It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nina Louise Baldwin announce her passing on Friday August 29, 2014 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 87 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her sons; Auddie (Trudy) Baldwin, Rodney (Wanda) Baldwin, daughters; Nola (Freeman) Park, Sharon (Scott) Brake, Yvonne (Irvine) Park, daughter in law; Kay Baldwin, grandchildren; Jody (Cathy),Baldwin, Joanne (Dave) Woodford, Connie (Byron) Bursey, Lorna (Dustin) Clarke, Corinna (Dwayne) White, Peter (Paula) Brake, Kirby (Glenys) Park, Brad (Angie) Park, Lana (Dion) Park, Landon (Sharon) Park, Terri (Dennis) Park, 19 great grandchildren, brother; Roland (Bessie) Wells, and a large circle of nieces , nephews, other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joan Mary Barry announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Wednesday August 27th, 2014 at the age of 63 years. She will be sadly missed by her husband Willie, her son Keith (Tammy and her son Chase), two grandchildren Sheldon and Brooklynn. She was predeceased by her son Sheldon, mother Ethel, father Harold, two brothers Arthur and Harold (Haddy). She leaves behind George (Ursula) Herritt, Gerard (Christine) Herritt, Lloyd (Margaret) Herritt and Alice Hynes all in Stephenville. She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Barry announce his passing at his family residence in Corner Brook on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the age of 57 years. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Barry Coates announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Sunday August 10th 2014 at the age of 62 years. He will be sadly missed by his mother Blanche Coates in Stephenville Crossing, his three brothers: Tom (Bev), Merlin and Robert, four nieces; Leah Mawer, Karen, Stephanie and Melissa Coates, his two sisters-in-law; Margie White and Jean House and their families along with a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Leonard and the love of his life, his wife Patsy. Barry retired in 2012 after 37 years of proud service to the town of Stephenville. Barry will be remembered for his dedication to help the many organizations in his community. At Barry's request, cremation has taken place. The family will be receiving friends at Russell's Funeral Home, 57 Prince Rupert Drive on Thursday August 14th 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A private service will take place at a later time. COOMBS, Leslie

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leslie Coombs announce his passing on August 5, 2014 at the age of 93 years. Leaving behind his beloved wife of 60 years Jean (nee Lewis); three children: Dr. Heather Coombs, Bruce (Kimberley) Coombs and Brenda (Terry) Anstey; grandchildren: Andrea (Sean) Coombs, Matthew Coombs and Michael Anstey; sister Mary Baines; sister-in-law Verna (Tom) Corder. He also leaves to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents John and Elizabeth Coombs, Shoal Cove West, sister Nellie White and brothers Israel and Lambert Coombs. Many thanks to the health care workers at Corner Brook LTC for their compassionate care in his final years. A great debt of gratitude to his very special caregiver Edna Brake for her day-today support that was truly remarkable. Leslie was an educator for 41 years, retiring as District Superintendent of the Bay of Islands - St. Georges Integrated School Board. During his long career, he had a profound impact on the lives of many students. He served on the provincial executive of the NTA and also served as President of the NL Association of Superintendents of Education. Leslie was a Free Mason and member of the Corner Brook Lodge for 63 years. He was a founding member of the Grand Lodge of NL. He had a great love of music. He was also an avid outdoorsman. Leslie loved nothing more than a day on the river salmon fishing or a winter trek on his cross - country skies. The family received family and friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, St. Mark's Avenue on Thursday, August 7 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street, Corner Brook with The Very Rev. Ada Bennett Dahl
, 77, of Lakewood, New Jersey, died Tuesday August 12, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. Born in Spruce Brook, Newfoundland, she lived in South Amboy before moving to Lakewood in 1965. Before retiring she was employed as a secretary for Ocean Real Estate School, Brick. She was a graduate of St. Michael's High School, Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Bennett, she was also predeceased by her brother, Percy Bennett and her sisters, Viola Dove, Irene Retiff, Laverne Power and Margurite Bennett. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Christian Dahl; her son, Eric Dahl of South Amboy; her brothers, Livie and Melvin Bennett and her sisters, Shiela Bouzane, Olivera Hess, and Jaqui Ingram. Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 17, 2014 at 4:30pm at The Gundrum Service "Home For Funerals" 237 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 5pm.

