It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis E. Osmond announce his passing on Friday, March 29th, 2002 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 75th year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Minnie (nee Hewitt), one daughter Robyn (Glenn) Brett of Corner Brook, his grandson Brett Morey, his step-children: Alex Brett (Alma), Doug Brett (Dulcy), both of Cormack, Bertha Osmond (Gar) of Hampden, and Maxine Osmond (Wayne) of Alberta; 12 step-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harvey Osmond (Rhuda) and Donald Osmond (Ella),; two sisters: Jane Ropson (Harvey) and Marilyn Pynn (Jim) all of Hampden. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Peter Osmond in 1977 and his mother Rosanna (Gale) in 1996. Visitation will take place today, Monday at the Anglican Church in Hampden where also funeral services will take place on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Woodman officiating. Interment at the family plot. By request of the family, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Anglican Church in Hampden. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Bennett announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook on Thursday, March 28th, 2002 at the age of 64 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Audrey, his son Jason (Rachel) in Cape St. George and his daughter Clara (Howard) Bennett in Ship Cove. He will also be remembered by his brother Earl (Florence) Bennett in Stephenville Crossing, his three sisters: Catherine Downey and Gladys Swyers both in Stephenville Crossing, Mae Nolan in Ontario; three grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Friends may call at St. Philomena Chapel in Three Rock Cove on Monday, April 1st, 2002 from where funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2002 at 11 a.m. with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Three Rock Cove. Funeral arrangements are under the supervision of Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen St. in Stephenville.

GILLINGHAM, Bessie

February 9th, 1913 - March 29th, 2002

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bessie Gillingham announce her passing on Friday, March 29th, 2002 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 89th year. She will be sadly missed by her six daughters: Margaret (Edgar) Chipp of La Scie, Dinah (Neville) Ralph of Pollard's Point, Bertha (Willis) Langford of Deer Lake, Carrie (Claude), Linda (Robert) Blanchard both of Pollard's Point and Valerie (Bruce) Pittman of Sops Arm. Seven sons: Raymond, Garfield (Dora), Albert (Mary), Calvin (Millie), Pearce (Yvonne) all of Pollard's Point, Ross (Christine) of Labrador City, and Barry (Sandi) of Barrie, Ontario; 76 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. One brother Edward Hynes of St. Anthony and two sisters: Martha and Joanne of Ontario. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jobe in 1986, daughter Jeanette, grandson Leighton and daughter-in-law Rose. Visitation took place from the Anglican Church in Pollard's Point on Sunday where also funeral services will take place today, Monday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Woodman officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 Northmain Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jane Pike announce her passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Friday, March 29th, 2002 at the age of 85 years. She will be sadly missed by her brother Bill (Myrtle) Coombs in Halifax, her two sisters: Annie Strickland in Halifax and Lilly Rendall in Stephenville along with her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will take place on Monday April 1st, 2002 at 2 p.m. from St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church in St. David's with interment in the Church Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the supervision of Russell's Funeral Home, Station Road in Stephenville Crossing.