Passed peacefully away at the
Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 1st, 2000
Donald Nicholas Keough in his 76th year. Leaving to mourn his sad loss, three
sisters: Joan Keough, Corner Brook, with whom he resided, Jean Drake,
Alvena Wells, both of Toronto, Ontario. Special niece Mary Hepditch,
St. John's, NF, as well as several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4
St. Mark's Avenue on Monday, October 2nd, from the hours of 2-4:00 p.m.
and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October
3rd, at 10:30 a.m. from All Hallows Roman Catholic Church, Humber Road,
Fr. John Molloy officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers or donations to the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital Foundation graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements

that the family of the late Ambrose Thistle announce his passing at the
Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Saturday, September 30 at the age of 68
years. He will be sadly missed by his son Tom (Pamela) in Brampton, ON;
his three daughters: Marion (Wendell) Benoit in Paris, ON, Isabel (Stephen)
Power in Corner Brook and Lorraine (Sean) Connolly in Stephenville. He
will also be sadly missed by his sister Edith (Patrick) Butt in Port
Union along with his seven grandchildren: Yolanda, Amanda, Jordan, Allison,
Cody, Kyler and Ambrose; 5 sisters-in-law and 4 brothers-in-law and a
large circle of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services
will take place on Tuesday, October 3rd at 2 p.m. from St. Stephen's
Parish on West Street with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery
on the Hansen Highway. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39
Queen Street from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations

the family of the late Regina March announce her peaceful passing at
the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Sunday, October 1st, 2000 at the age
of 102 years. She will be sadly missed by her two sons: John (Pat) March
in Goose Bay and Kevin (Marcella) March in Antigonish, NS. Five daughters:
Kay McCann and Betty March both in Stephenville, Dorothy (Reg) Gabriel
in Mount Pearl, Clare Amrhein in Wisconsin, USA, Mary (Tom) Johns in
Ontario, along with two daughters-in-law: Marie March in Ontario and
Jackie March in St. John's; 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren

It is with great sadness that the family
of the late Mr. Clayton Young announce his passing at his family residence
on Friday, September 29th, 2000 at the age of 85 years. He will be sadly
missed by his family: his wife, Viola (nee Crocker). Two sons: Larry
(Annette) of Etobicoke, ON, and Keith (Nora) of Corner Brook. 6 daughters:
Shirley (Alphonse) Ciulla, and Gloria all residing at Mississauga, ON,
Loretta (Roy) Tucker of Toronto, Sandra of Brampton, Donna (Gary) Peddle
of Ajax, ON, and Tracey (Warren) Pye of Corner Brook. A number of grandchildren,
and a number of great grandchildren. Sisters: Marigold (Robert) Coates,
and Vera Neville all residing at Corner Brook. He is predeceased by his
2 sons: Bobby and Howard, grandson: Faron, brothers: Roy, Sidney, William,
and Russ and sister Sylvia. He will be also missed by a large number
of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service will take
place on Monday, at 2 p.m. from St. Mary's Anglican Church on Curling
Street, with Rev. Ed King officiating. The interment will take place
at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Tributes may be made by making donations

Goosney announce her passing on Tuesday October 3rd,
2000 at the Bonne Bay Health
Centre in her 75th year. She will be sadly missed by her loving children:
Hemon (Doreen), Victor (Hilda), Rod (Lucy), all of Parsons Pond, Wade
(Dorothy) of Hawkes Bay and Dawson (Rose) of Alberta. Four brothers:
Sandy (Mary Jane), Rex (Jean), Gerald (Marion) and Steadman all of Parsons
Pond. Seven sisters: Jessie (Claude) Brown of Cow Head, Sadie (Tom) Verge,
Daisy (Max) Payne both of Parsons Pond, Josephine Walters of Rocky Harbour,
Mildred Payne, Rowena Bavis and Edna Wentzell all of Parsons Pond. Her
special niece Norma Patey and Special grandchildren: Bevin and April
Goosney. 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also a large circle
of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her
husband Gilbert in March, 1996 and her son Terry in August, 1998. Visitation
will take place from the Anglican Church in Parsons Pond today Thursday,
where also funeral service will take place on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with
Rev. John Meade officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot.

