Passed away Tuesday, June 29th, 1999, at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, Alfreda Elizabeth Crocker at the age of 79. She will be sadly missed by her children: Jessie and wife Theresa, Charles and wife Valerie, Lillian and husband Lindy, Cecilia, Audrey and husband Blair, Madeline and husband Willis; grandchildren: Bernetta, Darren, Rosemary, Dwayne, Neil, Wanda, Dwayne (there are 2 Dwayne's listed in the paper), Rendell, Laura, David, Lindy, Lori, LeeAnn, Eugene, Clarise, Alice, Steadman; twenty-six great grandchildren; sisters: Classie Crocker (Bramwell), Ivy Parsons (Harvey); brothers: Powless Butler, George Butler (Jeanette). Left to mourn are numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Steadman; grandson, Kelly; sisters: Bridie and Goldie Crocker; brothers: Ben and Garfield Butler. The funeral service will be held Friday, July 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Church, Trout River, Rev. Cutler officiating. The interment will follow at the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Deer Lake.

PERRY, Audrey Josephine (nee West)

Passed peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Claire's Mercy Hospital, St. John's in the loving care of her family, Audrey Josephine Perry, in her 76th year. Leaving to mourn her husband Gilbert of 54 years; four daughters: Sandra, St. John's, Ruth (Stanley Baker), Labrador City, Renee (Tom Sheppard), King City, ON, Sharon (Lou Cox), Houston, BC; one son Glenn Perry (Brenda), Labrador City; eight loving grandchildren: Rob Cooper, Sean & Wendy Stentaford, Chris Sheppard (Ellen), Kim (Shawn Murray), Paul & Lisa Baker, Michele Perry; one great granddaughter Jacqueline; two sisters: Lucy Cuff, Stephenville, Mary (Calvin Whalen), Clarkes Beach; one brother Joseph West (Beatrice), Gander; brother-in-law Cecil Perry (Evie), Grand Falls-Windsor; sisters-in-law: Prudence (Eli Menchenton), Norris Arm, Gertie Perry, Botwood, and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 3rd at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's United Church, Deer Lake followed by the interment at the High St. Cemetery. It is with sadness and regret that the family of the late Mr. Eli Payne announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 30th, 1999, at the age of 78 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family: daughter, Sandra Kennedy (Kevin) residing at Gillams; sons: Harold (Lisa) residing at Newmarket, Ontario, Jerome (Denise) and Alex (Marie) all residing at Cox's Cove and Landon (Blanche) residing at McIvers. Grandchildren: Stacy, Tracy, Stephen, Katherine, Kelly, Kayla, Ryan, Clifford, and Robert. Great grandson, Jacob. A special young lady, Debbie Park, residing at Gillams. Sister, Hannah Clarke (Eugene) residing at Cox's Cove. He will be also missed by a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his wife, Catherine (nee House); parents, Samuel and Dinah; and his brothers: William, Joseph, John, and Samuel. Visitation is being held at St. Nicholas Anglican Church in Cox's Cove from where the funeral service will take place on Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Lockyear officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Chesley Barnes announce his passing on Thursday, July 1st, 1999 at the Bonne Bay Health Care Center in his 81st year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Miriam, one son; Bernie (Mona) of Rocky Harbour, three daughters: Maisie (Mrs. George Harris) of Trout River, Madonna (Mrs. Henry Decker) of Rocky Harbour and Elsie (Mrs. Elwin Park) of Cox's Cove, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, one sister; Valsie (Mrs. Noble Parsons); three brothers: Clarence (Maxine), Wesley all of Trout River and John of Cox's Cove. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. Visitation will take place from the Salvation Army Church in Trout River today, Saturday, where also funeral services will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the family plot. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Leonard L. Ringler announce his passing at his residence in O'Regan's on July 1st, 1999 in his 78th year. He leaves to mourn his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Mary (nee Ryan) Ringler; four brothers-in-law: William, Raymond, Alex and Walter Ryan; one sister-in-law, Jenny (nee Ryan) Mercer; also a circle of relatives and friends. The family will be receiving friends at the Ringler residence Friday at 7 p.m. from where a private family service will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Father Desmond McGrath officiating. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Violet (nee Snow), one son; Wayne & wife Gloria of Port Saunders. Two daughters, Rona (Mrs. Peter Hewlin) of St. Anthony and Cavell (Mrs. Randy Gould) of Port aux Choix, 4 grandchildren, Ian & Andrea Gould, and Laurie & Kayla Hewlin, one sister Stella (Mrs. John Caines) of Port Saunders, his brother-in-law Ronald Batten of Corner Brook, one step-son Paul Aylward & wife Natalie of British Columbia, three step-daughters Audrey (Mrs. Marvin Lambe) of Ontario, Mrs. Rose McLean and Gloria (Mrs. Allen Manuel) both of Cambellton, also a large circle of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Martha (nee Pynn) on June 10th, 1984. Visitation took place from his family residence in Port Saunders on Saturday, July 3rd, 1999. Funeral services took place on Sunday, July 4th, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Rumbolt officiating. Interment followed at the family plot in Sandy Cove. He will be sadly missed by his loving family; his dear daughter, Maisie and her husband Howard Dawson residing at Scarborough, ON; brother, George Johnson residing at London, England; sister, Irene and husband Joe Waldron residing at Deer Lake; sisters-in-law, Frances Tavener, Mary Tavener, Alice Tavener and Gwendolyn Butt all of Corner Brook and also by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Constance in 1988. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Edith Greening announce her peaceful passing at her residence on Friday, July 2nd, 1999 in her 87th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter; Helen Martin and husband Maben, Corner Brook, three sons: Nelson and his wife Jenny, Corner Brook, Robert and his wife Eileen, Irishtown, and Tony, Irishtown, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, sister-in-law: Edith McCarthy, Stephenville Crossing, brother-in-law; Leonard Harris, Bay St. George Senior Citizens Home, special niece, Terri Dunne, Corner Brook, also other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Thomas Greening in 1988, and son Norman Greening. SPENCER, John Gillam
Corner Brook, NF

