DOYLE, Dorothy
Passed on: February 2nd, 2019
1922-2019

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Dorothy Doyle announce her passing at the age of 96 years on February 2, 2019 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was a kind, loving, gentle and modest lady who will be missed greatly by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. She was the essence of gentility. Never a cross word spoken. She loved her family dearly and did more than anyone will ever know for each and every one of them. She always put her family and others, before herself. Not because she should, but simply because that is who she was.
She loved drives on a nice day, slow walks up to the Sweet Shop, camping and blueberry picking with James, a good game of crib, spending time with her family and the comfort of her own home, in one of her favorite full aprons. She made some of the best Bird's Nests, Brownies, 'Potatoes Fried Flat in the Pan' and Hot Fresh Bread, you'll ever know. She loved a good joke and had a great sense of humor. She was very witty, but showed it in her quiet, gentle way. She was intelligent and so quick with numbers, but yet so very modest when given a compliment on any of her attributes. She loved the music she heard from her family and one of her favorite songs "Coat Of Many Colors" meant so much to her. She was happy when she knew her family were happy. She was patient, strong, loyal, compassionate and courageous. She fought a hard battle, but with complete grace, dignity, kindness and love throughout. She made a HOUSE a HOME. She was a rock, but yet the softest and safest place to fall. She had the best ear to listen and an absolute heart of gold. Her family's lives will now be changed forever, but she will never leave their hearts, minds or souls. She will be with them in so many ways and will watch over them now in her own gentle, loving way.
Leaving to mourn with so many wonderful memories, her two sons: Tom Doyle of Kippens and Vernon (Betty) Doyle of Goulds, her four daughters: Doreen Doyle (Sandy Keeping), Pat Irene Doyle and Kathy Doyle (George Lucas) all of Stephenville and Diane Doyle (Paul Noseworthy) of Kippens.
Also leaving to mourn her sister Tillie O'Neill of Kippens, sister-in-law Annie White of O'Regans, sister-in-law Eileen Doyle of Corner Brook, brother-in-law Leonard (Kay) Doyle of St. Andrews, grandchildren Tola (Jeff) Hulan and Tom Doyle Jr., both of Kippens, Maci (Calvin) Barry of Stephenville, Holly Doyle of Goulds, Jessica Doyle of Vancouver, great-grandchildren Emily Hulan and Abby Hulan, both of Kippens, very special and loving caregivers Patsy Frank and Lisa Marche, both of Stephenville and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband James Doyle, four brothers, three sisters, daughter-in-law Pat Doyle and parents Catherine and Placide White.
Visitation will take place at Russell's Funeral Home on Sunday, February 3rd from 7-9 pm and on Monday, February 4th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place at St. Stephen's Parish on Tuesday, February 5th at 2 pm. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery. Flowers graciously accepted or donations to a charity of one's choice.

HOUSE, Herbert (Herb) Terrence
Born: December 6th, 1945
Passed on: February 14th, 2019

Charming, talented, creative, affectionate, funny, loving, kind. Herb completed his journey as he lived his life, with grace and humour and he left the most beautiful legacy of love for us all, fittingly on Valentine's Day. Along with Mazie, he cherished every moment of their entire journey together including the last beautiful chapter spent hand in hand in a cuddle bed on the Palliative Care Unit at WMRH. Together, they welcomed friends and family and celebrated each other and everyone who touched their lives along the way. Herb was well known and admired for creating culinary magic as he lifted a glass of red wine, for his beautiful artwork, his ability to bring music and levity to every gathering, his step-dancing skills and his monstrous drive at golf courses around the world. He grew up in Bellburns and fell madly in love with Mazie, a girl from Port Saunders, the love of his life and centre of his world for more than fifty years. The classiest duo in all of the land, they would turn heads wherever they went, and their love story is perhaps the greatest of our time. Herb understood people deeply, and fiercely loved his family and friends, making every single person feel loved and special. While Herb allowed space in conversations, when he made a point, it was always worth listening to, and when he made a well-timed joke, it was sure to get a big hearty laugh. Herb was passionate about the children in his life, and there were many. He was a deeply loved Papa, an uncle like no other, and as his nieces and nephews would say, "he wasn't just a regular uncle". He was a cherished cousin and a most treasured friend. Everyone wanted to be his favourite and most knew that they were; that was his special gift, making his children feel so valued and loved. Herb was a shining example of all that is good and beautiful in the world; showing everyone he loved the truest meaning of family. Mazie's heart is overflowing with love and gratitude for the gift of friends and family and chosen family and all the love that they have shown in so many ways throughout this journey. Alongside Herb's dear sister Rachel Pickett and a beautiful circle of family and friends, there is a lifetime of memories to cherish together. Another wonderful circle of love awaited Herb the night he passed; what a reunion! A true celebration of Herb's life will be held at one of his favorite places, the Blomidon Golf and Country Club, on Sunday, February 17th, 2019 from 2 to 4 PM. Everyone is welcome to gather, raise a glass, share a story and give Herb the wonderful send-off he deserves. Donations to The Western Regional Hospital Foundation will be graciously accepted to help furnish another room with a cuddle bed so other families can enjoy those precious last moments snuggled in together.
