son-in-law Denis "Rally" Taylor; sisters Vivian and Nina; brother Jim and her sisters and brothers-in-law. In keeping with Gladys' wishes cremation has taken place. At Gladys' request there will be no funeral service. TAYLOR, Robert Roy

In Loving memory of Robert Roy Taylor who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday October 7, 2014 at the Dryden Regional Health Center at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife Colleen Spearns, brother Tim Taylor and wife Kim from Corner Brook, NL, nephews Jeremy and Zachary Taylor, brothers-in-law; Gerald Spearns, Mark Tarrant from Ottawa, John Spearns and sister-in-law Freda Spearns from Dartmouth, nephews; Ronald from Montreal, Joey from Ottawa, and niece Susan (Norman) Conrad and their daughter Tessa from Dartmouth. He is predeceased by his parents Howard and Bernice Taylor (nee Elliot). Robert was born in Corner Brook, NL on May 22, 1954. He worked with Windigo First Nations as a project coordinator. He loved traveling, camping, reading, photography and music. Robert also enjoyed gardening, cars and motorcycles. He always had a stray dog or cat or two adopted. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when it was needed. Picked up hitchhikers, especially when the weather was bad. He enjoyed being busy all of the time, scheduling every minute of the day with activities or work that needed to be done. There was no Visitation as cremation had taken place. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Dryden Community Funeral Home's Chapel with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Newfoundland. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Dryden Community Funeral Home 249 Grand Trunk Ave., Dryden, ON P8N 2X3.

WATSON, Duncan Charles

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Duncan Watson announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by parents Martha and Lucious Watson and his sisters and brothers: Bertha, Susan, George, James, Tom, and Georgina.