HAYNES, Minnie Grace (nee Rideout)
Passed peacefully away on Wednesday,
October 4th, 2000, Minnie Grace Haynes, of Manuels, (former resident
of Corner Brook), aged 68 years. Predeceased by her brother Gilbert.
Leaving to mourn her loving and devoted husband and friend of 45 years,
Maxwell. She will be deeply missed by her four children, one daughter
Judy Butler (Gary), Moncton; three sons: William "Bill" (Rita),
Kelligrews, Donald (special friend Ann and her daughter Jessica), St.
John's and Stephen (Dianne), Kitchener. Nanny will be sadly missed by
her six beloved grandchildren: Heather, Bradley and Lauren Butler, Kirsten
and Mitchell Haynes, Kelligrews and baby Gillian Grace Haynes, Kitchener.
Also left to mourn her loss are her only sister Mae Gaulton; and one
brother James Rideout (Bella); many other sisters and brothers-in-law;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a large circle of friends.

Tobin (76 years) surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his wife Florence (Frye) of 54 years, sons: Terry
(Margaret), Ross (Martha), Craig (Cindy), all of Ottawa, Brian (Jodene),
St. John's and Paul (Michelle) Saskatoon; daughters: Sherri Saunders
(Jim), Goose Bay, Janet Goodyear (Olsen), Upper Gullies, Gloria Marshall

Hughie and wife Elizabeth McLean, Billy McLean and Susan Hillard, all
residing in Barachois Brook, Darrell McLean, Stephenville, Charlie McLean,

Cyril and Helen Rose of Pasadena are pleased to announce
the marriage of their daughter, Nikki to Paul, son of Don and Elaine
Carter of Pasadena on Saturday, July 22, 2000 at the Humber Valley United
Church. The wedding was officiated by Rev. Michael Simmons. Maid of Honour
was Erin Rose, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Donna and Deanna
Carter, sisters of the groom. Jr. Bridesmaid was Patty Pinksen and flower
girl was Victoria Pinksen nieces of the groom. Best man was Jeff Hull
and Groomsmen were Adam Walsh and Wayne Garcin friends of the bride and

son of Gerald and Shirley (Betty) Allen of Corner Brook and Vanessa,
daughter of Ceclia and the late Ralph Davis of Stephenville. Reverend
Wm. Mercer of Curling United Church officiated. Standing for the couple
were, Teri-Lynn Pinsent, Maid of Honour (friend of the Bride), Tanya
Bentley (friend of the Bride), Nicole White (friend of the Bride), Elaine
Boyd (friend of the Bride), and Angella Davis (niece of the Bride). Roy
Pink (friend of the Groom) was Best man, Chris Allen (brother of the
Groom), Greg Butt (friend of the groom), James Allen (cousin of the Groom),
and Wayne Pelley (cousin of the Groom). The flower girl was Meagan White
(friend of the Bride and Groom), the ring bearer was Myles Allen (nephew
of the Groom). Gerald Allen (father of the Groom) was soloist, and Joyce
Perrett (friend of the Groom) was organist. A reception followed at the
Santa Maria Club. Cindy Menchenton (friend of the Bride) was mistress
of ceremonies. After a honeymoon spent on the island, the couple returned
to Brampton, ON, where both are employed. Both Shane and Vanessa wish
to thank everyone for being so kind, and helping them celebrate the most
momentous event in their lives.

Peacefully on Thursday, October 12th, 2000, at his family residence
Clarence George King surrounded by his family passed into eternal rest
at the age of 73 years. He will be forever remembered by his loving and
devoted wife Cicely (nee Genge) of 47 years marriage. His three sons:
Randy and his wife Debbie, Scott and his wife Lyn and Bruce and his wife
Patty, all of Fort McMurray, Alberta. His daughter Sandra (Mrs. Tony
Goobie) of Deer Lake and his eight grandchildren. Also survived by his
three sisters: Marjorie (Mrs. Joe Slee) of Interlockin, Michigan, USA,
Mrs. Gladys King of St. John's, NF and Sybil (Mrs. Gerry McGuire) of
Ottawa. His two brothers: Don and his wife Aleta of Halifax, NS and Bernard
and his wife Norma of Fort McMurray, Alberta and many nieces and nephews
from both sides of the family. Clarence was predeceased by his father
Samuel, mother Matilda and his sisters Beatrice Saunders and Eileen Brake.
Clarence lived for the outdoors and logging he started working with AND
Company. Then moved to the West Coast and went to work with Bowaters
for a number of years, until he became self employed as a logging contractor,
then he established his own trucking company. Later he became the Town
Superintendent of Deer Lake. Clarence was a longtime member of Lodge
Humber 1475 S.C., A.F. and A.M. and also active in The Grand Lodge of
Scotland. He will be remembered fondly by his many friends he made through
life. The family will be receiving family and friends today Saturday,
October 14th, 2000 from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer
Lake from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on
Sunday, October 15th, 2000 at 2 p.m. from St. Michael's and All Angels
Anglican Church, Deer Lake with Rev. Barter officiating. Cremation to

99 YEARS OLD TODAY
Thirza Jane (Andrews) Daniels will celebrate her
99th birthday today surrounded by family and friends. Born in Twillingate
Oct. 20, 1901 Thirza moved to Bishops Falls where she met and married
Frederick Sargeant. Following the death of her first husband in 1926,
she later married Cyril Daniels, a railway conductor from Humbermouth.
Moving to Corner Brook in the late 1920s Thirza raised her family in
the Humber Heights area. Predeceased by her second husband she spent
much of her spare time volunteering with the All Saints Church on Clarence
Street where she was later made an honorary life member. Currently residing
at the J. I. O'Connell Centre Thirza is sent best wishes on her special
day from her seven children - Maisie Brake, Gladys Miles, Marion Nagle,
Pearl Howley, Melinda Daniels, Ruby Power and Bill Daniels, 17 grandchildren,
29 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

It is with great sadness that the
family of the late William Cecil Kendell announce his sudden passing
at his residence on Thursday, October 19th, 2000 at the age of 80 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his wife Helen; children:
Mark (Linda), Alvena Reid (the late Ralph Reid), Ivan (Elaine), Shirley
MacPherson (Charles), Suzanne Brown (Joe) and Lorne (Janet); grandchildren:
Paul, Sonia, Jason, Leslie, Penny, Donald, Gavin, Emily and Christopher;
great grandchild Caitlin; sisters: Edna Anthony and Helena Kendell; sister-in-law
Vera Kendell; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Victor Kendell, sister
Gladys Kendell and son-in-law Ralph Reid. The family will be receiving
friends from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Codroy on Saturday from 2-4
p.m. and 7-9 p.m., also on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will
take place on Monday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Evelyn Smith officiating.
Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy,
flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of
one's choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's
Funeral Home, Port aux Basques.

great sadness that the family of the late James Michael O'Leary announce
his passing at his residence on Friday, October 20, 2000 at the age of

Brampton, Ontario; one brother, Jack O'Leary of Stephenville; one sister,

Osmond announce
his passing on Wednesday, October 18th, 2000 at his family residence
in his 75th year. He will be sadly missed by his spouse Eileen. One son
John of St. John's and one daughter Sherry (Eric Katruk) of St. John,
New Brunswick. Also a special friend Guy (Joan) Cassell of Labrador City.
Eight grandchildren. One sister Alfreda Combdon of Ontario. Two brothers:

