It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joyce Enid Hounsell announce
her passing on Monday, February 27th, 2006 at the
Western Memorial Regional Hospital in her 71st year. She will be
sadly missed by her loving husband Malcolm; her son Bruce (Pearl); her granddaughter
Kayla; brother Alvin (Ivy) Cassell; two sisters: Daphne (Arthur) Osmond and
Shirley Eveleigh; five sisters-in-law: Neta Davis, Nora Seaward, Sadie Wicks,
Marina (Bill) Barry and Maimie Hounsell; her brother-in-law Douglas (Patsy)
Hounsell; also a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased
by her son Hiram, parents Mark and Alice, step-mother Blanche and brother Willis.
Visitation will take place from the United Church in Pasadena today Wednesday
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Where also the funeral service will take place on Thursday,
March 2nd at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wright officiating. Interment to follow at
the family plot. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Parsons Funeral Home,
63 North Main Street, Deer Lake.

Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on March 4, 2006 at the age
of 99 years. Predeceased by her husband Ira, 1962, and son James, 2002. Leaving
to celebrate her life are sons: Reginald (Rita), St. Catherine's, ON; Gordon
(Adelaide), Pasadena, NL; daughter-in-law Betty, St. Catherine's, ON; daughters:
Effie Riggs (Clarence) McCallum, NL, and Ruth Hatcher (Canon Reuben), St. John's,
NL; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three cousins: Carrie Hodder, St.
John's, NL, Annie McGabe, Glace Bay, NS, and John King, Bay D'Espoir; as well
as her friends and staff of St. Patrick's Mercy Home. A sincere thank you to
all the staff of the 1st floor, volunteers, dog therapy program, the Sisters
of Mercy, and Father John who gave of their time and became such close friends.
The care provided by all was exemplary. Wake at the Chapel of St. Patrick's Mercy
Home on Sunday 7-9 p.m., and Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service will take place
on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. from the Chapel of St. Patrick's Mercy

After a courageous battle with breast cancer at her home in Burlington, ON
on Sunday, March 5, 2006. Bonnie was born in Buchans, NL on April 15, 1941.
Loving wife of 42 years and best friend of David Candow. Cherished mother
of Vickie Candow and her husband Dwight Peer, Goderich, ON and Jim Candow
and his wife Heather White, Burlington, ON. Leaving behind twin sister Betty
and her husband John Seaborn of Manotick, ON, sister Jean and her husband
David Kelly, Mt. Pearl, NL and aunt Marguerite Taylor of Grand Falls/Windsor,
NL. She will be greatly
missed by her adoring grandchildren: Nicholas (7), Julia (4), Andrew (5), Christopher
(4), and Taylor (2). Bonnie graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland
in 1963 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and from OISE (University of Toronto) in
1983 with a Master of Arts in Education. Bonnie was loved and respected by
her teacher colleagues and students. Her strength, loving ways and sense

Passed away peacefully at his home in Corner Brook, William Gosse, formerly of
Spaniard's Bay. Predeceased by son Jim, granddaughter Jane. He leaves to mourn
his wife Lorraine, daughters Elaine (Rex Brown) and Barbara (Ken Moran), sons
Ted (Sue Monroe) and Roger (Kelley), grandchildren Luke and Katie. Also mourning
Lorraine's brothers and sisters Don, Alf, Gerald, Winston, Cavell, Winnie and
Norma and their families, lifelong friends Pauline and Bill Butt and numerous
relatives and friends especially in Spaniard's Bay, St. John's, South River and
Corner Brook. Bill Gosse skippered a fishing crew down on the Labrador until
the early 1950's then worked as a carpenter in St. John's until his retirement
in 1984. He was a lifelong gardener and berry picker, keen follower of current
events and an enthusiastic sports fan. Those who knew him will especially remember
his phenomenal memory and ability to tell a story. He was a family man first
and foremost. His other loves were the coast of Labrador and the generations
of people who inhabited Spaniard's Bay. He will be long remembered and sadly
missed. He was a son of traditional Newfoundland. An era is ending. The funeral
will take place at Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Spaniard's Bay, Saturday, March

