SCHWARTZ, Sandra Anne
Born November 16, 1962, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving
family on Thursday, October 16th. Daughter of Len (and
Barbara) Schwartz of St. John’s, NL, Marina and Olav Johannessen
of Hubley. A wonderful sister to Brian, David and Stephanie and a loving
friend to so many that were fortunate to know her. We will all remember
Sandra for her passionate approach to life. A love of photography and
painting was reflected in the images that constantly surrounded her.
Her unique sense of style was reflected in the original jewelry she
wore and her love of colour. Sandra’s extensive world travels
were reflected in the ethnic cuisine that she enjoyed creating and
sharing. Sandra’s
passion extended fully into her professional life; many years as a
travel agent while completing an Undergrad and Masters Degree in Psychology
and Behavioral Science, and recent positions with the Department of
National Defence in Ottawa and Halifax. Sandra courageously overcame
many challenges during her 15 year battle with cancer. Her most recent
triumph was an accumulation of many races that included a half marathon
only a short time ago. Sandra never gave up the fight, but her marathon
of hope is now over. Her spirit will live with us forever. Our family
would like to thank all our friends for their constant love and support.
In addition, we thank the many nurses and doctors at the QEII Cancer
and Palliative Care Units.