DALEY, Katherine (nee Wells)

It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Kay Daley announce her passing on August 18th, 2014. Kay will be dearly missed by her husband Cyril who stood by her through many moments of laughter and grief with strength, selflessness and love. Predeceased by her parents Gertrude and Tom Wells, sisters Joan McGrath (Tom) and Trudy Wells; brothers-in-law Harold Daley; parents-in-law Cyril and Sarah Daley, and her much loved Golden Retriever, Shannon. Leaving to mourn her sister Patricia (Allan Noftall), sisters-in-law Mary Daley and Louise Buiteman (Peter), brothers-in-law Gerard Daley (Theresa) and Thomas McGrath; nieces Jennifer, Pamela (Tyler Sherwood), April Adams (Justin), Bridget, Elizabeth, Erika Nason (Randy), Christine (Scott Fraser) and Joanne (Brian Power )and nephew Robert McGrath (Rianne). Also left to mourn great-nieces Rachel, Emily, Sarah, Isabelle, Raili, Reagan and special friends Mary, Joan Marie and many caring friends especially Faustina, Donna, Sister Elizabeth Davis and the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy. Kay also leaves a large circle of friends who knew first hand through Kay and her great heart, the meaning of true friendship. Kay will always be remembered for the uncompromising, generous and visionary direction she brought to the nursing profession in the province. Visitation will be held at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd, on Wednesday August 20th and Thursday August 21st from 2p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Friday August 22nd, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa's Parish with cremation to follow. DINGWELL, Murdoch Edward
Passed on: August 18th, 2014

94, Bedford, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born December 5, 1919, in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late John and Violet (Rogers) Dingwell. Murdoch was in service with the Newfoundland and Canadian Governments for 44 years, first with HM Customs, Port aux Basques, Newfoundland from 1941-1949 and then with Canadian Immigration at the Gander Airport and then in Sydney. Hewas a member of the United Church and attended churches in Newfoundland, St. Andrew's in Sydney and most recently at Knox United in Lower Sackville. Murdoch is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Alma Elvina (Stratton); children, Carson (Debbie) Dingwell, Dartmouth; John Dingwell, Toronto; Margaret (Arleigh) Hillman, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Angela(Dingwell) Woods and Tammy (Dingwell) Cadegan, Fort McMurray; John, Katie and Emily Hillman,Lower Sackville; great grandchildren, Farrah Woods and Kaleigh Cadegan; sisters, Blanche and Rosemary; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Myrtle, Gwen, Joan and Sue; brothers, Rod, Rex and Arch. All are welcome to attend a graveside interment service that will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, in Oakridge Memory Gardens, 1078 Old Sackville Road, Middle Sackville. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley May Drover announce her passing on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 78 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Arthur Drover; children: Jack (Marina), Al (Mavis), Ernie (Lana), Susan (Michel) Locas, Tony (Christine) and Jim (Cheryl); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister June Stone; brother Jack Stuckless; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Jack and Dorothy Stuckless; daughter June Marie, sisters Gertie and Georgina, brothers Al, Doug, Ernie and Bill. DUNPHY, Dorothea Maria

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dorothea Dunphy (nee Coleman) announces her passing in St. John's, NL on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in her 92nd year. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald Joseph, her parents Peter and Bridgit (Ryan) Coleman, her sisters, Mary Daly, Evangeline Barry, Rita Goodridge, and her brother, Wilfred Coleman. She leaves her beloved daughters, Janet Joyce (John) of Peterborough, and Maureen Faour (Fonse) of St. John's, and seven grandchildren: Andrew Joyce, Kingston, ON; Dr. Michael Joyce, Richmond, VA; Richard Joyce, (Juliette) Davis, CA; David Faour (Sarah), Centerville, NS; Elizabeth Faour, St. John's; Peter Faour, Ottawa; and Thomas Faour, Antigonish, NS. Dorothea was born in Badger, and moved to Corner Brook as a small child. Dorothea attended Mount St. Bernard College in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, and St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Boston, MA. Following this, she worked as an operating room nurse in the original Western Memorial Hospital until her marriage. Dorothea was a model for us all in aging with elegance and grace, and loving and supporting her children and grandchildren. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren. She developed a close relationship with each of them and followed their lives and careers with great interest, always providing them with encouragement, and celebrating with them the milestones in their lives. She will be deeply missed by us all. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue from 2 - 4 in the afternoon and 7 - 9 in the evening. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Corner Brook, on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt. Bernard Avenue. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lloyd Follett announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the age of 72 years. Lloyd is survived by his wife Laurie Follett (Nee Cooper); stepchildren: Junior Fitzgerald (Rita), Reg Fitzgerald (Susan-Ann), Darlene Winters (Scott), and Deidre Cooper; one special grand-daughter Anna; one brother Jonah Follett; mother-in-law Phyllis Cooper, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Carrie Follett; parents Helon and Marion Follett; and brother Calvin Follett. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Palliative Care Unit - WMR Hospital, for the excellent care given to Lloyd while a patient there. In honor of Lloyd's wishes cremation has taken place. Grant Laite Hiscock
of St. George's peacefully passed away at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Wednesday August 6th, 2014 at the age of 82 years with loving family members by his side. Grant was born in Corner Brook on January 18th ,1932, second son of the late James and Hazel Hiscock. Grant lived a full and fruitful life having served as a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment, "B" Company for 9 years. He worked for several private companies and retired after working as Civil Servant for Municipal and Provincial Governments. His passion was working to promote our province and help people build and operate small enterprises. He was a supporter of the United Church, Co-operatives, Lions Club, Toastmasters and many, many others but especially the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 38, St. George's. He was predeceased by his wife Audrey Josena (Ruth), brother Gerald and grandson Jonathan. Survived by his wife Eileen (Quilty), sons Fredrick James (Wanda) of Labrador City, Jeffery Todd (Madonna) of Grand Falls- Windsor, Darrel Sean (Donna) of Labrador City, daughters Sandra Joy Ball (Ken) of Mount Vernon, Washington, Catherine Ann Hawkins (Liam) of Didsbury, Alberta; Sons, Robert Grant (Juanita) of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Bradford Douglas (Brenda) of St. Catherines, Ontario, Blair William (Tracey) of Kingston, Ontario and Brian Laite of St. John's. Stepson Justin Scott Quilty of Alberta and stepdaughter Leigh-Ann Quilty of Truro, Nova Scotia. He is further survived by 15 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one step-grandchild. He is also survived by brothers Karl (Francis), Ralph (Marilyn) and sisters Phyllis(Mac) Musseau, Beverly (Gordon) Cartwright and Deborah (Randy) Stratton. The family of Shirley Hynes regret to announce her sudden passing on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the age of 66 years at the Health Science Centre in St. John's after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Peter Kearley announce his peaceful passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital after a courageous and hopeful battle with cancer on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the age of 48 years. He leaves to mourn his wife Rochelle, son Ian, special pal Rocky, parents: David and Mary in Corner Brook, two brothers: Robert (Vanessa) in Calgary, Michael (Jade) in Corner Brook, father and mother in-law Nicholas and Madonna Whelan in Stephenville Crossing, sister-in-law Judy Morgan (Todd) in Kippens, nieces and nephews: Drew, Erin, Logan, Cameron and a large circle of friends, relatives and co-workers. Peter will always be remembered for his total devotion to Rochelle and Ian. He loved life, gaining much joy from his involvement in his son's life which included minor hockey and his recreational sports of skiing and biking. Peter had a positive attitude towards life and was well known for his sense of humour which he maintained through the course of his illness. Peter had a strong work ethic which was apparent through his professionalism and relationships with his co-workers. He was an inspiration to us all. passed peacefully away at the Bonne Bay Health Center in Norris Point on August 27th, 2014 in her 94th year. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Doris O'Leary, Fred Laing (Donna), Gladys Watts (Rod), Boyd Laing (Joyce), and Arlene Laing (Barry); her thirteen grandchildren, Sharon Parsons (Sheldon), Tara Laing (Dawn), Tena Laing (Peter), Darren Laing (Tracey), Jason Watts (Connie), Stacey O'Leary-Agar (Jeff), Jamie Watts (Virginia), Gavin O'Leary, Shana Pittman, Shena Maksymec, Cindy Acton (Ray), Teeara Osbourne (Ryan) & Tessa Lyons-Laing; her ten great-grandchildren, Damien, Nicole, Jenna, Jordyn, Jared, Taylor, Mason, Grayson, Logan and Chelsea; three great-great grandchildren, Allie, Weston, and Easton; her daughter-in-law, Doris Laing, Deborah Lyons, special nephew, Gordon Caines, and the Clarke and Oldford families. She held the honor of being the first Honored Royal Lady and held the position for a number of years. Mom was born December 23, 1926 in Corner Brook, NL. She married Dad on July 31, 1945. They lived for a brief time in Christopher's Cove before settling at 21 Valley Road. She spent most of the years of her life raising ten children. With loving hands she changed many diapers, wiped many runny noses and dried many tears. She spent countless hours in the kitchen making homemade bread and a good pot of soup which were enjoyed not only by her children, but also, countless friends and neighbors. Passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Chancellor Park. Mary Annie Mallay, aged 90 years was a wonderful mother who always put her family first. Mary is predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Patrick. Left with many treasured memories are her children George (Jane), Ernie (Joanne) and Robert (Annette); grandchildren Patrick, Emily, Lauren, Jonathan, Sarah and Michael. Also left to mourn are her sisters Susie French (predeceased by William) of Corner Brook; Gladys Reid (William) of Stephenville and sister-in-law Maime Day (predeceased by Charlie), many nieces and nephews, many good friends in Corner Brook and her friends at Chancellor Park. It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Russell Pike of Pasadena announces his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, on Thursday August 21, 2014 at a youthful age of 81 years. He will be forever missed by his cherished wife and best friend Rita-Bride with whom he shared over 60 years. Dear father of Brian (Janet) Pike, Glynn (Francine) Pike, Sandra (Rick) Cull, and Minnie (Jerome) Downey. He will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his thirteen grandchildren; Lisa, Jimmy, Patti, Shelby, Crystal, Sheila, Morgan, Jordan, Amy, Brett, Rebecca, Megan and Jessie; Step grandchildren Lindsey and Jessica and nine great grandchildren and his pet dogs Mittens,Shadow and Sugar. Dear sister Mildred Dalrymple (Truro, NS), and Gladys MacDonald (Stephenville, NL) and extended family and friends in Newfoundland to Vancouver BC. Predeceased by his parents James and Jessie Pike, brother Lloyd Pike, daughter Sheila Gamble, and granddaughter Melanie-Dawn Gamble. Friends visited St. David of Wales Anglican Church, Fern Place, Pasadena on Friday 7-9 PM and Saturday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM from where the funeral service was held on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Bishop Len Whitten officiating, interment followed at Anglican Cemetery, Church Street Pasadena. It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Arthur Pittman announce his passing on Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at the Western Memorial Hospital in his 96th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, sons Laudrick (Mildred), Harold (Wanda), Melvin (Margaret) and Roy, daughters Louise (Bruce) Hutchings, Bonnie (Eugene) Anstey and Shirley. 