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Harold H. Archibald announce his passing at Truro, Nova Scotia on March 20, 2002 at the age of 41 years. He will be sadly missed by his special friend, Margie Winters of Amherst, Nova Scotia and six sisters: Paulette (Dave) Goulding of Mount Pearl, Elaine Archibald of Stephenville, Jackie (Urban) White of Stephenville, Lynn Archibald of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Lorraine Archibald of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, Eleanor Archibald of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and two sons: Timothy Tulk of Stephenville and Christopher Copeland of Chiliwack, British Columbia and three nephews, four nieces and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Lucille Archibald. BILLARD, Cecil Joseph
Cecil Joseph Billard, 69, Dartmouth, formerly of Port au Choix, NF, passed away March 15, 2002, at home with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy and after an honourary discharge, he became a successful businessman. Besides his love for his family, he loved to spend time at fishing, golfing, skiing and karate. Because of his zest for life and love for his family, he will always be kept close to their hearts. He will be sadly missed and forever loved and remembered. Surviving are his wife, Vi (Reid) Billard; daughters: Elizabeth "Betty" and Serge Noel, Yellowknife, Kimberly and Bert Kendall, Dartmouth, Darlene and Glen Croucher, Mount Pearl, NF; son Larry and Cathy Billard, Mount Pearl, NF; brothers: Gordon and Leon; sisters: Marina, Jenny, Shirley, Evelyn, Eileen, Pauline, Myra, Judy, Laura, Helena, Jeannie; grandchildren: Melissa, Allison, Mitchell and Katie Billard, Raina and Jason Noel, Janine, Tiffany and Nathan Kendall and Kelli and Jessica Croucher. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Paraplegic Association.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Andrena Gabriel-Wiseman announce her sudden passing at her residence in Corner Brook on Sunday, March 31, 2002 at the age of 42 years. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Basil and two sons: Kristian and Kyle, both of Corner Brook and her daughter, Gabrielle of Corner Brook; her mother, Mary (Pearl) Gabriel of Kippens; four brothers: Robert (Lea) Gabriel of Halifax, Nova Scotia, John (Beverly) Gabriel of Kippens, Peter (Madonna) Gabriel of Kippens, Wade Gabriel of Manitoba; four sisters: Delores (Jerry) Blackwood of Spokane, Washington, Lythia (Gregory) Keeley of Stephenville, Phyllis (Rudy) Hibbitts of Cold Brook, Wanda (Bailey) Hibbitts of Cold Brook and she will also be sadly missed by her mother-in-law, Mary Wiseman of Corner Brook and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Peter Gabriel on January 6, 2002. She will be sadly missed by her son Craig and his companion Beverley, 3 grandchildren: Joseph, Tara, and Jacob; sisters: Ruth Montgomery of Corner Brook and Joan (Jim) Rice of St. John's; brothers: Pastor David (Valerie) Thorne of Reidsville, and Melvin of Woodstock, Ontario; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Deborah Janes in 1991. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Wednesday & Thursday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9. Passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Sunday, March 31, 2002 in her 85th year, Kitty (nee LeDrew), beloved wife of the late Herb and cherished mother of Heather MacGillvary, Suzanne and her husband Robert Gallant, Robert and his companion Donna, and Daniel and his partner Dee; devoted grandmother of Debbie and her husband Paul Webb, Darren Gallant and his wife Michelle, and Evelyn MacGillvary; and loving great grandmother of Samuel, Meghan, Rachel, Robyn, Ashley and Matthew; much loved sister of Frank LeDrew of Pasadena, Nfld. and the late Vera MacLean, Hazel Burnell, Ida Edens, Robert, Walter, Bill and Boyd LeDrew. A private family service will be held at the Dixon-Garland Funeral Home, Markham. Kitty was a former employee and supporter of the C.N.I.B. If desired, donations to the C.N.I.B. in her memory would be appreciated.

Leaving to mourn with fond, loving and everlasting memories are: his loving, caring and devoted wife Catherine (nee Gale); six sons: Gary and wife Paulette, Darrell and wife Elaine, Karl and wife Coreina, Hayward and wife Donna, Frank and wife Brenda, all of Corner Brook, Fred and wife Wanda of St. Catherine's, ON; two daughters: Verna Sandor, Darlene Vatcher and husband Ray, all of Corner Brook; one brother Bill and wife Mae of Corner Brook; 15 grandchildren: Valerie, Natasha, Justin, Crystal, Michelle, Melissa, Jeremy, Jason, Tammy, Don and Dwayne, all of Corner Brook, Cindy of Edmonton, Al and Tina of California, Roy and Patricia of Ontario; four great-grandchildren: Aaron, Alisha, Hailey of Corner Brook, and Brittany of California, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Trephina C. Crocker announce her passing on Thursday, April 4th, 2002 at the Bonne Bay Health Centre in her 73rd year. She will be sadly missed by her four daughters: Elizabeth Crocker (Ron Mills) of Alberta, Janet (Shawn) White of Trout River, Jennifer Crocker (Glenn Kennedy) of Kelligrews and Karen Crocker (Dwayne Mulley) of Alberta. Six sons: George (Joy), Anthony (Joy), both of Trout River, Horace (Jackie) of Port aux Basques, Frederick (Sheila), Alex (Dorothy), both of Trout River and Morely of Ontario. Twenty one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Four sisters: Julia (Pious) Keough of Parsons Pond, Dorcas Goosney of Birchy Head, Bertha (Bryant) Blanchard of Parsons Pond and Christine (Arch) Payne of Wabush, Labrador. Three brothers: Ben (Annie), Harvey (Alma) and Andy (Hannah), all of Parsons Pond. Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas F., son Harry, brothers: Norman, Henley, Edmund and her sister Viola Caines. He was predeceased by his wife Lena, brother Lloyd, and his parents Frank and Florence Walbourne. Also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Flossy and Joseph Snow, one sister Annie Alma Snow and one brother, George Allister Snow. On September 14, 2001 Cindy, daughter of Fred and the late Hedy Lewis, and Andrew, son of Andrew and Corinne Leslie were united in marriage at St. Mary's Church in Curling. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Edward King. Matron of Honour was Alison Maddigan-Cox. Best Man was Tony Greening. Bridal attendants were Jennifer Stone and Tara Buckley. Groom attendants were Jason Brake and Terry Kennedy. We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who shared in our special day.

Robert and Terry Parrill of Corner Brook are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Nancy Joyce to Roland George Hewitt of Norris Arm North, on June 30, 2001 at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church in Corner Brook. Maid of Honour and Soloist was Carla Bugden (friend of bride); Bridesmaids were Angela LeRoy and Deanna Clarke (sisters of bride), and Jeanice Roberts and Andrina McGraw (friends of bride/groom). Best Man was Lewis Hayman (friend of groom); Groomsmen were Harold Hewitt (brother of groom), Stephen Roberts, Dwayne Greenham (friends of bride/groom) and Rob Parrill (brother of bride). Flower girl was Amber LeRoy (niece of bride); Ring bearer was Dylan Colbourne (son of groom). Ushers were Darren Clarke (brother-in-law of bride) and Jeff Carey (friend of bride/groom). Jason and Janet Spurrel (cousins of bride) performed a musical duet accompanied by Karen Michael. A wedding reception was held at the Royal Canadian Legion and the couple honeymooned in Cuba. Violet Pye (Boone) of Corner Brook, NF, at age 69 passed away very peacefully on April 19th, 2002 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Violet will be clearly missed, always loved and never forgotten by friends, family and by husband Terrence Pye. She was born on May 24th, 1932 in South Brook, to parents A.J. and Sarah Martin. Violet moved to Corner Brook and made it her hometown. There she worked at the Canada Employment Centre for 33 years before retiring in 1991. As a very devoted, loving and never-tiring mother, she committed her life to raising three children (Debbie Rowsell, Sandra Cleary and wayne Boone) after the death of her first husband Ronald, Joseph Boone (deceased in 1967). Violet is known by her family and friends as being a fun card player, a lover of gardening and berry picking, a family person, a good neighbour, and a baker of wonderful squares and cookies. Violet will be greatly missed by her husband Terry; children: Debbie (Dartmouth, NS), Sandra (New Minus, NS) and Wayne (Eastern Passage, NS); son-in-law Kevin Cleary; step-daughters: Susan Pye-Morris (St. John's) and Alison Pye-Weick (St. John's); grandchildren: Ashley Rowsell, Aimee Cleary, Adam Cleary, Kendra Cleary, Jeffrey Boone and Katie Boone (all of Nova Scotia); step-grandchildren: Anna Morris, Shane Morris and Aaron Weick (all of St. John's). Mr. Kennedy was employed in shipping in the Great Lakes and before his retirement in 1998 he was employed at the saint John Shipbuilding as a Dock Rigger. Surviving in addition to his wife Marilyn are two sons Robbie and his wife Jean of Saint John, Anthony of Calgary, three