The family of the late Jack Hann sadly announce his passing on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the age of 73 years. He will be sadly missed dearly by his wife Veronica (Gillis); daughter, Paulette (Jerry) Tiller; sons: John Jr., Raymond, Wayne (Betty), Kevin (Michelle), Leonard (Joy) and his grandchildren: Jarret and Christine, Bradley and Blaine, Janice and Kelly; Samantha and Tanner. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert (Eileen) and Edmund (Theresa); sisters, Genevieve Kerr and Mary (Jim) Pomeroy and sister-in-law, Marilyn. He will also be sadly missed by a large number of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Gertrude; brothers, Raymond and Joseph and brother-in-law, Wallace Kerr. Visitation took place at the Maria Regina Parish, Port au Port East on Saturday evening and Sunday. Funeral services will take place on Monday, April 2nd at 2:00 p.m. from the Maria Regina Parish, Port au Port East with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Port au Port East. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Port au Port Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund or the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Yvonne Mary Retieffe announce her passing at her residence in DeGrau on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at the age of 82 years. She will be sadly missed by five sons: Arthur Leonard (Irene) Retieffe of Nova Scotia, Lloyd (Lillian) Retieffe of DeGrau, Myron Retieffe (Marilyn Jesso) of Marches Point, Leslie (Cathy) Retieffe of Nova Scotia, Kevin (Gloria) Retieffe of DeGrau; six daughters: Florence (John) Fitzgerald of DeGrau, Evelyn (Cecil) Simon of DeGrau, Verna Campbell (Mark Young) of Stephenville, Elaine (Glenn) Madore of DeGrau, Yvonne (Gary) Benoit of Marches Point, Doreen (Kevin) Hartlen of Nova Scotia; one brother, Wallace (Mildred) Cornect of DeGrau; one sister, Flora (Peter) Tomney of Nova Scotia and a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Retieffe on January 5, 1995 and her parents, Battiste and Margaret Cornect. Friends may call at Our Lady of the Cape Parish in Cape St. George on Monday. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of the Cape Parish with interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Marches Point. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Robert John Hanlon announce his passing on Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Brampton, Ontario at the age of 48. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Kelly of New Brunswick as well as his mother Evelyn of Stephenville; four brothers: Jerome (Audrey) Hanlon, Walter Jr. (Ruby) Hanlon and Luke (Cecile) Hanlon all of Brampton, Ontario and Steve (Myra) Hanlon of Stephenville; seven sisters: Charmaine of Mississauga, Camilla of Brampton, Pauline (Blaine) Perrier of Oakville, Ontario, Jacinta (David Janes) of Edmonton, Alberta, Irene (Warren) Carter of Paris, Ontario, Christine (Raymond) Bourgeois and Odelia (Donald) Caul of Stephenville, Newfoundland. As well a large number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends. He was predeceased by his brother Gene on December 22, 1998 and his father Walter on June 8, 1974. It is with great sadness that the family of the late William James Grant announce his passing at the J. I. O'Connell Centre on Sunday, April 1st, 2001 at the age of 75. KINSLOW, John

