It is with great sadness that the family of the late Margaret (Bourgeois) Annis announce her passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the age of 82 years. She will be sadly missed by her brother, Howard (Nancy) Bourgeois of Winterhouses, 2 sisters: Eva Rose of Stephenville, Imelda Penney of Kippens and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Martin and Annie Bourgeois and her three brothers: Edward, Cecil and Hughie Bourgeois. Visitation took place on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville. BILLARD, Walter Stephen
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Walter Stephen Billard announce his passing at the Health Science Center St. John's, NL on September 18th, 2012. Predeceased by parents: Gabriel and Bessie; grandchildren: Stephen (Kristina), Mark (Jacqueline), Denny (Rochelle), Cavell (Sam); great grandchil Billard; sister: Eva. Leaving to mourn is his wife Margaret of 66 years, son: Denny (Carol); daughter: Jolene dren: Abby, Katie, Hannah, Katie, Evan and Lucas. Walter began his career as a teacher and later become employed by the Federal Government and worked for the last 38 years of his career as a customs officer. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be truly missed by all of his family and friends. Cremation by Barrett's Funeral Home, Mt. Pearl, NL. CAMPBELL, Lester
Born: March 1st, 1948
Passed on: September 8th, 2012

It is with profound grief and overwhelming sadness that we, the family of the late Lester Campbell, announce his passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL at the age of 64, after a courageous battle with cancer. Les was born in Liverpool England, and raised in St. John's, NL, but spent his entire working life in Stephenville. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 38 years, Carol Ann (MacGillivray), by his son Paul (Tammie) of Saint John, NB, his two daughters Jennifer (Yanick) of Montreal, PQ, and Lesley of Vancouver, BC, his sister Eileen of Halifax, NS and grandchildren Alex and Emma as well as a large number of loving family and friends. Les was predeceased by his father James Campbell of Liverpool, England and mother Adeline (Stapleton) of St. Mary's Bay, NL. A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, Les taught English in Stephenville for 38 years, spending the majority of his time teaching at St.Stephen's High School. He spent the past few years, post-retirement, teaching Adult Education at Western College. An avid sports fan, Les played and coached basketball and also spent a great deal of time curling, golfing and swimming. Kind, gentle and humble in life, Les gave his time freely to make the town he loved a better place. He graciously served various notable and worthwhile causes, such as, the St. Vincent de Paul society, the Stephenville Airport Corporation, the Harmon Field Day Committee and the Bay St. George Sick Children's Foundation. For his "significant contributions to his community" he was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002. Resting at Russell's funeral home in Stephenville, visitation hours will be held on Monday September 10th and Tuesday September 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral will take place at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on Wednesday September 12th at 10:00 am. Internment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children's Foundation, or a charity of one's choice.

CARBERRY, Colette Mahala
Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer at her residence in Brampton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 16, 2012, Colette Carberry, formerly of Burgoynes Cove, aged 48 years. Predeceased by grandparents Sidney and Lillian Green; Mark and Mahala Clarke. Left with fond and loving memories her parents Clarence and Irene Green; daughter Danielle (Eldon); son Skylar (Melinda); grandchildren: Cerria and Jordon; sisters: Donna (Roy), Melissa (Wally), Lillian (Don), Meta (James) and Annette (Gerald); brothers: Sterling (Trudy) and Tony (Brenda); two special nephews: Riley and Kyle and a large circle of family and friends. COLLINS, Rev. Father John
Born: November 14th, 1935
Passed on: September 17th, 2012
Passed peacefully away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Monday, September 17, 2012, Father John Collins in his 77th year. Predeceased by his parents Thomas Clement Collins and Mary E. (Lillian) (nee Kelly) of Allan's Island, Lamaline. Also predeceased by his sisters: Ellen (Burofsky) and Marion (Winslow), brothers: James, Patrick, William and Thomas. Father Collins is survived by his sisters: Rosalie (Rowsell) of Brampton, Ontario and Catherine (Calvin) Mayo of Ontario. Special niece, Anne Marie (John) Drysdale of Ellershouse, Nova Scotia as well as a large number of nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his fellow priests and the many friends he made while serving in so many communities. Father Collins grew up on Allan's Island, Lamaline and attended All Hallows Seminary, Dublin, Ireland. He was ordained on June 11, 1960 and spent his entire career in the Diocese of St. George's. He served as Parish Priest at Piccadilly, St. Fintan's, Pasadena, Curling, St. George's and Deer Lake. He retired in August, 2001 and took up residence in Stephenville. His remains will be at St. Stephen's Church, Stephenville at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 19th for a Vigil Service. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church. Cremation to follow. Interment will be at the Priest's Plot at Mount Patricia Cemetery in Corner Brook on Friday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Father Collins' name to the "Shepherd Fund." Most importantly, though, Tina was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Tina was co-founder of the League of Artists of Western Newfoundland (LAWN), serving as its first president. She was renowned for her talents as a portrait artist, having received international acclaim for her "Sensuality of the Maturing Woman" exhibition. As a singer, she performed in several groups and as a soloist within the local area. Tina served on the board of directors for the Western Memorial Hospital Foundation for many years and was the Decorating Chair of the Annual Hospital Gala. She was also chair of the Association of Cultural Industries. Tina served on the organizing committees for the East Coast Music Awards, winning an honorary ECMA as Volunteer of the Year. Never one to rest on her accomplishments, Tina returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and graduated in 2002, receiving an award of excellence for her outstanding accomplishments. Tina leaves to mourn her devoted husband Jerry George, sons Devan and Tyler Burry, parents Earl and Ina, father-in-law Dougal, brothers Mike (Bev), Sean (Kim Thistle), brother-in-law Bob (Patty) nephews Alex and Zack, nieces Ashley and Jesse, as well as hundreds of friends and acquaintances who had the privilege of being touched by her beautiful spirit. , born May 5, 1945 to Stephen and Victoria Pottle, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2012. He will be lovingly remembered by his partner and best friend Yvonne, two daughters: Amanda and Rebecca (very special son-in-law Jeff King), grandchildren: Sydney Mae, Seth, Piper, Paxton and Tommy King, Ella and Caleb and former wife Ellen, brothers: Norman (Lorraine), Ray (Kathy), Earl (Evelyn), Jim (Violet), sisters: Ivy, Joan (Larry), Shirley (Ron), Blanche (Larry), Linda (Ron), Darlene (Doug), extended family: Patricia Simon (Aaron), Colleen Healey, Lori Healey, Maureen McClary (Patrick), Jim Healey (Linda), Robert Healey (Denise), Ron Healey, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, special-in-laws: Calvin and Catherine Hart, his legion family and numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother and father, four brothers and four sisters. After serving 33 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, Steve retired in 2001. He was very active in various organizations. He was past provincial president of the Legion (NL), president of the Stephenville branch of the Legion, Steve was on the hospital board and on the recreational committee. He was very active with golfing, curling and loved the thrill of the hunt. We will forever treasure the time we were blessed to have him with us. The family of Barb Rowsell announce her passing on September 12, 2012, following a brief illness in London, Ontario, where she has been living for the last 30 years. Barb was born on June 4, 1925 in Curling, the daughter of Sidney Dunlop Cook (S.D. Cook) who was from Fogo and Isabella Lydia Cook (nee Lynfield) from Twillingate. She was the last surviving sibling of the S.D. Cook family. Left to mourn is her devoted son Gary and her daughters: Donna and Pauline. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren Max and Ian Rowsell. Cremation took place under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home in London, Ontario.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alice White announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the age of 83 years. She will be sadly missed by her 3 sons: Eugene (Tanya) of Lambeth, Ontario, David (Peggy) of Petersburg, Ontario, Christopher (Jody) of Oshawa, Ontario, 2 daughters: Patricia White of Timberlea, Nova Scotia, Barbara (Paul) Michaud of Riverview, New Brunswick, 3 sisters: Anora Orr and Mary Cook, both of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Margaret Schwager of Trenton, Ontario, 8 grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Harold White and her 3 brothers. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Tuesday, October 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, October 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Parish, West Street, Stephenville with Interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Hansen Highway, Stephenville. It is with sadness that we advise of the death of Effie Mary White. Effie was two months from her 102nd birthday when she passed away on 21 September, 2012, at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Home. She was predeceased by her son David, her sisters: Regina, Millie, Angela, Doris and Muriel and her brothers: John and James. She leaves behind with loving memories her son Jack, her daughter-in-law Margaret, her grandson Dwayne, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. At Effie's request, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in her memory to the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre.
