It is with great sadness that the family of the late Rose Eliza Fillatre announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Sunday, August 1, 1999. She will be sadly missed by her two sons: Paul of Yellowknife, NWT, and Glen of Toronto, ON; her mother, Mrs. Laura Hunt of St. George's; four sisters: Ann (Mrs. William McLean) of Fort Smith, NWT, Helen (Mrs. Joseph Lawrence) of Corner Brook, Ruby (Mrs. Brian Butt) of St. George's, Joanne (Starr) (Mrs. Anthony Gallant) of Stephenville; four brothers: William (Linda) of Fort McMurray, AB, Winston (Louise) of Ikaluite (Frobisher Bay), Allison and David (Karen) of St. George's and families. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation will take place on Monday 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 10-12 noon at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 7 West St., Stephenville Crossing. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Barachois Brook, with Rev. Karen Laldin and Rev. Hubert Coombs officiating. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to All Saint's Anglican Church, Stephenville Crossing.

RIDEOUT, Gregory Alfred William
Deer Lake, NF
(Formerly of Botwood, NF)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gregory Alfred William Rideout announce his passing on Saturday, July 31, 1999 at his family residence at the age of 19 years. He will be sadly missed by his mother Gertrude Rideout and step-father Gordon Dawe; son Cameron Boone; special friend Kayla Moores; grandparents Charlie and Trixie Dicks; four sisters: Christine Rideout (Paul Mills), Cynthia Rideout (Eugene Stuckless), Jonie Rideout (Joe Lambert), and Amy Rideout; three brothers: Lester, Leonard and Jamie (Paulette Newhook). Also a large circle of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Alfred Rideout, grandparents George and Annie Rideout and grandmother Sarah Dicks. Visitation took place from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Deer Lake, on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place today, Monday, August 2nd at 1 p.m. from the Salvation Army Citadel, Deer Lake, with Captains Wade and Linda Buddgell officiating, from where he will be transferred to Botwood for visitation on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m.. from the Salvation Army citadel. Interment will be held Tuesday, August 3rd, at the Salvation Army Citadel Cemetery, Botwood. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Deer Lake.