Passed away on Monday, April 2, 2001 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital John Kinslow at the age of 78 years. He served during W.W.II in the services overseas and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #35, Stephenville. Mr. Kinslow worked as a carpenter and commercial fisherman prior to his retirement. He leaves to mourn seven sons: Lewllyn (Patsy), Bruce (Blanche), Phil (Carol), Stephenville; Tom (Johann), Isle aux Morts; Raymond (Marion), Port aux Basques; Wallace (Karen), Burnt Island; John (Kathleen), Halifax; two daughters: Bertha (Paul) Chipp and Darlene (Mark) Barter, Stephenville; thirty-eight grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; sister Mary, Port aux Basques; brothers: Joseph (Mary), Burgeo; Claude (Florence), Port aux Basques; Owen, Halifax, as well as a large circle of family and friends and Mrs. Mary Keough. He was predeceased by his first wife Emily (nee Neil), his second wife Mary (nee Bennett); son James, sister Dora and brother Wallace. The family will be receiving friends from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 25 Prince Rupert Drive, Stephenville on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Isle aux Morts beginning Tuesday at 2 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Hubert Vallis officiating, followed by the interment at the church cemetery. It is with great sadness the family of Leon Bernard Madore announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the age of 72 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife, Dolly; two daughters: Janet (Perry Morris), Jeffrey's and Lorraine (Paul Bennett), Stephenville; three sons: Cecil (Donna), Jeffrey's, Jerry (Rhonda), Robinsons and Jerome (Corrina), Highlands; nine grandchildren: Cory, Sabrina, Junior, Grant, Jeanine, Kelly, Clayton, Jake and Blake, a number of brothers, sisters and a large circle of nieces and nephews. Leon served during the Korean War and was a member of the Legion Branch #60 in Jeffrey's. He enjoyed the outdoors greatly and creating crafts for various occasions, and was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Anglican Church. He was predeceased by his son, Leon "Junior" and brother, Austin. The family will be receiving friends from St. Mary Magdalen Anglican Church in Jeffrey's commencing Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. from where the funeral will take place Thursday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations may be made to the St. Mary Magdalen Church Cemetery Fund or a charity of one's choice. He will be sadly missed by his mother, Katherine Walsh of Rocky Harbour; one brother, Walter of Sally's Cove; two sisters: Thelma (Wilson) Pond of Rocky Harbour, Agnes (Donald) Laing of Nova Scotia; his brother-in-law, Lewis Shears of Rocky Harbour; his nieces and nephews: Daphne (Owen), Krista, both of Ontario, Christine (Joe) of Saskatchewan, Juanita (Adrian), Kevin (Rosie), both of Nova Scotia, Dion (Corie), Marjorie (Bill), both of Saskatchewan, Keith (Janice) of Rocky Harbour, Sheila (Michael), Randy (Cathy), both of Ontario, and Michael (Annette) of Rocky Harbour; also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Stephen on August 23rd, 1981 and his sister, Bride Shears on June 5th, 2000. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Sally's Cove this evening, Friday, where also funeral services will take place on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Newhook officiating. She was predeceased by her first husband George, daughter Winnie, parents Abraham and Bessie Gale, sisters, Irene Ricketts, Lovetta Gale and Mary Hatcher; two brothers, Eli Gale and Frank Gale. Anderson, Donald A., - 69, Burgeo, Newfoundland,
died on April 3, 2001, in Burgeo at the Calder Health Care Centre, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Burgeo, Newfoundland, March 3, 1932, he was a son of the late Edward and Matilda (Strickland) Anderson. A lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, he touched the lives of all those who knew him. He truly enjoyed a strong faith in God, music and his boat. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, the former Eva Hardy; sons: Donald and his wife Wanda of Rose Blanche, Nfld., Gregory and his wife Doreen of St. Jones Within, Nfld.; daughters: Theresa and her husband Gary Corsano of Sydney, N.S. and Andrea Anderson of Sydney, N.S. He was a loving "poppy Don" to his two grandsons, Tyson and Juan; four granddaughters: Glenda, Breagh, Natasha, and Kayla. He is also survived by sisters: Lena Fahey, of New Waterford, N.S., Elsie (Robert) Petrie of Windsor, Ont., and one brother, Aubrey of Burgeo, NF, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Paul and Corey; brothers, Matthew, John Thomas (Jack), James Edward (Ted), and George; sisters, Maude and Susan. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 8, at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, under the direction of Fillatre's Funeral Home.

Six grandchildren: Cory, LeAnne, Tracy, Rodney, Angela and Amy. Three great-grandchildren: Allan, Brandon and Nicholas. She was predeceased by her husband Walter in 1976. Passed peacefully away, April 9, 2001 in QEII, VG Site, Halifax after a lengthy illness. Born in Indian Islands, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Allan Frampton and Bessie (Sheppard) Frampton Collins. He retired from the position of manager of Canadian National Telecommunications, Corner Brook, Nfld. after a 35 year career. He was a parishioner and former member of the Men's Service Club of the St. John Evangelist Church, Corner Brook, Nfld. Upon retirement, he moved to Nova Scotia and continued to enjoy winters in Florida. Ken enjoyed building homes in Kentville, then Fall River before settling in Bedford. He was an avid outdoors man enjoying gardening, hunting and fishing. He will be sadly missed by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, all the family and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife, Ivy; daughters, Beverley Frampton (Robert Belanger), Lower Sackville; Marilyn Smart (Gilbert), Corner Brook, Nfld.; sister Meta Andrews and brother, Harold Collins, both of St. John's, Nfld.; grandchildren: Drew, Tyler, Julia Smart; Cassandra, Justin Belanger. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Austin Rumbolt announce his passing at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders on Wednesday, April 18, 2001. He was in his 87th year. He leaves to mourn his wife Rita; seven daughters: Jean O'Keefe, Port au Choix, Imelda (Kurt) Frenzel, Camden New York, Bernice Gregory, Richmond, BC, Sheila (Rene) Billard, Corner Brook, Linda (Ken) Holthusen, Brisbane Australia, Helena (Chris) Heward, Vernon BC, Clarice Piche, Vernon, BC; three sons: Martin Gould, Port au Choix, Daniel (Betty), Stephenville, Dean (Dolores) of Port au Choix. He also leaves to mourn 31 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one brother Ralph Rumbolt, Port Saunders and a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by daughter-in-law Margaret Gould. The family will be receiving friends at Fillatre's Funeral Home on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thirza Daniels announce her passing at the Interfaith Home for Seniors on Thursday, April 19th, 2001 in her 100th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her six daughters: Maisie Brake, Corner Brook, Gladys Miles (Wallace), Pasadena, Marion Nagle, Kitchener, ON, Ruby Power, Corner Brook, Melinda Daniels, Brighton, Mass, USA and Pearl Howley, Burlington, ON; one son, William (Hannah) of Corner Brook; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Cyril E. Daniels in June, 1977. Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, April 18th, 2001, Stanley James Butt at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 86 years. He is a veteran of 166th NF Field Regiment, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 13, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Bennett Hall, Corner Brook. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Dorothy (nee Jenkins), sister Edith Rowe, St. John's, brother-in-law Thomas Jenkins (Frances) of Lewisporte, sister-in-law Jacqueline Jenkins (Glahn) of Cape Cod, Mass, USA, sister-in-law Ivernia Butt, Woody Point, sister-in-law Emma Jenkins, St. John's, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Alice Sheppard Joyce announce her passing at the J. I. O'Connell Centre on Wednesday, April 25th, 2001 at the age of 79 years. She will be sadly missed by her family, her sisters: Isabel Warford (George), Adelaide Parsons, all residing at St. John's and Beatrice Hill at Truro, Nova Scotia. She will be also missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and special nephew, Harold Warford of Corner Brook. She was predeceased by her husband, William (August 4th, 2000), brothers: Bill, George, Saul and Amos and her parents, George and Kate Druggett. The funeral service will take place on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 167 Country Road with interment at The Roman Catholic Section at Mount Patricia Cemetery. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, Thursday during the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tributes may be made by making donations to the charity of one's choice. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Country Haven Funeral Home, phone 634-2500.

