that the family of the late Cedella Genevieve Hackett (nee Crocker) announce
her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday,
June 30, 2000 at age of 68 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Leaving
to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Benedict; 10 children:

The family received friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street
on Saturday and Sunday. The funeral service will be held today, Monday,
July 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church,
Benoit's Cove. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. As expressions
of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to
the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation - Chemotherapy Unit
or to Our Lady Star of the Sea Memorial Fund.

It is with great sadness that the family
of the late Stella Park announce her passing at the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital on Sunday, July 2nd, 2000 at the age of 68 years. Leaving
to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children: Ida (husband
Rex), Nona, Brada (husband Woodrow), Madonna (husband Dean), Anita (husband
Stewart), Alex (wife Diane), Christine (husband Randy), Lynn (husband
Gilbert) and Dion (wife Lana). 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Her mother Dulcie and sister Elvie, as well as a large circle of nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband
John Richard Park, and her father William Park. Visitation will take
place from The Anglican Church, McIver's beginning on Monday afternoon
from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 5th at
11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Randy Lockyer. Interment to follow at
the Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers will graciously
be accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

family of the late Hazel May Hiscock (nee Laite) announce her passing
at the Interfaith Home for Seniors on Friday, June 30th, 2000 at the
age of 90. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons
Gerald (Gerry), Grant (Eileen), Corner Brook, Karl (Frances), Bible Hill,
NS, and Ralph, Enfield, NS; daughters: Phyllis (Max Musseau), Corner
Brook, Beverly (Gordon Cartwright), Salt Spring Island, BC, and Debbie
(Randy Stratton), Athens, ON; 32 grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren,
and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased
by her husband James Hiscock, June 2nd, 1972, and by all brothers and
sisters. The family received friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4
St. Marks Avenue on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 p.m., and on Saturday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service was held on Sunday, July 2nd,
at 2:00 p.m. from The First United Church, Park Street, Rev. John Adams
officiating. Interment followed at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions

It is with great sadness that the family
of the late Vera Lorina Layden announce her passing on Sunday,
July 2nd, 2000 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 78th year. She
will be sadly missed by her daughters Mary (Bill) Hiscock of Fort McMurray,
Kay Balsom of Cormack, Lillian (Gordon) Oliver of Ontario, Edith (Jack)
Baker, Vera (Ronald) Payne, all of Cormack, Rose (Gary) Oliver of Ontario
and Betty (Cliff) Oliver of Deer Lake; her sons Cyril, Herbert, Arthur
(Shirley), Richard, Basil, all of Cormack and Fred (Michaela) of Bonne
Bay. Thirty two grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Two sisters:
Mrs. Edith Hood and Mrs. Dorothy Drew, both of England. Also a large
circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband
Arthur Sheppard and her second husband Wallace Layden. Mrs. Vera Layden
was a very active and dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies
Auxiliary Branch #3, Deer Lake for 25 years. She also was involved in
the ACW, and the Seniors Club in Cormack, whom will all miss her smile.
Visitation will take place from St. George's Anglican Church today, Tuesday
and Wednesday, where also Funeral Services will take place on Thursday
at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Daley officiating. Interment to follow at the
family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home,
63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

She moved to Dartmouth in 1941. She was a long-time and active member
of Christ Church. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Percy
Delouche), Georgetown, ON; son Chester (wife Joyce), Dartmouth; brother,
Roy of Stephenville Crossing. Grandchildren: Michael, Ontario, Steven,

was held Wednesday, May 3 at Westminister Bible Presbyterian Church,
Sydney, NS. The service was conducted by Rev. James Murchison and Rev.
Larry Veinott, son-in-law, preached a sermon of hope and comfort. Good
friend, Mr. Chesley Winsor read words of scripture from 1st Thessalonians
4:12-18. Mr. Donald MacCormack provided accompaniment for hymns, The
Lord is My Shepherd from psalm 23, and Forever with the Lord. Alan MacGibbon,
son, offered remarks on behalf of the family. Pallbearers at the committal
service at Hardwood Hill Cemetery were Frank Ferguson, Henry Johnston,

Passed away Tuesday,
July 25, 2000 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Ernest
D. Bennett at the age of 71. He will be sadly missed by his brother Cyril Bennett,
special friend Pat Kearney and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Frances, and two brothers,
Tom and Joseph. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27th,
at 10:30 a.m. from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Curling Street,
Father John Peddle officiating. The interment will follow at Mount Patricia
Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street,
Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers or

EDWARD PERRY at
the age of 78. He will be sadly missed by his four children: Edward (Elizabeth),
Raymond (Charlotte), Alphonsus (Jacqueline), Marina (Al Rideout); 12
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and
friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth in 1993, daughter Clara,
son Max. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29th at 10:30
a.m. from The Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Curling Street, Father

the family of the late Russell Payne announce his passing on Tuesday,
July 25, 2000 at the J. I. O'Connell Centre at the age of 73 years. He
leaves to mourn five sons: Randy (Mary), Mount Pearl; Donald (Donna),
Port aux Basques; Shawn (Patti), Calgary, AB; Michael (Paula) and Jamie
(Susan), Halifax; three daughters: Anne Morris (Ron), Aurora, ON; Debbie
Crocker (Ed), Dartmouth, NS; Michele Matthews (Dave), Corner Brook; two
brothers: Rod Payne (Linda), Oshawa, ON; Courtney Payne, Windsor, ON;
eight grandchildren, and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends. He was predeceased by his son Blaine, 1995; father Vigal
1971; mother Mary, 1981, and his sister Jacqueline, 1999. The Funeral
Service will take place from St. Mary's Anglican Church in Curling on
Saturday, July 29th at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Edward King officiating,
followed by interment at the church cemetery, Curling Street. The family
will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, Friday 2-4 and

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday,
July 26, 2000 Mary Bernadine Rankin at the age of 79 years. Leaving to
mourn her son, Captain Anthony Lynch, grandson Christopher, both of New
Brunswick; granddaughter Amy, St. John's; special friends - the Halbot
family, and a number of other relatives and friends. The family will
be receiving friends from the Roman Catholic Church of St. Columcille,
St. Fintan's, Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral services
will be held on Saturday, July 29th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Aidan Devine
officiating. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Highlands.

WEBB & GAUDETT
St. Augustine's Anglican Church was the scene of
a very beautiful wedding on May 20, 2000. The marriage united Janice
Marie Webb and Patrick Michael Scott Gaudett. Janice is the daughter
of Claude and Evelyn Webb of Pasadena. Scott is the son of the late Aloysius
and Annie Gaudett of Kippens. The bride was given away by both parents.
Sandra Billiard, close friend of the Bride was the Maid of Honor while
Ken Gaudett, brother of the Groom was the Best Man. Both Rev. Laldin
and Msgr. White officiated. Dhoon Lodge hosted the reception of Hor d'oeuvres
and dancing. Janice and Scott went on a honeymoon to Nova Scotia. They
would like to thank everyone who helped make this day as special as it
was.

BARRY
IN LOVING MEMORY OF AUGUSTINE LUKE BARRY
A Memorial Mass will
be celebrated for the late Augustine Luke Barry, August 3, at 10 a.m.
at Sacred Heart Church, Curling. Gus was born June 8, 1917 at Summerside,
Bay of Islands, NF and died September 17, 1998 at Montreal, Quebec. According
to his wishes, his ashes will be interred at Mt. Cecelia Cemetery, Curling
in the family plot. Son of Edward and Anna (Chafe) Barry (both deceased),
Gus spent a happy childhood with his brothers: John (deceased), Kevin,
Edward (deceased), and David and his sisters Mary (deceased), Isabel
and Emma and received his early education at Holy Cross School, Curling.
Gus attended St. F. X., Antigonish, Nova Scotia and McGill, Montreal,
Quebec graduating in Chemical Engineering. After serving with Defense
Industries Ltd. during WW2, he returned to Curling for two years and
worked with his father at Barry Fisheries plants at Lark Harbour and
Cox's Cove during the period of the UNRRA Pack. He then joined Dupont
of Canada Ltd. as a Chemical Engineer. He held managerial positions at
Shawinnagin, Quebec and Whitby, Ontario and the company head office in
Montreal, Quebec. Gus is survived by his wife Marguerita Bagnall whom
he married in 1948, his children Richard (Maria) and Martha, his grandchildren
Sean and Marina.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mark Willis
Cassell announce his passing on Saturday, July 29th,
2000 at the O'Connell Centre
in his 91st year. He will be sadly missed by his son Alvin (Ivy) of Deer
Lake; his daughters: Joyce (Malcolm) Hounsell of Pasadena, Shirley (Hedley)
Eveleigh of Seal Cove and Daphine (Arthur) Osmond of Jackson's Arm, 15
grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; two
sisters Alma (Edgar) Jones and Edna Jones both of Jackson's Arm, also
a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first
wife Alice in February, 1935 and his second wife Blanche in Nov. 1998,
son Willis, grandson Hiram and great granddaughter, six brothers and
two sisters. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Jackson's
Arm today, Monday where also funeral services will take place on Tuesday
at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Woodman officiating. Interment to follow at the
family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home,
63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

be sadly missed by one son Bernard Bishop in Toronto, Ontario; two daughters:
Rosemary Bishop and Cathy (Leo) Toots, all of Toronto, Ontario; special
nephew, Stephen (Barbara) Kelly of Fort McMurray, Alberta; one brother,
John Lee of Port au Port West; three grandchildren: Kelsey, Caitlin and
Liam Toots and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased
by her husband, Bernard Bishop in 1989. Her remains were forwarded to

Pennsylvania, United States; one brother, Millage (Neola) Simon of DeGrau;

Alavine Tourout of Brampton, Ontario; 46 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren,

She was predeceased by her husband, John B. Rouzes. Visitation took place
at Our Lady of The Cape Parish, Cape St. George on Sunday. Funeral services
will take place on Monday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the
Cape Parish in Cape St. George with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery
