CUTLER, Sarah Jane (nee Pieroway)
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, ON on Wednesday, March 29th, 2006, one month before her 84th birthday. Loving mother of Hazel (Paul) McLard, Alvin (Annette) Butler, Brenda (LeRoy) Davis, Jessie (Billy) Barry, Katie (Pat) Green, Karen Cutler, Diane (Gerard) Drake, Debbie (Brendon) Brockerville, Corinne (Larry) Duval, and beloved grandmother to 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Sarah will be missed and fondly remembered by her sister Beulah (Max) Butt in St. George's, NL and Margaret McLean in Montreal and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband Lloyd (1976); sons: Rae (1998) and Wayne (2000) as well as three brothers and four sisters. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 7 West Street, Stephenville Crossing on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. from where the Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April 4th at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Charles O'Regan. PORTER, Marion
Passed peacefully away in Calgary, Alberta on March 31, 2006 at the age of 88 years. Marion was born and grew up in Barr'd Islands, Fogo Island, raised her family in Botwood, spent the last 13 years in St. John's with her daughters and the past seven months in Calgary with her daughter Glenda. Predeceased by parents Charlie and Lucy (Cull) Hancock, husband Bill in 1977 and step-son Neil in 2001, brothers Joe, Ambrose, Arthur and James and sisters Jessie and Julia. Leaving to mourn: daughters Juanita Reid, St. John's, Jean Porter, Mississauga, Glenda (Keith Wellon), Calgary; sons: William, Halifax, Dennis (Bridget), Corner Brook, and Robert (Dianne), Oshawa; special grandson Dennis; grandchildren Terry and Tony, Scott, Carla and Krista, Laura and Mark, Emma and Sarah; step-grandchildren Linda and Billy; great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Meagan, Liam, Aidan and Colin, Nicholas and Mary; step-great-grandchildren Mariah, Monica and Brennan; brother Joe (Ivy) Hancock, Barr'd Islands and sister Emily Penney, Seldom; special niece, Eileen (Art Marsh) and many other extended family members. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley George Herritt announce his passing on Thursday, March 30th, 2006 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 82. He will be sadly missed by his eight children: Mary Cooper, Clara Cochrane (Bob), Phillip Herritt (Violet), Elizabeth Porter, Joan Herritt, Walter Herritt (Debbie), Margaret Marche (Danny), Dianna Clarke (Lloyd); 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sisters Pearl Nurse (Rudell), Grand Bank, Bertha Strickland, St. John's, brother Jake Herritt, Scotland as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine, January 31, 2006, parents Phillip & Clara Herritt, son Bernard (Bob) White, son-in-law Charles Cooper, sisters Elizabeth Stoodley & Gertrude Walters. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lionel George Hatcher announce his passing on Thursday, March 30th, 2006 at the Bonne Bay Hospital in his 67th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Mary, three sons: Oscar (Sheila), Dwayne (Shelley) both of Norris Point, Gerald (Eleanor) of Hawkes Bay, four daughters: Connie of Norris Point, Sherry (Dwight Biggin) of St. John's, Carol (Kerry Janes) and Candis (Neil Pittman) both of Brampton, ten grandchildren: Donny, Vanessa, Jonathan, Jeremy, Stephen, Samantha, Michael, Brian, Sarah and Grant, also his father-in-law Leslie Reid of Norris Point, seven brothers and four sisters: Madeline Laing, Elaine (Willis Major), Joseph, Clayton (Cynthia) all of Norris Point, Evelyn Moore Gough (Hal), Edmund (Freda), William (Beverly), George (Ruth) all of Ontario, Terrance (Mila) of St. Paul's, Gerald (Joan) of Hawkes Bay and Ivy (Terry Walsh) of Rocky Harbour, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. passed peacefully away on Friday, March 31st, 2006 at the Interfaith Home for Seniors in Corner Brook, she was in her 86th year. Ever remembered, ever loved by her children: Terry, Jane, Paul, Jill and their families, brother Stan Cooper, sisters: Peggy Duffy and Theresa Palmer. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, two sisters and five brothers. She will be deeply missed by her six children: Rick, Ginger, Karen, Jonathan, Shelly and Pidge and by her husband Pat McCoy. Also by their partners, spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born in Lally Cove, NL, a daughter of the late William James and Anna Mary (Drake) May. Survived by four sons: Gordon (Barbara) Hutchings of Toronto, ON, George (Barbara) Hutchings and David (Kitty) Hutchings, both of Corner Brook, NL, and Robert Ezekiel of Saint John; four daughters: Marion (Fred) Frigault, Joan Archer and Christina (David) Tivendale, all three of Saint John and Laura Defazio of Hampton, NB; one sister, Betty Herridge of Port-aux-Basques, NL; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and several nieces. Predeceased by her first husband, George Hutchings; second husband, Patrick Ezekiel; son, Allan Hutchings; brothers, Newman and Allan May; and sisters, Marion and Hazel May. Born in Denmark, August 7, 1934 died peacefully at Soldiers Memorial Hospital April 11, 2006 surrounded by his much loved family. He was predeceased by his parents Christian R. and Johanna (Pedersen) Gyldenbjerg. Raised in Bridgetown, Chris graduated from Halifax Trade School (TUNS) and began his civil engineering and municipal administration career in Murdochville, Quebec and later in Corner Brook, NL, Middleton, NS and Annapolis County. Chris was also a successful owner/operator of a trucking/transport business in Quebec and a truck body building business in Middleton, Nova Scotia. Actively involved in his community, Chris was a board member of VON, both provincially (NS & NL) and nationally; a member of the Kinsman, Rotary & Lions clubs at various locations; and served as President for the Order of Good Cheer. Chris was Commanding Officer of the Air Cadet Squadron in Corner Brook, NL and a Beaver Leader in Middleton. Raised at Westgate #7085EC, Corner Brook, NL, Very Worshipful Brother was past District Grand Chaplain of Annapolis-Digby District, Past Master of Evangeline Lodge #94 and a member of Rothsay Lodge #41. When required, he also turned his renowned talent for the "Gift of Gab" to auctioneering for various service and charity organizations. He was a volunteer member of the Annapolis County Planning Advisory Committee, and participated at many local and municipal levels of government. He filled his spare time with gardening and woodworking. Chris' greatest gift was his love for his family, especially his young grandchildren Dane and Kate (McVeigh). Chris is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Lynn (Poole), his adoring daughter Johanna Goldenberg (David McVeigh) and son Kendrick. He is also survived by a sister Nan (Nichols) and brother David. There will be no visiting by request. A Masonic service will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. from the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Predeceased in 1994 by his wife of 52 years, Nancy Jane (Waters). Survived by his sons, Richard Kirkpatrick (Barbara) of LaHave, Nova Scotia and John Waters (Janet) of Peterborough, Ontario; grandchildren Tricia (Simon Brassington), Worcestershire, England; Andrew, Michael and Richard of Peterborough; and great grandson Sam Brassington; sister Barbara Peace of Toronto. Graduate of Upper Canada College and University of Western Ontario (1949 Gold Medalist). Served with the Royal Canadian Navy (R.C.N.V.R.) (1939-1945) retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Joined Bowater Mersey, Liverpool, in 1950; General Manager of Bowater Newfoundland Ltd., Corner Brook, NL (1965-1968); Vice President of Sales and later President & CEO of Bowater North American Corporation, Greenwich, Conn. (1968-1984), and Chairman until his retirement in 1984. During his working career Hugh served on many Corporate Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees. Throughout his life he devoted many hours to chairing and serving on Boards for educational, civic and charitable organizations in Canada and the United States. Funeral service will take place at the Maria Regina Parish, Port au Port East on Tuesday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port au Port East. Passed peacefully away on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at the Health Sciences Center in St. John's, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ann Frances Robinson, age 64 years. Predeceased by her parents Edgar and Gladys Gregory; two brothers: Roy Gregory and Enos Gregory. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Ellis; daughters: Cathy Robinson-Gill (Brent Gill) and Tina & Abdul Robinson-Abdi; sister Violet Mills and her husband Neil; as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and the Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, 2:00 p.m., at the Roman Catholic Church followed by a reception at the Anglican Church in Baie Verte, NL. Reyd was born at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador on January 23, 2006, weighing in at 7 lb 3 oz. Proud grandparents are Harold (predeceased) & Effie Ward and Joseph & Helen Lawrence, Corner Brook and special Auntie, Carla Taylor. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Montesano, Dr. Mali, Cathy Leftbridge (mid-wife), Caroline Crawford (nurse) and the Janeway Transport Team for Reyd's safe delivery and special care that she received during her hospital stay.
