It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mabel Dorothy Pittman announce her passing on Friday, June 27th, 2003 at the Bonne Bay Hospital in her 87th year. She will be sadly missed by her children: Annie (Benjamin) Parsons, Priscilla (Lawrence) Lock, her step-daughter Eva Payne, Gerald (Holly) Pittman, Hubert Pittman, Norman (Freda) Pittman, John Pittman; 11 grandchildren: Paul Parsons, Jennifer Parsons, Wayne Pittman, Lorilynn Gagnon, Junior Lock, Tena Lock, Brian Payne, Blair Payne, Bonita (Gerard Costello), Sean Fraser and Scott Fraser; two great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Gagnon and Katherine Gagnon; her brother Steadman Goosney of Bonne Bay; four sisters-in-law: Alice Pittman of Bellburns, Madeline Goosney of Deer Lake, Florence Goosney and Pansy Goosney both of Bonne Bay. Also her special friend Hilda Buffett of Norris Point. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents William and Mabel, husband William, brothers William, Wallace, Norman, Joseph, sister Hazel, brothers-in-law Fred, Thomas, Henry, Hubert and sisters-in-law Maud, Elizabeth and Ada. Visitation took place from St. Aidens Church in Bellburns on Sunday where also funeral service took place on Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Pratt officiating. Interment followed at the family plot. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to St. Aidens Church Memorial Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Anthony (Teenie) Downey announce his passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre, Stephenville Crossing on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the age of 87 years. He will be sadly missed by his four sons: Andy Downey of Stephenville Crossing, David Downey and Clyde (Tina) Downey, all of Toronto, Scott (Cathy) Downey of St. John's and four daughters: Mary Pimpao of Calgary, Margaret Lewis of Toronto, Marie Laney of Brampton, Theresa Power of Toronto and four brothers: Barney (Carmel) Downey of Stephenville, Bill Downey of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Terry (Marina) Downey of Stephenville Crossing, Mickey (Marg) Downey of St. George's and three sisters: Veronica (John) Harvey of Brampton, Liz Payne of Stephenville Crossing, Jane Korn of Indiana and eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. O'Connell Centre, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at the age of 82 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Michael and four sons: Bill (Greta) Doucette of Stephenville, Jerry (Norma) Doucette of Port au Port, Brian (Veronica) Doucette of Port au Port, Randy (Rose) Doucette of Saskatchewan; two daughters: Stella (Edward) Felix of Port au Port, Lisa (Wayne) Penney of Port au Port and one sister, Jessie March of Port au Port; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Donald (Loretta) Doucette. Corner Brook artist Allan Gillard and Mariel Anne Toms were married on May 10, 2003, in Victoria, BC. They exchanged wedding vows they composed for each other at the romantic Victorian heritage house, the Amethyst Inn. They honeymooned on Vancouver Island and have planned a trip back to Corner Brook this fall to visit their families. Mr. and Mrs. Gillard now live in Vancouver, BC. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Max Kennedy announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the age of 70. He will be sadly missed by his brother Joseph of Marystown and several other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents James & Nellie Kennedy and several brothers and sisters. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Angie Lorraine Burton announce her passing on Friday, July 4th, 2003 in her 17th year. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ella Rees announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Wolfville Nursing Home, NS in her 87th year. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her son Jay and wife Lori (Dawe) of Centerville, NS, son Don and wife Karen (Doody) of Saint John, NB, grandsons: Jason (wife Melissa), Matthew and Timothy, sisters: Isabelle and Margaret and brother Bill. She was predeceased by her parents William and Elsie Taylor and her husband Henry James. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will take place at All Saints Anglican Church in Stephenville Crossing at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10th, 2003 after which she will be laid to rest at the family plot in the Anglican Cemetery. Passed peacefully away on July 7th, 2003 at the Calder Health Centre, Burgeo after a courageous battle with cancer, Derrick Anderson in his 38th year. Passed away on Tuesday, July 8th, 2003 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Marie McCarthy, at the age of 64 years. She leaves to mourn her children: Charles David McCarthy (Lori), Duncannon, Penn., USA; Brian Kevin McCarthy (Jane), Mississauga, ON; Gregory Robert McCarthy (Susan), Toronto, ON; Darren George McCarthy, Corner Brook; grandson Matthew McCarthy; granddaughter Emma McCarthy; sisters: Bertha Hillier, Ottawa, ON; Marion Flynn (Cyril), Courtney, BC; Edith Mayo (Jim), Marystown, NL and a number of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jeremiah McCarthy (April 1997), brother Robert Fudge and parents Charles Dawe Fudge and Phoebe Fudge. Passed peacefully away in her 87th year May Humber, cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was predeceased by her husband Alva and daughter Pauline. Twenty eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers Gordon Ricks of Pollard's Point and Simon Ricks of Nova Scotia. The cremains of Mike Boland will be laid to rest at Mt. Cecilia Cemetery, Curling on Monday, July 14th following a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30 A.M. The family will host a reception at the school cafeteria following the burial. Mike is the son of Leo Patrick Boland and Anita (Hynes) Boland. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Harold. He is survived by his son Rick, daughter Bobbie Anne (Bill Duggan), Torbay; daughter Patricia (Jeff Baker), Toronto; son Gerry, New Market, son Leo, St. John's, son Tony, St. John's, daughter Shelly (Steve Power), Churchill Falls, daughter Mia, St. John's and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His oldest sister Mary (Clem Lindsey) of West Palm Beach, Florida and his youngest brother Fred, of Kingston, Ontario, will be attending the Funeral Mass and burial. His sisters Bride (Vancouver), Helen and Mona (Cornwall) regret that they are unable to attend the service. passed away suddenly at his home in Ucluelet, B.C. at the age of 75 years. Conrad is survived by his loving wife Laura, and daughter Joyce Roberts (Bob); grandchildren: Tammy, Rebecca, Bobbi-Jo, Tara, and Sherry-Anna; as well as great grandchildren: Seth and Yvonne. He is also survived by his sisters: Jeannine, Carrol, Donna, Juanita, and Lorna. Conrad lived in Newfoundland for 30 years and was well known throughout the community through his work in the auto industry as well as a minister for the Jehovah's Witnesses Congregation until moving to Ucluelet, B.C. to be closer to family. A devoted teacher, wife and mother; Mary Grant passed away on July 26, 2003 at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander. Mary was a warm and loving person, committed to improving the lives of others by her own selfless actions. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 30, 2003 at St. Gabriel's Church in St. Brendan's, Bonavista Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the local chapter of the SPCA.
