ALEXANDER, Bertha
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Alexander announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center on Thursday, September 12th, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her three sons: John (Irene) in Moncton, New Brunswick, Tom (Anne) in London, Ontario and Allan (Mary) in Kippens; her brothers: Norbett O'Quinn in Kippens and Melvin O'Quinn in St. John, New Brunswick, her sisters: Agnes in Kippens, Elizabeth in St. John's, Lorna and Patricia both in the United States, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Samuel and son Hilary. The family will be receiving friends on Monday, September 16th 2013 from 7-9 p.m. from Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive in Stephenville. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 17th at 10 a.m. from St. Stephen's Parish on West Street with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Baldwin announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Friday September 20, 2013 at the age of 73 years. He leaves to mourn his son Martin (Marium) Baldwin in Nasseau Bahamas and his granddaughter Zara, his daughter Tracie (Sean) MacMullin in Sydney, NS and his grandson Christopher. Also leaving to mourn his five brothers Roy, Derek, Calvin, Dave, Ken all in Corner Brook, his sisters Marie Thomas in Port aux Basques, Muriel Fever in St. John's, Barb Baldwin in Halifax and a large circle of relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Borden W. Beattie announce his passing at his residence in Florida on Friday, September 20th, 2013 at the age of 70. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Bonnie, his children: Sharon Beattie (Jeff), St. John's, NL, Jillian (Darren) Langdon, Deer Lake, NL, Brad Beattie (Stacie), Deer Lake, NL and Heather (Damian) Randell, Fort McMurray, AB, his grandchildren: Kennedy, Brooke, Brett, Drew and Reese and his sister Joy (Aubrey) Ayer, Ottawa, ON, sister-in-law Donna Chaulk, Deer Lake, NL, sister-in-law Irene (Carl) Copp, Oakville, ON, and brother-in-law Brad Chaulk (Alana). He is predeceased by his parents Earl and Mildred Beattie and parents-in-law Bruce and Rose Chaulk. He also leaves a large circle of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. BENNETT, Reginald (Reg)
Gone to his heavenly rest, Reg leaves to mourn his son James (Pam Holobow), granddaughter Jamie Alexis, daughter Tracy Macleod (Brad) and their mother Cheryl Messervey, all in B.C. also left with cherished memories are his sons: Danny (Tara), grandson Nicholas, Alberta, his youngest son, business partner and friend Mark (Stephanie), granddaughter Sophia, Stephenville Crossing. His family who loved him dearly, sister Joan Lawrence (Ron), ON, Sylvia Alexander (Cyril), Stephenville, Louise Johnston (Bruce), ON, Gladys March (Glenn), Stephenville, Judy Gallant (Abe), Kippens, Bert (Shawnie), Corner Brook, Brent (Joey), Angie Ingraio, ON and special sister-in-law Martha Bennett, North River, CBS, NL. He leaves his family of "men" who worked for him and with him for so many years especially his buddy Cyril Bennett, who was like his brother and reliable Derick Parson, who he could always count on. He was a favourite uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to so many. Also missing him are Danny and Mark's Nan and Pop (Del and Herman Parsons) and the Parsons' family and Cal and Martina Swyers. Meeting him in heaven are his parents: Bert and Doris Bennett, brother Eugene and son Brent. Reg's greatest gift to us was his ability to say "I love you" so freely and so openly. BISHOP, Vincent Alan
February 23, 1946 - September 19, 2013

Passed away Thursday, September 19th, 2013 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital after a brief illness, Vincent Alan Bishop at the age of 67. He will be sadly missed by his four brothers: Graham (Agnes), Gary (Madeline), John (Judy) and Donald; brother-in-law Thomas Thistle; nieces and nephews: Lisa (Trevor), Cindy (Patrick), Janet (Christopher), Sandra, Gary (Tina), Wayne (Kim), Martin, Shane, Shannon, Sherri Ann, Susan, Karen & Tommy; Uncle Gerald Bishop (Mary), Aunt Joan Evans, as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, other relatives & his many friends and the staff of the Lohnes Complex, who were so dear to him over the last few years. Vincent was predeceased by his parents Frederick & Mary, sister Heather Thistle, uncle Harry Bishop and nephew Craig Gillam. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hedley "Blinkers" Downton announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on September 1, 2013 at the age of 94. Blinkers was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion; 125 NFLD Squadron RAF and Allied Air Forces association; Union Jack Club - London. He retired from Abitibi. Predeceased by his wife, Bernie. Left with fond and loving memories are his sons: Hedley Jr. (Jane) of Suffern, N.Y., USA and Kieron (Lorraine) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are: brother, Roland; sister, Janet; grandchildren: Ryan (Texas), Keelan (Virginia) and Regan (New York). Father William Hearn conducted the funeral service at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception on September 7, 2013. Today, our world is a little grayer; the sun shines a little less brightly, because today we start a lifetime without you. Frank passed away peacefully after courageous battle against cancer on September 13th, 2013, at the age of 52. Leaving to mourn are his siblings Dianne Rose (Curtis), Bernard Noseworthy (Jackie), Judy Burridge (Danny), Eva Kays (Edward), Ron Noseworthy (Carol), David Noseworthy (Lisa) and Kimberly Power (George). David attended Memorial University in St. John's where he received a Bachelor of Commerce and did his post graduate diploma in Hospital Administration at the University of Toronto. Predeceased by parents Eli John (Jack) and Diana Osmond (nee Skanes). David worked at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook, NL before moving to Nova Scotia in 2002, where he took positions with Cape Breton Regional Health Authority in Sydney and Capital Health in Halifax. David served on the National Board of Canadian College of Health Services Executives 1992-1995. Served on committees of the Newfoundland Health Boards Association and was a member of the City of Corner Brook Disaster Planning Committee. David served his community in a voluntary capacity on a number of boards, Town Council and Church. As well, he participated in a number of service organizations. He tutored Laubach Literacy of Canada in Corner Brook where he provided service to the local Learning Center. Was a member of District 3 School Board, was Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor, Town of Pasadena, NL. Director Junior Achievement of Western Newfoundland. On moving to Halifax, David found a warm welcome at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Birch Cove where he served on a number of committees and served as a Lay reader. With his loving family at his bedside, Bren (aged 71) passed peacefully into the arms of the angels after a long and arduous journey with Alzheimer's Disease. Bren was predeceased by his only son Brendan (February 2, 2002), mother Mabel, father Bren (Sr.), brother Robert, sister Katherine and nephew Robert (Jr.). Left to mourn yet cherish wonderful memories is Janet, his loving wife of 49 years, best friend, and caregiver to the end. Also left mourning but filled with loving childhood memories to make them strong in adulthood, are his two daughters, Heather Power (John Healey), and Deanne (Kent Toms); daughter-in-law Yvonne Power. Left only with memories of easy-going, happy times with Poppy are his adoring grandchildren - grandson, Stephen Greene, granddaughter, Sydney Ann Toms, and "chosen" granddaughter, Janet Byrnes. In their eyes Poppy will always be "the best". Bren also leaves behind his sister, Rosalind (brother-in-law, Wayne Smith), St. John's; sister-in-law, Stella Power, St. John's; brothers-in-law, Edward Sandeman, St. John's; Fred Fitzgerald, (Margie), St. George's; Keith Fitzgerald, (Margie), Bay Robert's; sisters-in-law Sharron Selent, Edmonton; and Heather ("chosen" daughter) (Bob Byrnes), Stephenville; along with a large circle of nephews, nieces, cousins and many, many friends and former business associates. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 52 years, Simon Tucker, her furry friend Newf, and her eight children: Leonard Tucker (Hazel), St. Anthony, Rosemary Parsons (Randy), Summerside, Nancy McCarthy, Corner Brook, Marie Blundon (Robert), Corner Brook, Wanda Brake (Michael), Meadows, Robert Tucker (Nancy), Meadows, Johnny Tucker (Twila), Summerside and Kevin Tucker (Sandra), Meadows. Her 14 grandchildren that she adored: Tanya McCarthy (Duane), Krista Tucker-Dunphy (Jon), she was so proud of her granddaughter Dr. Amanda Tzenov (Youlian), Melissa Parsons (Garret), Randi-Megan Parsons (Dale), Stephen McCarthy (Andrea), Angela McCarthy (Neil), Thomas (Tommy) Blundon (Jen), Michelle Brake (Michael), Alexander Brake (Courtney), Jonathan Leroy (Cindy), Robin Tucker (Lewis), Sarah (Stephen) and Tanisha Tucker, 5 great grandchildren whom Nan Tucker cherished: Dominic Combdon, Ilsa Mae Brake, Emily McCarthy, Owen McCarthy, and Hailey Leroy. Sisters Anne Hollahan (Kevin), Bridget Small (Kenneth), and Francis Elson (Alan), special niece Laura, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by son in law Sean McCarthy, her parents William and Anne Pearce, her sister Rosemary, brothers Patrick, Gerald, Bernard, and Leonard, father and mother in law, Arthur and Eliza Tucker, sister in laws Regina, Stella, Bridget and brother in law Hedley. Family gatherings will never be the same, and we will all miss the fresh buns and hot bread. Mom's strength, sense of humor, faith and love for family will live on.
