It is with great sadness that the family of the late Doug Alteen announce
his passing on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital at the age of 85 years. Doug was a leader in the business
community and well known and respected as a jeweler for over 60 years. He was
a generous contributor to organizations and charities including: The Lions
Club, Chamber of Commerce, Corner Brook Curling Club, Blomidon Country Club,
Masonic (Lodge Lomond), and most notably, Charter member and Potentate of the
Mazol Temple of the Shrine. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories:
his devoted wife, Shirley (nee Woodman); five children: Robert (Bob) Alteen
(Janice Higgins), Corner Brook, Glenn Alteen, Vancouver, BC, Peter Alteen (Kathy

Alteen Jr. (Brenda), Ottawa, ON; grandfather to Katerina and Elena Dikaios
(Donna), Susan and Clare Alteen (Peter) and Sydney and Renee Alteen (Doug Jr.);

It is with great sadness that the family of William Aloyisius "Bill" Barry announce his sudden passing at his residence in Corner Brook on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at
the age of 68 years. Left to mourn are his children: Michael (Trudy) of Port
Saunders, Keith (Patti) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick and Joanne (Edward) of
Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; grandchildren: Adam, Justin, Jeremy and Kendra,

Passed away on: 17/04/2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clayton Patrick
Benoit announce his passing at his residence in Point Au Mal on Saturday
April 17th, 2010 at the age of 55 years. He leaves to mourn
his loving family: Mother; Felicitaus Benoit of Point Au Mal. His four brothers,
Stephen (Annie) Benoit of Stephenville, Ralph (Bernice) Benoit of Fox Island
River, Peter (Florine) Benoit and John (Sherry) Benoit all of Point au Mal.
His eight sisters, Evelina (Joseph) Leroy, Melinda Hynes, Karen Benoit, Annebel
Benoit all of Point au Mal, Sarah Leroy, of Fox Island River, Delaine (Roger)
Walker of Nova Scotia, Glenda Benoit (Ross Critchley) of Stephenville Crossing,
Patrica (Lou) Kinslow of Barachois Brook. Also leaving to mourn are a large
number of neices, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased bu his
father Duncan Benoit and his brother Terrance Benoit. Funeral services will
take place on Monday April 19th at 2:00 pm from St. Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic
church in Point au Mal with a private family interment at a later date. Funeral
arrangements are under the supervision of Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen
Street in Stephenville.
BRADSHAW, Sonia Jean
Sonia Jean "Tone" Bradshaw, of Halifax in her 65th
year. Passed away on April 9, 2010 in the QEII Health Science
Centre, Palliative Care, VG Site. Born in Corner Brook NL on July 28, 1945,
she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Daisy Howe of Corner Brook NL. Tone
began her nursing career with General Hospital St. John's, NL from where she
graduated, then went on to Corner Brook, Springdale and to Dartmouth General
Hospital, Dartmouth, NS. She had many friends including the lunch bunch at
Dartmouth General. Tone will be missed and remembered by many. Her ability
to care for others and her compassionate acceptance of others are her legacy.
Surviving are her husband, Richard "Dick" Bradshaw,
sons Craig (Anna) Bradshaw, Bedford and David (Robyn) Bradshaw, Dartmouth,
much loved grandchildren, Laura and Aiden, sister, Deborah Howe, Corner Brook,
NL, brother, Irvin (Margaret) Howe, Corner Brook, NL, special niece, Jennifer
Veitch (Craig), brothers and sisters-in-law, Joan LeBouthiller (Lindsay), Jean
Warren (Selwyn), Mary Garland, Don Bradshaw (Gerri) and Linda Marshall (David),
aunts, Millie Goosney, Liza Hiscock and Neta Colbourne. Predeceased by parents-in-law
Richard and Mary Bradshaw, brother-in-law, Norman Bradshaw. Visitation took

Passed away on: 23/04/2010
Ellie passed away peacefully on April 23, 2010 at Wellington
Park Terrace, Guelph, Ontario. She will be greatly missed by Raymond, her husband
of 63 years, son Keith Farndale (Sue), daughter Denise Watson (Jack), grandchildren
Emily and Christopher Watson and her special pup, Molly. Ellie is survived
by her sister, Ada Burry of Newfoundland and brother Fred Tipple of Ontario.
She is predeceased by her parents Cornelia and George Tipple and brothers Tom,
Ray, Herb, Ed and Howard. Ellie was kind and caring to all she met and she
was especially passionate about children, animals and people with challenges.
She enjoyed good desserts, reading, socializing and spending time with her
friends and family. In her younger years she was quite a dancer and always
had a twinkle in her eye. She was known to brighten up a room with her smile!
The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at Wellington Park Terrace

Angela passed away peacefully and with her loving family at her side at home
in Thornbury, Ontario on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 in her
17th year. She was the much loved daughter of Bill and Terri Robbins, and Robert
Felix and Michelle Janes. Angela will be sadly missed and cherished also by
her sister Stephanie. She will be forever remembered as a dear granddaughter
by James (Randy) and Diane Abbott, Janice Robbins, and Robert Felix. Angela
was predeceased by her grandparents John 'Pa' Robbins and Laverne Felix. Angela
was a special niece to her several aunts and uncles and will be lovingly remembered
by her cousins for her great spirit and fantastic smile. Although Angela's
life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by her understood
that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which you
live it.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved
son and brother, Derek, on April 21, 2010 at the Western
Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 60. Leaving to mourn, his mother
and best friend, Mary Follett, brother Jeffrey (Emeline), sisters Ruth Trenholm
(Don) and Janet Bate (Michael), nieces and nephews Heidi Rodgers (John),
Jason (Gisele), Krista Rodgers (Tom), Matthew (Matt Malone), great grandnephew
Elijah, as well his aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins, especially his Aunt
Marj. Two daughters Meredith and Stacey. He will be sadly missed by his loyal
companion Midnight. Predeceased by his father Henry 1984, brother Robert/Bob
1987 and grandparents. Derek was a very unique individual who always had
a kind, witty word and a sparkle in his eyes. Whether he was teaching on
the reservations in Alberta, attending religious socials and political events
with his mother, or frequenting Tim Hortons, he was always true to himself.
Though his creative writings will never be published they will be always
in the hearts and memories of his family. Special thanks to his friend and
minister Rev. Wayne Cole, for his many kind words and support to the family,
especially over the past several weeks, as well as the nursing and medical
staff at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital for the superb care he received.

Brekke (Mark), Colin, Bridget, Erin, Liam, Owen and Isabel, her former spouse,
Robert Mallory, step-siblings Christine Griffin, Theresa Smith, Marjorie Moroney,
Bernard and Gladys Downey and dear aunt Loretta Rogers. Allison graduated from
St. Clare's Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in St. John's and studied thoracic
nursing at the Aberhart Memorial (Tuberculosis) Hospital in Alberta, returning
to participate in the defeat of the scourge of TB in her home Province. As
a Registered Nurse, she worked in both Canada and the U.S. as a dedicated professional,
including the timber industry as an Industrial Nurse, Safety Officer and Senior
Administrator at a time when women in the field were rare. Allison came to
Redding in 1960 and remained in California for the rest of her life. She was
a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend and will be deeply
missed. Allison has been cremated at her request and will be inurned with her
mother and sister at Mt. Patricia Cemetery in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, always
her spiritual home. A celebration of her life will be held at the family home
in Redding, and a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Sacred Heart
in Anderson, CA.

M. Ryan announce her passing on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her family residence, at
the age of 81 years. Dorothy's unwavering faith guided her in life. She was
always there to lend a hand and offer herself to those in need and her sense
of humor brought a smile to all those who knew and loved her. She was predeceased
by her husband, William Patrick; daughter in infancy, Elizabeth; grandson,

A former resident of Corner Brook, passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home
in St. John's after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by parents, Commandants
Ronald and Regina Sexton, two sisters: Greta Sexton and Viola Best. Leaving
to cherish his memories are his devoted wife of 57 years, Jean (Hutchings),
daughter Janice (Darrell Harris) of Corner Brook; two sons: Brian of Toronto;
Jeff (Gail) of Mount Pearl; grandchildren: Ryan Harris, Jillian and Kayla Sexton,

her passing after a two year battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family
on Tuesday, April 27th, 2010 at the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital in her 79th year. Bonnie was the youngest and the last remaining
child of Robert and Mary Bartlett of Jacksons Cove, NL. She leaves to mourn
with loving memories her husband Hubert of 58 years. Her two sons Garrie (Deyon)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Hayward Young announce
his passing on Monday, April 26th, 2010 at the
Interfaith Home in his 88th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife,
Phoebe (nee
Watkins); his daughter, Lillian (Don) Rowsell of Deer Lake and his son, Wayne
(Wanda) of Portugal Cove; five grandchildren: Nelson, Jason (Betty), Stephen
(Angie), Lee & Tracy; three great-grandchildren: Tory, Colin and Dylan;
his step-children: Wayne (Linda), Brad (Theresa), Wade (Jackie) and Brenda
(Phil), all of Deer Lake; four step-grandchildren: Jason, Bryan, Scott and
Cody; brothers: Ralph of Deer Lake and Emmanuel of Ontario; three sisters:
Fannie Whalen of Corner Brook, Dorothy (Allen) of Summerford and Pearl (Lloyd)
of Deer Lake; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Madge; parents, Henry and Naomi; brothers:
Wycliff, Garfield and Rex; sister, Ella. Visitation will take place from Parsons

63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake, today, Wednesday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral
service will take place on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Salvation Army Church
in Deer Lake with Major Wayne Pike officiating. Interment to follow at the
family plot on High Street. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons
