Born: February 21st, 1938
Passed on: September 13th, 2015

George died peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on the opening weekend of the moose hunting season after a long illness which he bore with his usual qualities of courage, stubbornness and humour. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Patricia, his beloved children Mary Flynn (Ed), Carolyn Beausoleil (Stephane), Janice Morris (Eric), Michael (Meagan), and his cherished grandchildren Alexandra, Michael, Lauren, Gwyneth, Nicolas, Evan, Isabelle, Simon and Clara. He leaves four sisters, Joan Grant (Gordon), Phyllis Baird (Gerry), Audrey Findlay (Ray), and Edythe Doiran, and their children Lisa, Joanne, Patty, Karen, Gerry, Bob, Bill, Shirley, Michelle and Jennifer. He will also be missed by his two sisters-in-law Judith Fraser and Ursula Monaghan and their children Susan, Steven, Sara, Tom, Andrew and Peter. George was proud of his Newfoundland roots and was happiest outdoors hunting, fishing, berry picking, camping, and clam digging. He had a broad general knowledge and an opinion on any topic that would arise. His artistic flair extended to fly tying and woodworking; he loved classical music and was passionate about the opera. His dinner parties allowed him to display his culinary skills using food he had caught, hunted or grown himself. He loved travelling and spent many years introducing his children to the beauties of many different countries. The love of his children was manifested by the support and concern they showed their Dad in his last year of life. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 17th, 2015 at 10:30 am from the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Edward Terry officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home 4 St. Mark's Avenue Wednesday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. SIMON, Clyde
Born: November 14th, 1941
Passed on: September 26th, 2015

It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Clyde Joseph Simon. With our mom, dad shared 53 devoted years of love, laughter and memories. He was an excellent father who was always there for his children and a proud grandfather to his grandson. Dad was a wonderful person who found joy in helping his family and friends. He worked many years as an ironworker, but his biggest enjoyment was the outdoors. If his garage door wasn't opened, then dad was in the woods either fishing, hunting or picking berries. His love and respect for nature was evident by the stories he told when he returned home. He will be remembered as a kind, generous person who you'd find shoveling a neighbor's driveway, bringing a moose roast to a friend, or helping his family with a renovation project. Dad was a loving, active, and hardworking man who was taken from us too soon, but he will be with us in heart and spirit forever. Leaving to mourn is his wife, our mom, Muriel (Dennis), children Clarissa (Steven Pushmen), Amanda (Kevin MacNeil), and Craig (Kyle Turner) and treasured grandson, Benjamin Simon Pushman. Brothers Bernard (Delores), Roy (Marie), and Aaron (Tish). Sisters Cynthia (Bill Ficzere), Iona (Colin Keating), and Debbie (Arthur Murphy). Brothers-in-law Jody (Monica), Daniel, Jarvis, Gerard (Bernadette), and Ron (Maureen). Sisters-in-law Marie Quann, Veronica Brown (John), Elizabeth Benoit, Lillian Marche, Emma Woods (Nishie), and Alma Martin (Richard). Close friends Maureen and Wayne Simon, special nephews, nieces, family and friends. Dad was predeceased by his parents Annie (Benoit) and Yves Simon, parents-in-law, Anne Bridget (Hinks) and James Dennis, infant sister Roberta, brother-in-law Michael Dennis and sister-in-law Theresa Langdon. We would like to acknowledge and thank those who cared for dad during his illness. In particular our Uncle Daniel who spent countless hours as a caregiver and companion to dad, and the staff with STR hospital, who treated dad with respect and kindness during his time with them. As well, to all those who sent cards, phone calls, visited and offered prayers and support during this extremely sad and difficult time, we thank you. Funeral Mass will take place 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Stephen's Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations to the STR Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

John Patrick Tobin
passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on the morning of September 16, 2015 in Kamloops, BC. It was not with a weak heart, but with a heart full of love, warmth, compassion and courage in which he left this Earth, content in knowing he had fulfilled his life here. Our dad was a true Newfoundlander, fiercely proud of his roots. He loved fishing, he had a wonderful sense of humour and he stood up for what he believed in. Predeceased by his wife Gloria Tobin (1992), son Johnny Tobin (1977) and son-in-law Ben Uri (1988) and survived by his 10 children and their families: Helen Prouse (Dan) and children Steven and Kerry; Joan Taylor and children Christian, Life and Namaste; Tom Tobin (Marlene) and children Jim, Tina and Jacob; Peggy Tobin and children Dylan, Seth, Swanee, Bailey and Keadon; Debbie Tobin and children Callie and Landon; Gertrude Uri and children Katie and Luke; Colleen Tobin and children Natasha, Tyrel, Sheldon and Keosha; Chris Tobin (Chelann) and children Nathan and Tanner; Pam Tobin (John) and children Tara, Ryan and Kamille; Michael Tobin (Caren) and children Taylor and Dallas and 38 great-grandchildren. Our dad overcame many great challenges and lived to write a memoir of his legacy to forever remain with his family. With the words of an old Irish verse: "May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back; may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rains falls soft upon your fields, and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand." A celebration of Jack's life will include prayers on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 7 pm at OLPH Church, 635 Tranquille Road; Funeral Mass and graveside service on Monday, September 21, 2015 at 11 am at OLPH Catholic Church with a reception to follow.