brothers Joseph and his wife Barb, Tony and his wife Diane, Dennis and his wife Barb all of Corner Brook, Newfoundland; three sisters: Marie Kennedy, Marjorie Decker and her husband Peter, Joan Kennedy all of Corner Brook, Newfoundland; two grandchildren Andrew and Sara and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Myrtle of 51 years, his son Nicholas (Betty), his daughters Linda, Janice and Carol-Lee, Fort Nelson, BC, Teena (Jim) Edmonton, Alberta, his mother Gladys Bailey of Nicholsville, sisters Betty Moss and Mary, Nicholsville, brothers Frank (Bernie), Gus (Betty), Guy, Grandfalls, Wallace (Mercedes), Butch (Gail), Fort McMurray, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cremation to take place and a memorial service to take place on Monday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. from the Anglican Church in Deer Lake with Rev. Barter officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Elizabeth Sheppard announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at the age of 85 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her seven children; Calvin (Claudine), Louise (Faron) Critchley, Kevin (Theresa), Clarence, Jerry (Rose), Harold White, all residing in Shallop Cove, and Annie Marie (Ron) Sedens, Winnipeg, MB; 18 grandchildren: Brittany, Dwayne, Patricia, Karen, Dena, Neil, Darren, Jason, Rhonda, Mark, Derrick, Andrew, Shane, Cory, Joselyn, Kim, Joanne and Joe as well as eight precious great-grandchildren, and two special nieces, June and Marguarite. She is predeceased by her husband, Medrick Sheppard and parents Clarence White and Annie MacIssac. Friends visited St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, St. George's on Saturday evening and Sunday from where the Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 29 at 10:00 a.m., Father Ariel Garcia officiating, interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Shallop Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Clive Tulk announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 72 year. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Amanda, his sons Stanley (Elizabeth), Robert (Isabel), Kerry and friend (Betty), his daughters Barbara (David Brown), Erlene (Colin Kennedy), seven grandchildren Alison, Claudia, Shelley, Stephanie, Jeremy, Thomas, Amy, sister Emma May Simmonds, Texas, brothers Douglas (Inez), George (Louise), his stepmother May Tulk, his uncle Harry Maye and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Diane, brothers Gerald, Robert and Aubrey, his sisters Joan and Shirley. Visitation took place on Friday, April 26, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 27 at 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service took place on Sunday, April 28 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's United Church with Rev. Tony Newell officiating. Interment followed at the family plot on Wight's Road. By request of the family, flowers or donations may be made to St. Paul's United Church, Deer Lake or to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Noble Blanchard announce his passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, April 29th, 2002 at the age of 76 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is his beloved wife Hilda; daughter Karen Gale and her husband Kevin, son Neil and his friend Jackie; three precious grandchildren: Jennifer, Megan and David; two sisters: Bertha Delaney, Cox's Cove and Elvie Companion (Eric), Frenchman's Cove; sister-in-law Jessie Brake; brother-in-law George Brake (Florence); special nephew Myles Blanchard, as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Ellen Blanchard, sister Eva and brothers: Harold and Michael. The family will be receiving friends from St. James Anglican Church, Gillams on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1st, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Ken Abbott officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Meadows. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James Church Building Fund or to the charity of one's choice. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Keough announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Sunday April 28, 2002 at the age of 69. She is survived by her three sons: Clifford (Wanda) of Oshawa, David of Stephenville and Tony of Montreal; daughter Diane (Rick) of Cambridge, Ontario; six grandchildren: Donald, Matthew, Nicole, Valerie, Christopher and Megan; brothers: Noble and Reginald; sisters: Elizabeth, Cora, Janet, Judy and Eileen; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford Sr. in 1992, a son Walter in 1996 and her parents Walter and Violet Brockway and brothers Don and Melvin. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Rd. on Monday April 29, 2002 from 7-9 and on Tuesday April 30, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will take place from All Hallows Roman Catholic Parish, Humber Rd. on Wednesday May 1, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Kelly officiating. Interment at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Rd. 634-2500.