Kimberly Caroline Holmes-Carey was born on February 6th, 2001 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, weighing 5 lb. 6 oz. Proud parents are Terrilynn Holmes and Grant Carey. Grandparents are Rosemary and Jeffrey Holmes and Carol and Stephen Carey of Daniel's Harbour.

Jason and Krista Lewis of Little Rapids are delighted to announce the birth of their daughter, Chelsea Maria, 8 lb. 3 oz. on February 1st, 2001. WHEELER, Joyce
Age 77

Passed away at RiverWoods in Exeter, NH on April 11th after a long illness. She had been a resident of RiverWoods at Exeter since moving from her home in North Hampton in 1998. Joyce and her husband, Stan, were born in Newfoundland and emigrated to the United States during world War II. Stan's thirty-year career with the United Nations gave them the opportunity to live in North Africa, Thailand, Austria and the Middle East. Her retirement years were filled with avid reading, bridge, knitting and more travel. Joyce especially enjoyed the time she spent as a volunteer at the North Hampton Library. Joyce died peacefully surrounded by her three sons - Bruce of Tiburon, California; Roger of Chagford, England and Dic of Middletown, Connecticut. She is also remembered dearly by her three wonderful daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, two step grandchildren and her sister, Josie, in Newfoundland, Canada. The Wheeler family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the loving kindness and dedication of the staff at RiverWoods, who enriched and amused her during the last years of her life.

Passed away Thursday, April 26th, 2001 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Marie Pace at the age of 83. Left to mourn are her two sisters Theresa Thomas of Verdun, Blanche Pike of Corner Brook; sister-in-law Maisie Brake and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Pace, April 14, 1997. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 28th, at 3:00 p.m. from Fillatre's Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue, Monsignor Murphy officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon. As expressions of sympathy flowers or donations to the Canadian Cancer Society will be graciously accepted.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ramona Pike announce her passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Saturday, April 28th, 2001 at the age of 55 years. She will be sadly missed by her son Shawn (Carol O'Quinn) in Guelph, Ontario. She will also be missed by her brother Tex (Marie) Pike in Stephenville, her three sisters: Glenda Musseau in Stephenville, Elaine (Garfield) Connock in Edmonton, Alberta and Gloria Curnew in Etobicoke, Ontario along with a large circle of relatives and friends. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 1st, 2001 at 2 p.m. from St. Augustine's Anglican Church on Hillview Avenue with interment in the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery on the Hansen Highway. Friends may call at Russell's Funeral Home, 39 Queen Street in Stephenville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Diabetic Association.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley Hutchings announce his passing on Saturday, April 29th, 2001 at St. Claire's Hospital in his 76th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lillian; his two daughters Judy, Ivy (Ray); his three sons Stanley (Karen), Tom (Darlene) and Terry (Lisa); seven grandchildren: Blair, Dwayne, Ray Jr., Lezlee, Tommy, Anna and Julia; two great-grandchildren Chelsea and Noah. His sister Ivy Watts of Toronto and also a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Pearl Hutchings. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home, 63 North Main Road, Deer Lake on Monday, April 30th form 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 1st at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's United Church, Deer Lake with Rev. Tony Newell officiating. Interment to follow at the family plot. By request of the family, flowers are graciously accepted and also donations to St. Paul's United Church, Deer Lake. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Norman Joseph Duffney announce his passing on Sunday, April 29th, 2001 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 89 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving family, one daughters Margaret (Edward) Fewer, Benoit's Cove. Three sons: Douglas (Annie), Tony (Jackie), both of Benoit's Cove and Robert (Monica), Nova Scotia. Eight grandchildren: Kerry, Darryl, Monty, Dion, DeAnne, Catherine and Kenny. Six great-grandchildren: Dalton, Mandy, Kerri-Anne, Blake, Tara and Daniel. Two sisters: Marguerite (Ralph) Scott, Stephenville and Jean Mosuk, Toronto. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his wife Mary, June 9th, 1997, daughter Dolores, 1982, sisters Molly and Marjorie, brothers Andrew, Gerard and Martin. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street today form the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd from Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with Father Bernard Buckle officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers greatly accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