The death of John Gillam Spencer of 6 Bayview Hgts., Corner Brook, NF., occurred July 4th, 1999 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital. He was born at Channel, Port aux Basques, July 4th, 1914, son of the late Charlotte (Hardy) and Stephen Spencer of Channel, Port aux Basques, (formerly from Cul-de-Sac and Cape La Hune). John was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary (May 26th, 1997). He is survived by his three sons: The Venerable John Spencer, Archdeacon of Huron and Perth, Stratford, Ontario, his wife Ruth (Parsons); grandchildren: Pamela, Lesley and her husband Daniel Cooper. His only great-grandchild Andrew John Cooper; son, Brian and Pam of Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and three grandchildren; Heidi, Kent and Kert; son, Barry of Saint-Louis-De-Kent, New Brunswick, his wife Marguerite/Margot (Valotaire); grandchildren: Caroline, Isabelle and Christine. He is predeceased by sisters: Julia (Battiste), Florence (Hillier), Lenora (Walters), Ester (Kettle), Susie (Coffin) and brothers, Steve, Jim and Richard. He is also survived by many special nieces and nephews. John was a resident of Corner Brook for the past 52 years. Before moving to Corner Brook he was a member of the merchant Navy from 1938-1948 and served on the following Merchant Navy Ships during the 2nd World War, SS Humber Arm (1938-1940), RMS Nerissa (1940-1941), SS Curacao (1941), SS Waterton (1941-1942), MV Preventor (1942-1944), SS Sandland (1944-1948). After being torpedoed three times he came ashore in 1948 and became employed as a manager of the Westmount Club where he worked for 35 years. John was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 and The Cabot Masonic Lodge 13, Port aux Basques and the Corner Brook Men's Service Club. Friends are invited to visit Wellington Funeral Home, 31 Wellington Street, Wednesday, July 7th during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral on Main Street, Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Very Rev. Lorne Gosse officiating. The interment will take place at the Anglican Section of Mount Patricia Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Mary Spencer Gift Shop at the O'Connell Centre, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cathedral restoration fund, to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or to the charity of one's choice.

Passed away in Nanaimo BC, May 31st. Muriel Arman, age 76 years. Predeceased by her husband Leo; her parents Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Oldford; one grandson Michael. Leaving to mourn: two daughters: Valerie and Sherry; three sisters: Thelma (Woodrow) Roberts, Connie (Arch) Brewer, Corner Brook, Enid (Ian) Erskine, Ontario; two brothers: Don (Olive), Pasadena, Heber (Hazel), Ontario and numerous friends and relatives.

Passed peacefully away at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 6th, 1999, Garfield Stuckless at the age of 84 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family: his wife of 52 years, Marion (nee Jefferies); daughters: Cindy and Dean Denomme of Brampton, Ont., Joan and Scott McDougall of Ottawa, Judy and Bob Stevenson of Sudbury, Ont., and Beverly and Dean Scott of Corner Brook; son, Rick and Kim Stuckless of Fredericton, NB; sister, Armine Sturge of Sarnia, Ont.; twin brother, Joseph and Gertrude of Kitchener, Ont.; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild; in-laws: Earl and Mary Ann Jefferies of Deer Lake, Grace Serrick of St. John's, Joan O'Hara of Toronto, Merle and Don Osbourne of Quebec, and Ross and Louise Jefferies of Ontario. He will be also missed by a large circle of other relatives and friends. Mr. Stuckless was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Lenora; and by brothers: Robert and Archibald. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Willard Ross Denney announce his passing on Tuesday, July 6th, 1999 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 70th year. He will be sadly missed by his children: Sheila Felker and friend Bill of Edmonton, Beverly (Mrs. Mervin Pilgrim), Donald and wife Joan, both of Hampden, Karen (Mrs. Dan Brake) of Fort McMurray, Christine Denney and friend Jerry of Ontario, and Ricky and wife Jackie of Fort McMurray. Nine grandchildren; his sister, Carrie (Mrs. Job Gale), his stepsisters: Sylvia (Mrs. Leander Osmond), both of Hampden, and Whilmenia (Mrs. Dwayne Eddy) of Ontario. His brother Leamond and wife Cora, stepbrothers: Boyce Osmond and Clyde and wife Gay, all of Ontario. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean, in 1985. Willard Ross Denney was a member of the Loyal Orange Association and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3, Deer Lake. She leaves to mourn her loving family: Samuel (Veronica) of Badger, Gordon (Anne) of St. Andrew's, George (Sheila) of Millville, Ethel (Michael Chaisson) of Searston, Anna (Tom Lewis) of St. Andrew's; sister, Susan (John Lowther) of Nova Scotia, also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Elizabeth (Knowling) Hibbs; brothers: William (1999), Kenneth and Reginald; one sister, Lucy. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold O'Neill announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing on Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at the age of 75 years. He will be sadly missed by five nieces, five nephews, and three special friends: Derek Gale in Vancouver, Phil Hynes in Stephenville, and Diane Gabriel (Social Worker at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing) and a large circle of friends in the Stephenville and Vancouver areas. Funeral services took place on Thursday, July 8th from St. Stephen's Parish on West Street in Stephenville. Burial took place at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Badger. As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of one's choice would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements were under the supervision of Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street in Stephenville.

He will be sadly missed by his sister, Mary Kennedy of Corner Brook; three stepbrothers: Johnny McLean of Port au Port, Bernard McLean of Labrador, Alex McLean of Stephenville; two stepsisters: Dorothy Doucette of Kippens, Ann Hynes of Kippens, and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Bill Penney; his mother, Josephine Sarah McLean; brother, Phonse Penney; sister, Loretta Penney; stepsister, Lorana Gallant; stepbrothers: Michael and Howard McLean. The family will be receiving friends on Friday from Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church, Port au Port West, followed by the funeral service on Saturday, July 10th at 1:00 p.m., Father Gerard Patry officiating. Weighing in at 7lbs. 11 oz. and 56 cm. long, Michael made his debut at the CWJM Hospital, Labrador City on June 11, 1999. My proud mommy and daddy are Doreen and Darrel. We'd like to say thank you to Nanny and Poppy Lovell for being here for this happy occasion. We'd also like to thank everyone for their help and support during Mommy's delivery, especially Dr. Webster.

She will also be sadly missed by other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred, son Llewellyn, son-in-law Clary Moss and great grandchild Erika. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Tobias Canning announce his passing on Thursday, July 22nd, 1999 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 78th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife Mary; his children: Carl Pilgrim (Murial), Earle Pilgrim (Beatrice), Grace (Mrs. Reg Brophy) all of Roddickton, Junior Canning (Eileen), Iris (Mrs. George Fillier) and Ramona (Mrs. Ivan Manuel), all of Labrador City; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; his step-sons and step-daughters; his three brothers: Garland (Naomi) of Pasadena, Alfred (Mabel) of Roddickton and Rene (Marjorie) of Deer Lake. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife Winnifred in 1990, granddaughter Karen in 1983, sister Myrtle Weir and brother Herbert. Visitation will take place in Roddickton today, Saturday. Funeral services will take place on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Apostolic Faith Church in Roddickton, with interment to follow at the family plot. James was predeceased by his son Terry in 1987. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 29th at 10:30 a.m. from the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mt. She will be sadly missed by thirteen sons: Vincent (Geraldine), Gerard (Helen) and Jack, all in Port au Port, Kevin (Marion) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Louis (Marie), Matthew (Linda) and Henry (Mag), all in Sudbury, Ontario, Fred (June) in Ottawa, Conrad (Hazel), Brendan (Chris) and Allan (Cathy), all in Flin Flon, Manitoba, Michael (Phyllis) in Thompson, Manitoba, Neil (Barb) in Norris Point; and one daughter, Helen (Felix) Brennan in Stephenville; and five brothers: Ronald Hynes, Billy Joe Hynes, Alphonsus Hynes and Raymond Hynes, all in Port au Port and Bernard Hynes in New Brunswick and 54 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Hynes and two sons, Lawrence and Mark Hynes. Friends may call at the Maria Regina Parish in Port au Port East on Wednesday.