on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment

BOWN, Charles Joseph
Charles Joseph Bown, 37, passed away at the Health
Sciences Centre, St. John's, Newfoundland on Tuesday, October
24, 2000.
He died surrounded by loving family, following a truly courageous battle
with Lymph Cancer. Charles, born on Bell Island, Newfoundland, developed
a career in Performance Music, Music Education, Information Technology
and Call Center Management. He has lived in Newfoundland, Ontario, PEI
and Nova Scotia. He will be remembered for all the lives he has touched
through Music Education, Church Music and Christian love. He will be
forever loved and deeply missed by his loving wife Elizabeth (Hochster),
his parents Evelyn (Dyer) and Charles G. Bown, his brother Harry Bown
(Anne) and sisters: Barbara White (John) and Rosemary O'Keefe (David).
He is survived by his nine nieces and nephews: Christopher White, Jonathan
White, Alison White, Michael White, Andrew Bown, Matthew Bown, Jennifer
O'Keefe, John O'Keefe and Colin O'Keefe. He was predeceased by his sister
Christine Bown, 1989. He will be deeply missed by his mother-in-law Marilyn
Hochster, Cynthia, Julian and Alexander Dent. He will be resting at the
Pendergast Funeral Home, Bell Island, on Thursday, October 26 from 2-4
and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church on Friday,
October 27 at 2:30 p.m.. Interment will follow at the St. Michael's Parish
Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Michael's Parish Hall. In lieu

Wesley United Church in Port aux Basques was the scene
of a beautiful wedding when Jannatta, daughter of Albert and Julie Francis,
was united in marriage to Corey, son of Bruce and Doreen Burton, on June
10, 2000. The maid of honour was Michelle Cooper, friend of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Amanda Burton (sister of the groom); Tanya Bonnell (friend
of the Bride); Claudia Lush (friend of the bride); and Laurie Musseau
(aunt of the bride). Best man was Gordon Tucker (friend of the groom).
Groomsmen were Brad Francis (brother of the bride); Weldon Bonnell (friend
of the groom); and Rick and Rodger Burton (cousins of the groom). Ring
bearer was Tristan Musseau (godson of the bride). A wonderful reception
was held at the Lions Club Centre. Congratulations to Jannatta on her
graduation from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Masters of
Business and Administration (MBA) in April of this year. She is currently
employed with the Department of Economics at MUN. Best wishes and congratulations
from family & friends. Corey is continuing his studies at MUN's School
of Medicine. The happy couple presently reside in St. John's.

Sandi Jollimore and Walter White were united in marriage
on July 7, 2000 at Trinity Anglican Church, Liverpool, NS. Reverend Canon
Kenneth Vaughan performed the double ring ceremony. Sandi is the daughter
of Arnold and Carol Jollimore, Brooklyn, NS, Water is the son of Nathalie
Dunklee and Ralph White Sr. of Stephenville, NF. The bride was attended
by Tabetha Jollimore as maid of honour with Cathy Pemberton and Joanne
White as bridesmaids. The flower girls were Staci Smith and Sonia Smith.
Staci and Sonia also sang a duet during the ceremony. The ring bearer
was the groom's nephew, Jacob White. The best man was the groom's twin
brother, Ralph White Jr. The ushers were Johnnie White and Chris Jollimore.
A reading was given by Terri Wagner. Following the ceremony, a dinner
and dance was held at White Point Beach Resort. Sandi and Walter currently
reside in Wunnumin Lake, Ontario.

The marriage of Lorilee Alina, daughter of Jerry and
Loretta Sharpe of Corner Brook and Jonathan Russell, son of Julia Oxley
of Barrington, NS, took place on May 20, 2000 at The Salvation Army Citadel,
Corner Brook with Majors Joan & Ray Piercey, aunt and uncle of the
bride officiating. Maid of Honor was Jerilee Preston, sister of the bride.
Grooms attendants were Mark Oxley and Robin Oxley, brothers of the groom.

Keith Douglas Miller of
Dartmouth, passed away suddenly, on Thursday, October 26, 2000, at the
Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. Born in Corner Brook, NF, he was
a son of Reginald and Jessie (Bagg) Miller. He was a member of the Canadian
Armed Forces for over 22 years and at the time of his death, he held
rank of Petty Officer, 2 Class. He is survived by his wife, the former,
Rosalie Pearce, son: Kristopher, daughter: Kelly, both at home; sister:
Karen, Mrs. Ken Kervin, Curtice, ON; niece: Krista; nephew: Sean; great-niece:
Briar. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents: Mom and Pop Bagg.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday, October 29, in Atlantic Funeral Home,
6552 Bayers Road, Halifax, followed by cremation. Funeral service will
be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2000, at Stadacona Chapel,
CFB Halifax. Padre Barrett officiating, with burial at a later date.

It is with great sadness that the
family of the late Flora Pike announce her passing at St. Claire's Mercy
Hospital in St. John's on Thursday, October 26th, 2000 at the age of
49 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, her husband,
David, daughter, Carla (Edward Kennedy), and her son, Ted, all residing
at Gillams, grandchildren: Alexandria, Emma, and Ashton; dear and devoted
friend to the family, Marg Jenniex. She will be also missed by her brothers,
Derek (Betty), Glendon (Norma), Eldon (Jeanette), Sonny (Elizabeth),
David (Sue), and Danny; her sisters: Nina (Ted), Rhoda (Ross), Betty
(Lowell), Christine (Brian). She will also be missed by a large number
of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and great nephew Brandon. She
is predeceased by her infant son, Stephen, her parents: Eileen and Harry
Brake, and sister, Ula. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral
Home, 167 Country Road, Saturday during the hours of 7-9, Sunday during
the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 and Monday during the hours of 10-12 noon. The
funeral service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church
on Main Street at 2:00 p.m., with the Very Reverend Lorne Gosse officiating.
The interment will take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Tributes may
be made by sending flowers or by making a donation to the charity of
one's choice. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Country

It is with great sadness that the family
of the late Betty Prosper announce her passing at the Rufus Guinchard
Health Centre on Sunday, October 29, 2000 at the age of 52 years. She
leaves to mourn her husband Patrick, one son Pat Jr. (wife Lana) of Stephenville,
one daughter Marina (husband Roger Philpott) of Port au Choix, three
grandchildren: Aimee, Emily, Matthew; five sisters: Mary (Kevin) Dwyer,
Eileen (Doug) Rossiter, Ellen (Raymond) Gould, Alma (Matthew) Lee, Susan
(John) White; three brothers: Leo (Gloria) Scanlon, Jerome (Noveen) Scanlon
and William Scanlon; sisters-in-law: Marjorie and Gerald House, Alice,
Helen (David) Howell, Betty (Terry) Shawchuk, Dorothy (Steve) Quilty,
Sheila Atkinson and family; brothers-in-law: John (Mary) Prosper, Terry,
Tom (Karen) Prosper, Henry, Samuel (Rita) Prosper; special friends Shirley
and Melvin Gillingham, Hayward and Mae Prosper, and her special friend
Ida Eastman, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends. She
was predeceased by her parents Dominic and Amy Jane Scanlon, sister Elsie
Mahar, and brother Edward Scanlon. Family will be receiving friends from
St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church on Monday, from where the funeral
service will also take place on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with Father Terry
officiating. Interment to follow at Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove.

his passing on Friday, October 27th, 2000 at the W.M.R. Hospital in his
68th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Rachel (nee Pollard),
his children, Dean of Yellowknife, Jean (Larry) Merko of Hinton, Alberta,
Sheila (Reg) House of Jackson's Arm; two grandchildren Natasha & Sheldon
Mason and two great-grandchildren Nathan and Anthony Mason; two brothers,
Edward (Daphne) Noseworthy of St. John's and William (Theresa) of PEI;
two sisters, Jean (Lloyd) Good of St. John's and Irene (Lester) Green
of Raleigh. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives
and friends. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Jackson's
Arm today, Monday where also funeral services will take place on Tuesday
at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment to follow
at the family plot. By request of the family in lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to the Jackson's Arm Anglican Church Fund. Funeral arrangements
were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.