11 grandchildren,17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Sister Frances King, brother Walter, sister-in-law Margaret Manuel. Also a large circle of relatives, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Beulah, sisters Elizabeth and Mildred, brothers John, Cambell, Norman, William and Hector. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters: Alice, Sylvia (Walter), Hilda, and Jacqueline; sons: Joseph, Harold (Louise), and Eugene (Lesley); sisters: Eileen Compagnion and Minie Peddle; brother William Park (Doris); sister in law Mary Evoy; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn with loving memories his wife Brenda nee Hynes, his daughter Elaine (Leon) Benoit in Kippens, his sons; Brian (Jane Ann) in Kippens, Darren (Bernadette) and Randy both in Stephenville and Dean (Rita) in St. John's. Also missing their Grand-dad are Grandsons; Bradley, Andrew, Justin, Ryan, Shane, Kyle and Evan, Grand-daughters; Karla, (Trevor Cadeau), Amy (Brandon Alexander), Stacey and Rebecca, Great Grandchildren Parker, Annabelle, Avery and Henry. Donald is also survived by his sisters Gladys (Cliff Laing), Elsie Burry and May Gillam, brothers Eddy (Doris) and Ivan, sisters-in-law Olive Shears and Patsy (Jim) Bard, brother-in-law Cecil Hunt, special niece Lorna Carter along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 48 years Frank Seaward, Irishtown; son Stewart Seaward (Lawrence Taylor), Rome, Italy; sisters: Sharon Payne (Valzie McLean), Gillams and Katrina (Brian) Basha, Curling; nieces: Nadine and Olivia Basha; as well as a large circle of sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents Stewart and Reda Payne and baby sister Inez Payne. Cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium. Sylvester will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Joanne Tobin (Derek), Lisa Long (Doug), Glenn (Reneé); grandchildren: Julia, Krista, Kate and Jacob; step-grandchildren: Bob, Steven, Michael, Patrick and Blake; step- great-grandchild: Matthew; sister Helen Haché; sisters-in-law: Betty (Eddie), Ellen, Sophie (Joe), Linda (Marcus), Nada (Steve); brothers-in-law: Steve (June), Ed, Max (Linda), Albert (Marg), Wayne, Randy (Mary); as well as a large number of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Louise, brother Gordon and parents John and Julia. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. URBANIA, Edna Flynn
Born: May 11th, 1944
Passed on: August 27th, 2013

A memorial service will be held for Edna at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Thursday, August 14th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. This will be followed by a funeral Mass Friday morning, August 15th at 10:00 am followed by the burial of her ashes. Edna left Newfoundland in 1965 shortly after she married an American Air Force airman, Ken Urbania, and lived for the rest of her life in Cleveland, Ohio. Ken and Edna raised four boys, Dennis, Danny, Ken Jr., and Michael. These four boys are now all in their forties and still residing in the Cleveland area. Edna, who had many siblings, was the daughter of Michael Flynn and Margaret (née Gallant). Edna had many relatives in the Lourdes/ West Bay/ Bay St. George areas.
She will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts.

WEBSTER-BOLAND, Millie Thelma
Born: December 2nd, 1965

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Millie Webster/Boland announce her passing at the Health Science Complex, St Johns on Friday August 15, 2014 at the age of 48 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 10 years, Ted; 4 fury animal friends: Charlie, Tyson, Jake and Cocoa; Siblings: Mimie Webster, Albert Webster (Cecicle), Terry Webster (Sue), Bert Webster, Karen McCarthy (Gord), Betty "Betty Boop" Webster and John Webster; mother in law, Lillian Boland; brothers and sisters in law: Bernice, Jim, Judy (Terry), Tom and Joy (Brian); nieces: Tara, Angela (Ryder Cash), Jennifer, Stephanie, Mary, Genie, Tammy, Sherry, Joanie, Judy, April and Ingrid; nephews: Steven, Johnny, Johnny, Jimmy and Johnny, 2 special friends Kimmie Lidstone and Lana Greene, also a large circle of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Doris Webster.