FLYNN, Michael

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Michael Flynn announce his passing at his residence in Stephenville Crossing on Thursday, July 29th, 1999 at the age of 57 years. He will be sadly missed by his fiancee, Dolores Young and one daughter, Christine Peggy Flynn in Revelstoke, British Columbia and three brothers: Nicholas Flynn, Ignatius Flynn, Gervais Flynn, all in West Bay and three sisters: Ida Kerfont in Ontario, Theresa McIsaac in Stephenville, Evelyn Adams in Arkansas; a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Chrisine Flynn and his two brothers, Ellis and Alban (Abby) Flynn. Funeral services will take place on Monday, August 2nd at 2 p.m. from Assumption Parish in Stephenville Crossing with interment in the Assumption Parish Cemetery on Brook Street in Stephenville Crossing. Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Russell's Funeral Home, Station Road in Stephenville Crossing.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Cecil Mauger announce his death Friday, July 30th, 1999, at this family residence at Petites in his 58th year. He is survived by his daughter Paula of Ontario; 3 grandsons, Justin of Halifax, Lucus and Joshua of Alberta, 1 granddaughter Danielle of Ontario, 1 sister Elsie of NF and 3 brothers, Wilfred and Herb of Nova Scotia, Danny of NF and a number of relatives and friends. Funeral services took place 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wesley United Church with Effie Hewitt officiating. Interment to follow at church's cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Florence Thomas announce her passing on Friday, July 30th, 1999 at the W.M.R. Hospital in her 70th year. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Albert; three daughters: Joan Pinksen of Sops Arm, Dulcy (Mrs. Douglas Brett) of Labrador City and Inid (Mrs. Wayne Spurrell) of Pollards Point; four sons: Ivan and friend Marina, Ron and wife Christine, Calvin and girlfriend Hughena all of Deer Lake, and Neil and wife Ruby of Trenton, Ontario; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Daisy (Mrs. Alfred Pearce) of Deer Lake, and Joan (Mrs. Marden Bennett) of Ontario; six brothers: Calvin and wife Gertie, Doyle and wife Katie all of Beachside, NF, Selby and wife Olive of Summerfort, NF, Carl and wife Marion of Peterbrough, Ontario, Willis of Deer Lake and Gus and wife Lisa of Grand Falls, NF. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ruby in 1953, brother Eric in 1963, son-in-law Douglas in 1996 and granddaughter Linda in 1964. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake today, Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Simms officiating, with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery in Cormack. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edna Pearl Torraville announce her passing at the Allan Gray Centre, Edmonton, AB., on July 31, 1999. Mrs. Torraville was predeceased by her father and mother, Charles and Mabel Chaulk, twin brothers, Allen and Boyd Chaulk and husband Heber Torraville in 1982. At the time of her passing, Mrs. Torraville was residing with her son Harvey and his wife Vonnie in Edmonton, AB, formally of Corner Brook, NF. Mrs. Torraville leaves to mourn daughter Vivan Ward of British Columbia; sons: Harvey (Vonnie) of Edmonton, AB, and Richard (Jenny) of Toronto, ON; sisters: Vera Lang of Corner Brook (Massey Drive), Louise English of Codroy Valley, NF, and Lorraine of British Columbia; brother Glen Chaulk (Louise) of Corner Brook (Massey Drive) and step-brother Norman Chaulk (Janet) of Toronto, ON. Mrs. Torraville will be sadly missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also many relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. David Church, Edmonton, AB, on Thursday, August 5, 1999.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles A. Bennett announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1999, at the age of 86 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Magdalen, nee Gaudon, his four sons: Bryan (Melina) in Port au Port, Percy (Loretta) in Avondale, Calvin (Judy) in Dartmouth, NS and Gerard (Mary) in Bradford, ON, his two daughters: Rona (Kenneth) Home in Readfield, M.E., and Bernadette (David) Smith in Brantford, ON. He also leaves to mourn three sisters: Cecilia (Robert F.) Westfall in Kansas, Missouri, Rita (Elmer) Smith in Virginia and Veronica Mullin in Whitby, ON, 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his son Earl in 1963. He was also predeceased by his brothers: Michael, Cornelius, Harry, Aloysuis, Arnold and by his sisters: Eileen, Helen and Teresa. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 5th, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Stephen's Parish on West Street with interment in the R.C. Cemetery on West Street. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

It is with sadness that the family of the late Cicily Cole announce her passing on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1999 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years. Leaving to mourn six children: Gertie Earle, Corner Brook, Phyllis (Keith) Baine, Cambridge, ON, Shirley Pond (Ron Chretian), Yellowknife, N.W.T., Herbert Cole, Corner Brook, Robert (Eva) Cole, Corner Brook and Linda Cassar, Toronto, ON; two sisters: Lillian Parsons, Victoria, Carbonear, Mildred Slade, Salmon Cove, Conception Bay; one brother Herbert (Meta) Slade, Salmon Cove, Conception Bay; 33 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Moses Cole (1954), son Robert (1942), daughter Mary Mullins (1997), sons-in-law Alexander Mullins (1994), Clyde Earle (1998), sister Ceen King (1999), sister Gertie Ashe and brother-in-law Robert Ashe, also grandson Bruce Earle (1990). The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m., Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Friday 10-12 noon. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 6th, at 2:00 p.m. from the Oakland United Church, with Rev. John Adams officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Samuel Baggs announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1999 at the age of 79 years. He will be sadly missed by his two sons: Nathan (Debra) in Stephenville and Warren (Dianne) in Port aux Basques, two daughters: Ruby (Larry) Bentley in Stephenville and Eileen (Roland) Gale in Stephenville, one brother John Baggs in Halifax and one sister Mary Kendall in St. David's, 11 grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Grace in 1988. Funeral service will take place Friday, August 6th, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. from St. James Anglican Church in Port aux Basques with interment in the Anglican Cemetery. Friends may call at Ford's Funeral Home in Port aux Basques on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Flowers or donations to a charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Emily Victoria Ropson announce her passing on Tuesday, August 3rd, 1999 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 75th year. She will be sadly missed by her loving companion Willis Loder, two sons: Winston and wife Rachel of Harbour Deep and Barry and wife Barbara of Churchill Falls, Labrador, four daughters: Georgina and husband Wilfred Kinsella of St. Anthony, Doris and husband Norman Okihiro of Halifax, Tiffany and husband Dennis Squires of St. John's and Belinda and husband Elvis Loder of Sops Arm, 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, one sister, Isabella Cassell of Jacksons Arm and her special nephew Hayward and wife Rachel Andrews of Jacksons Arm. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Francis in March 1976, daughters: Julia and Cecile, grandchildren, Denise, Alvin and son-in-law Claude, her sisters: Edith and Gertrude and her brother Elioil. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Jacksons Arm today, Thursday, where also funeral services will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Woodman officiating. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his children: Gary (Geraldine), Port aux Basques, Terry (Dale), Winnipeg, MB, Judy Nantais (Eugene), Welland, ON, Rhonda Way (Abe), and Kathleen Byrne (Kurt), Fort McMurray, AL; three grandchildren: Christopher and Michelle O'Brien and Michael Way; one brother, James (Ann) O'Brien, Burlington, ON; four sisters: Marie Hunter (Richard), Burlington, ON, Helen Taeigraet (Robert), Dalton, Mass.,USA, Agnes Hunt (Lawrence), Harbour Grace, and Dorothy Park (Robert), BC; very special friend, Jane Allen, Daniel's Harbour, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (nee Edwards) in 1978 and brother Michael O'Brien, 1969. He will be sadly missed by his family: daughters: Christine McCarthy (Jack), Alice Delaney, Peggy Morey (Jim), Charlotte Snow, Blanche Fitzgerald, Leona Wilton (Terry), Stella Fitzgerald and Bernice Fitzgerald all residing at Corner Brook, Mary Fitzgerald (Gary) at St. Catherines and Tena Vivian at Toronto; sons: Joe Brown at New Brunswick, Clifford Fitzgerald at British Columbia, Bill Fitzgerald (Celine) at Benoits Cove, Michael and Robert Fitzgerald at Toronto and Tom Fitzgerald (Helen) at Corner Brook, 44 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren. He will also be missed by a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Eunice 1985, daughters: Ellen Eliza, Emma Bursey, Agnes Banks, son Benjamin, grandchildren; Catherine Fitzgerald and Brian Morey. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church on Mount Bernard Ave., with Father Peddle officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Wellington Funeral Home, 31 Wellington Street, Friday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters: Lori-Ann of Ontario, Jessica of Stephenville; son Andre of Corner Brook; mother, Angnes Poole of Morgan Town, West Virginia. She also leaves to mourn sisters: Mary McGraw and husband Mac of Texas, Margaret Rose-Hynes of Stephenville, Anne Scott of Stephenville, Stella Barter and husband Alex of Cold Brook; brothers: Eugene, Kenneth, John, Joseph, Mike, all of Stephenville, Patrick of Brandon, Manitoba and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 25 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville, on Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., Sunday 10-12 noon. Born to Sean and Anna-Marie McCarthy on June 11, 1999 at the S.A. Grace Hospital, St. John's, NF, a baby boy, Liam Kevin Joseph. Proud grandparents are Kevin and Eva McCarthy and Bill and Maxine Halfyard. Liam is the great grandson of Nellie Hayes and Sarah Strickland.

Paul and Belinda (Bunny) Loder are very pleased to announce the arrival of their first child, a precious baby girl, Kiana Starr. Kiana was born on May 28th weighing 7 lbs. 10 1/2 oz. Proud grandparents are Maxine & Alvin Loder of Summerside and Linda & Terry Wheeler of Hughes Brook. Paul & Bunny would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Culliton, nurse Debbie Major, nurses on OBS and Tina Brake, who was a wonderful coach.

of Meadows celebrated 50 years of marriage with a reception in their home with daughters Delilah (Bern) Noseworthy, Corner Brook and Juanita (Gary) Wheeler, Meadows and family and friends. They have four grandchildren: Jason, Andre and Yolande Noseworthy and Blair Wheeler. Jason Noseworthy, the eldest grandson was emcee at the reception. Mr. and Mrs. Legge were congratulated from the Premier's office. In attendance were Bessie Wells, Mr. Legge's sister and the couples bridesmaid and Mrs. Legge's sisters Elsie Legge and Ada Parsons of Meadows. The couple were married in the Anglican Church in Meadows July 16, 1949.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Susie Parsons (nee Osmond); four daughters: Brenda (John Street), Harriet (Robert Bragg) of Port aux Basques, Delores (Ralph Drake) of Belloram, Annie (Cecil Savoury) of Moncton. Four sons: Brian (fiancee Tracy) of Port aux Basques, Robert (fiancee Melita) of Halifax, Jason (fiancee Natalie) of St. John's, NF and Jamie of Port aux Basques. 14 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; two brothers: Arthur (Geraldine) of Halifax, Henry (Winnie) of Port aux Basques. Two sisters: Julie (George) of Port aux Basques, and Winnie of Burgeo, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his three brothers, William, Jimmy, Gordon and his parents Richard and Sarah Parsons (Youngs). She was predeceased by her husband, Walter, and her son, Larus. A memorial mass will be celebrated for the late Maureen Dunphy Grybowski at the Sacred Heart Church, Curling on Thursday, August 12th at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Following interment a reception will be held at the Glynmill Inn for family and friends.

She passed peacefully away on May 17, 1999, at Vancouver General Hospital Palliative Care after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was sixty-two.

Passed peacefully away at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday, August 25, 1999, Lawrence (Larry) Seaward in his 86th year. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita; and three children: Kevin, George and Irene. Leaving to mourn: one son, Paul (Sheila) of Corner Brook; six daughters: Sister Kieran of St. Patrick's Convent, St. John's, Mary Harriman (Jim) of Toronto, ON, Rita Corcoran (Danny) of Quispamsis, NB, Lorraine Gillingham (Paul), Bernie Meiwald (Don) of Corner Brook, Louise Seaward-Gagnon (Real - accent over e) of Cornwall, PEI; two brothers: Bill Seaward (Anne), Jack Seaward of South Brook; two sisters: Levy Walsh, Florry Smith (Ed) of Corner Brook; and one sister-in-law, Agatha, also of South Brook; nine grandchildren: Janice Spencer (Mike), Darren Gillingham, Jeffrey and Peter Harriman, Danielle and Laura Corcoran, Paul and Stephanie Seaward, Allison Meiwald; and a large number of nieces and nephews. The death of William A. Keeping, husband of Muriel (Forward) Keeping, of Willow Grove, NB, occurred on August 24, 1999, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Lourdes, Nfld., he was the son of Marguerite and his stepfather James Vallis. He served with the Canadian Navy and was employed as a Marine Engineer with Atlantic Towing. He was a member of the Main Brace Naval Veteran's Club and the Adanac Club. Besides his wife, mother and stepfather, he is survived by stepsons: Shaun Spencer and his wife Heidi of Florida, Chris Spencer and his wife Suzanne of London, Ont.; his daughters: Shannon keeping of Willow Grove, Tanya Keeping of Toronto; his brothers, Gary and his wife Patricia, and Bernard, both of Mississauga, Ont.; his sisters: Cynthia and her husband Jim Skinner of Lourdes, Nfld., Mary and her husband Huw Jenkins of Corner Brook, Nfld., Philomena and her husband Mark Aurini of Halifax; his grandchildren: Kristina and Baillie, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