HUDSON, Agnes Lillian (nee Williams)
1920 - 2006
Lillian was born and raised in Pouch Cove. She was the youngest child
of Agnes (Gould) and Nathaniel Williams. After high school and Memorial
College, Lillian’s
Teaching career took her to St. Paul’s and Cow Head on the Northern
Peninsula; Flat Islands, Bonavista Bay and Topsail. In September of
1946, Lillian married George Hudson of Pouch Cove, upon his return
from active duty with the British Royal Navy in World War II. Lillian
was very active in her community and her church. She was a reader at
All Saints Anglican Church, held various executive positions in the
Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Silver Threads
Senior Citizens Organization. She gave of her musical talents whenever
needed, whether it was as church organist or to provide the music for
an impromptu singsong. Today her family celebrates and thanks God for
her long life, children: Irene Hudson LeGrow, Norman Hudson (Evelyn)
and Paula Feehan (Jim), her seven grandchildren: Deanne LeGrow (John
Beazley), Justin, Cameron and Morgan Feehan and her four great-grandchildren:
Stephanie and Gavin Hudson and Andrew and Connor Coombs; sisters: Madeline
Barnes (Harry) and Edith Clarke, sisters-in-law: Julia and Elizabeth
Williams and Dellie Hudson. Lillian was predeceased by her dear husband
George, parents Agnes and Nathaniel Williams, brothers Charles, Clement
and Herbert Williams and sister Irene French.

Passed away peacefully at his home in Corner Brook, William Gosse,
formerly of Spaniard’s Bay. Predeceased by son Jim, granddaughter Jane.
He leaves to mourn his wife Lorraine; daughters: Elaine (Rex Brown) and Barbara
(Ken Moran); sons: Ted (Sue Monroe) and Roger (Kelley); grandchildren: Jill
(Aubrey Sanders), Jim, Brendan, Clara Jane, Will and Sam and great grandchildren:
Luke and Kate. Also mourning Lorraine’s brothers and sisters: Don, Alf,
Gerald, Winston, Cavell, Winnie and Norma and their families, lifelong friends:
Pauline and Bill Butt and numerous relatives and friends especially in Spaniard’s
Bay, St. John’s, South River and Corner Brook. Bill Gosse skippered a
fishing crew down on the Labrador until the early 1950's then worked as a carpenter
in St. John’s until his retirement in 1984. He was a lifelong gardener
and berry picker, keen follower of current events and an enthusiastic sports
fan. Those who knew him will especially remember his phenomenal memory and
ability to tell a story. He was a family man first and foremost. His other
loves were the coast of Labrador and the generations of people who inhabited
Spaniard’s Bay. He will be long remembered and sadly missed. He was a
son of traditional Newfoundland. An era is ending. The funeral will take place

Predeceased by husband Lloyd (1976); sons: Rae (1998) and Wayne (2000)

p.m. from where the Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, April
4th at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Charles O'Regan. Interment will follow

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roland Piercey announce
his passing on Wednesday, March 29th, 2006 at
the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in his 56th year. He
will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 36 years Pauline (Park), 5
children: Darren (Anita), Dwayne (Loretta) both of Cox's Cove; Paul (Charmaine),
Orangeville, ON; Roland Jr. (Rochelle), Brampton, ON and Quinton (Tara),
Kitchener, ON. 6 grandchildren: Dylan, Brandon, Brittany, Olivia, Joshua
and Christopher. 5 sisters: Cassie (Allan) Reid, Vancouver; Edna (Ray)
Piercey, New Harbour, TB; Kay (Leo) Murrin, Cox's Cove; Sheila and Helen
(Jet) both of New Harbour, TB. 4 brothers: Sam (Yvonne), New Harbour,
TB; Ferlin (Janet), Heart's Delight; Jeff, Bonavista and Harold, Cox's
Cove, sisters-in-law: Rhoda (Bill) Best, Cox's Cove and Gwen (Jimmy)
Murphy, Irishtown, brother-in-law Max (Alvina) Park, Cox's Cove; grandmother

was predeceased by his parents William and Evelyn and brother Stewart.
Friends may visit Emmanuel Pentecostal Church, Cox's Cove on Friday,
from where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1 at 2:00
PM with Pastor Crane officiating. Interment to follow at the Pentecostal
Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the family.

Benoit's Cove, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Stanley
George Herritt announce his passing on Thursday,
March 30th, 2006 at the Western Memorial
Regional Hospital at the age of 82. He will be sadly missed by his eight
children: Mary Cooper, Clara Cochrane (Bob), Phillip Herritt (Violet),
Elizabeth Porter, Joan Herritt, Walter Herritt (Debbie), Margaret Marche
(Danny), Dianna Clarke (Lloyd); 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren;
sisters Pearl Nurse (Rudell), Grand Bank, Bertha Strickland, St. John's,
brother Jake Herritt, Scotland as well as nieces, nephews, relatives
and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Geraldine, January 31, 2006,
parents Phillip & Clara Herritt, son Bernard (Bob) White, son-in-law
Charles Cooper, sisters Elizabeth Stoodley & Gertrude Walters. Friends
may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street Friday from 2-4 & 7-9
p.m. The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 1st at 11:00 a.m.
from St. Ambrose Anglican Church, John's Beach Reverend Nellie Thomas
officiating, followed by the interment at the RC Cemetery, Benoit's Cove.
