It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alan Duffy announce his passing at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, ON on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at the age of 61 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Hilda and his daughters: Maureen (Jeff) and Stephanie (Brian) of Toronto. Also leaving to mourn six brothers: Tom (Stella), Roderick (Lorraine), Dominic (Joan), Jack (Loretta), Rick (Marilyn), Paul (Linda) and eight sisters: Loretta (Percy) Benoit, Jeanette (John) Ornce, Stephenie Muller, Christine (Jack) Pruitte, Elaine (Wayne) White, Linda (Bill) Alexander, Paulette (Gary) Wilcott, Joanne (Wayne) Howlett and 44 nieces and nephews. Also sadly missed by the Hynes Family, a large circle of friends and relatives and close family friend, Kenny Hynes. He was predeceased by his parents, Jean and Rory Duffy, his parents-in-law, Francis and Gloria Hynes, his brother Danny Duffy and his sister Margaret White. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Florence Ann Sullivan announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Lovingly remembered by her husband, Nathan and her children: Sharon (Brendan) of Stephenville, Vicki (Reuben) of St. Bride’s, Marsha of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Cecilia of Brookfield, Nova Scotia, Danny (Agnes) of Codroy Valley and Jimmy (Melissa) of St. George’s, one brother, Peter (Eleanor) Colombe of St. George’s, two sisters: Alice (George) Baker of Shallop Cove, Adeline Butt of St. George’s, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away of heart failure in Brampton, ON, at the age of 62. Leaving to mourn his son and daughter, Shan Omar and Sonya, in Halifax, their mother, Janet Mews, in Corner Brook, three brothers in the States, one sister and three brothers in Pakistan, and a wide circle of loving nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and dear friends, both in North America and Pakistan. The funeral service was held in the ISNA mosque in Mississauga, ON, on April 27, and his earthly remains are laid to rest in Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton. Passed away at the DVA Pavilion, Corner Brook on Tuesday, May 8th, 2007, Gordon Henry Candow in his 87 year. Gordon was a member of the 166th NFLD Royal Artillery Regiment and served 5 years overseas with the British 8th Army Artillery in North Africa and Italy. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Stone); son David (Christine); daughters: Doris (Robert) Toms, Karen (Glen) Carpenter, Ann (David) Kellett, Jill (Glen) Power and Janice (Philip); grandchildren: Andrew and Jonathan, Angela, Gordon and Alexandra, Jennifer, Catherine and David, Sarah and Jacob; brothers: Lloyd, Alan and David; sisters: Bertha George, Phyllis Fair and Dorothy Hansen. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Annie and James, brothers Israel and Sandy. Cremation has taken place. Philip Francis Caul
– 87, of New Minas, Nova Scotia, passed away Monday, May 7, 2007 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on April 17, 1920 in Bar Haven, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Richard and Annie (Brown) Caul. Philip spent the majority of his life in Stephenville, Newfoundland and had been the owner and operator of Caul Agency, distributors of Molson and Pepsi products. He was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus and was involved with the Lions Club of Stephenville, Newfoundland as a life-member. He enjoyed sports of all kinds, including darts, curling, bowling and baseball. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 58 years, the former Rosella Pomeroy; four daughters, Jane (Lionel) Churchill, Labrador City; Maureen (Paul) Abbott, Port au Port, Newfoundland; Charlotte (Paul) Benjamin and Sharon (Marlon) Hatt, both of New Minas; two sons, Philip Caul Jr., Stephenville; Michael (Angela) Caul, New Minas; precious grandchildren, Kelly, Janine, Damien, Tara, Justin and T.J.; step-grandchildren, Melissa, Chyenne and Ashley; adored great granddaughter, Madison; step-great grandson, Jonathan; sister, Nellie; sisters-in-law, Nellie Caul and Elizabeth Byrne; brother-in-law, James (Mary) Pomeroy; a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Gordon was a member of the 166th NFLD Royal Artillery Regiment and served 5 years overseas with the British 8th Army Artillery in North Africa and Italy. Husband of Viola, father of Judy, Glenn (deceased) and Neil, passed away at the Health Science Centre in St. John’s on May 5, 2007 in his 85th year. Dear son of the late Florence & Willis Pinsent of Safe Harbour, Bonavista Bay. Dear brother of Harold (Joan) and Mary (Lewis) Harvey, and predeceased by sister Hallie and brothers Gordon, Edgar, Nathan and Douglas. Scott was a master carpenter who moved his family to Stephenville to start Pinsent Construction Co. Ltd. with his brother Harold and was joined by his brothers Nathan and Cyril. Pinsent Construction was started in 1952 and grew steadily until its closeout in 1987. This construction company did many varied construction projects in many parts of Newfoundland and Labrador, in which Scott played a very important role. Deer Lake Motel Ltd., and the former Pinsent’s Concrete Ltd., were also started by Pinsent Construction Co. Ltd.; both of which were very well accepted by the general public and proved to be very successful companies. For a number of years, along with another partner and a good friend, Scott also operated a seafood and farming enterprise. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and a special thank you to Dr. Qureshi, Claire-Lynn Thibeau, R.N., and Debbie Power, L.P.N., for their care and support. Cremation has taken place. There will be no service, at Scott’s request. If desired, donations in Scott’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

, born in Brockton, Massachusetts, U.S.A. on January 26, 1932. Malcolm died peacefully at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia on May 13, 2007 with family at his side, after a brief illness. He is survived by his sister Susan King (Bruce) of Cheshire, Connecticut; five chldren: Brad pratt (Joyce) of Somerset, Mass.; Betsy van Allen (Howard) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; Bob Erving (Debra) of Rothesay, New Brunswick; Patti Erving (Faye) of St. John’s, Newfoundland; Bill Erving (Helen) of Victoria, Brisish columbia; eight grandchldren: Ben, Becky, Karl, Elizabeth, Andrew, Nicole, Nigel, and Amy. Malcolm was educated at Boston University and Plymouth State College. Mal was an officer for the SPCA in Massachusetts. He taught high school at Lake George Central High School in Lake George, New York and junior high school at G.A. Mercer School in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He also taught in Nain and Happy Valley Goose Bay, Labrador. He was a Scotial Studies consultant for the Department of Education in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He was a sales representative for the publishing company Holt, Rhinehart & Winston in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mal was an avid hunter and fisherman and his happiest moments were spent outdoors. He had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed a good joke. His humour remained intact right up to his passing. The fmaily would especially like to acknowledge his dear long-time friend, Herman Brown for his selfless time and guidance during Malcolm’s illness and hospitalization. Herman, your friendship and love have been so appreciated. A very special thanks to Dr. Ambrose Marsh, Barbara MacDonald and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saanich Peninsula hospital. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gertrude Gillam announces her passing on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the age of 84 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Velma Antle of Corner Brook and Donald (Bernice) of Victoria, BC; special grandson, Cory Gillam of Ontario; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; sisters: Elsie Wheeler of Summerside, Mildred Hutchings at the Interfaith Home, Corner Brook and Eileen Wells at the Interfaith Home, Corner Brook; brother-in-law, Frank Wheeler of Summerside; and a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Gillam; son, Nelson Gillam; daughter, Valda Kelly, grandson, George Gillam; parents, Frederick & Evelyn Ruth; brothers: Harold Ruth, Chesley Ruth and Frederick Ruth; and sisters: Georgina Wheeler, Margaree Brake and Ivy Ruth. : Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on May 29, 2007 (Age 51 yrs). Leaving to mourn his loving wife Kathie, two beautiful children Jennifer & Amanda and their mother Anne. His devoted mother and father, Walter & Rowena Frost of Hillview, his ever-faithful sister Pauline (Gary) and his loyal brother Keith (Lana). Left also to mourn are his nieces and nephews Angela & Adam Park and Mackenzie & Hannah Frost along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His parents in law, Gail & Bert Brown and his sister in law Sheri (Nathan). His dedicated Ready Cash employees, along with hundreds of business associates across Canada and the US whose lives he touched in so many ways. Also mourning is Margaret Jarvis, whose friendship brought Barry comfort and his treasured & faithful companion GUS.
