It is with great sadness that the family of the late Captain Scott Anderson announces his passing on Sunday, February 11, 2018. His life was well lived: full of adventures big and small that he shared with many loved ones. He passed away peacefully at the Cancer Care Centre in St. John's surrounded by his loving family. He is predeceased by his parents Captain S. Kirk Anderson (1927-1999) and F. Alfreda Anderson (1931-2016) and brother Ralph Roy Anderson (1951-2017), brother-in-law Bill Collins. He leaves to mourn a large group of family and lifelong friends. In particular his loving wife and life partner Daphne Nolan-Anderson; his sons Samuel James (Jennifer Brake) and Robert Roy Anderson; his brother Kirk D. Anderson (Jennifer) and sister Nancy E. Anderson-Forbes (Doug); brothers and sisters-in-law: Judy Collins, Tony Nolan (Judy), Shirley (Larry), Sharon (Tony), Harold (Carm), Darlene (Jim), Juanita (Rob) and Jim (Linda); lifelong friend Roy Perry; the crew of the Nancy-Jillian and a large group of nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly. Family and friends may visit Fillatres' Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Thursday, February 15th from 7-9 p.m. and Friday February 16th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Curling Memorial United Church, Curling Street with Rev. ANSTEY, Roland Hubert
Born: April 23rd, 1925

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Roland Hubert Anstey announce his passing on Monday, February 26th, 2018 at the Western Memorial Hospital in his 92nd year. He leaves to mourn his wife of 66 years Minnie Eileen (Chaulk). His children Wayne (Colleen), Nina (Larry) Hall, Winston (Lillian), Karen (Garry) Pinksen, Lindsey (Donna), Eileen (Sam) Young, Gloria (Byron) Head, Marina (Craig) Hillier, Sheldon (Cathy) and Valerie (Ivan) Gillingham. Grandchildren Gregory, Robert, Robyn, Danielle, JoEllen, Jonathan, Jeremy, Julie, Adam, Mark, Ashley, Vanessa, Natasha, Matthew, Stephanie, Andrew, Joshua, Benjamin, Daniel, Victoria and Noah and 14 great-grandchildren. Brothers Pierce (Agnes) Otto (Phyllis) Nelson (Sunshine) and sisters Myrtle and Margaret (Bramwell). Also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Arthur and Bessie, siblings Georgina, Norman, Evelyn, Edgar, Wilbert, Melita and Frank, and son-in-law Lloyd Williams. Visitation will take place from the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Deer lake on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm where also the funeral service will take place on Thursday at 2:00pm with Pastor Jeffrey White officiating. Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL, Clarice Vivian Barrett at the age of 97 years. She was predeceased by her husband Benjamin, son Benjamin Jr: daughters Gracie and Robin; daughter-in-law Linda. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: daughter-in-law Doreen; Hilda (Derek), Max, son-in-law John, William (Barbara), grandchildren: Steve (Kim), Jim (Tina), Susan (Rob), Rodney (Lisa), Nancy (Derek), Deana, Cheryl (Tommy), Karen (Ken), Jeff (Susan), Rhonda, Rachael, Jennifer (Matt), Jason (Tanya), Andrew, Lana (Paul), Kara (Steve); 34 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Sunday, February 18th from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Service of Celebration will be held on Monday, February 19th at 2:00 pm from the Salvation Army Temple, O'Connell Drive with Majors Cory and Pamela Pinksen officiating. Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday February 7, 2018 in Ottawa, Ontario in his 86th year. He leaves with, fond and loving memories, his wife Ann Bell of St. John's, his six children: David (Louise) of Cambridge, Ontario, Michael of Ottawa, Ontario, Peter (Anne-Elise) of Ottawa, Ontario, Stevan (Natalie) of Ottawa, Ontario, Elizabeth (Michael) of Ottawa, Ontario, Gordon of Alberta, his sisters: Alice Bezanson of Berwick, Nova Scotia and Florence Bell of Cambridge, Ontario, ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bill was predeceased by his brother Roderick Bell of Corner Brook, Newfoundland and sister Mary Connolly of Cambridge, Ontario.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the Late Richard Bennett announce his passing at his family residence in Flat Bay, NL on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2018 at the age of 85 years. He will be forever remembered and loved by his wife Noreen; sons: Rodney, Roger, Richard Jr., Robert; daughters: Paulette, Elaine; step-son Bernard; step-daughter Janet; grandson, who he raised, Brian Young; 29 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sister Olive Benoit as well as many nieces, nephews other family and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Henry Moses Burton announce his passing on February 2, 2018 at the WMRH in his 79th year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 58 years, Doreen (Pelley); children Bill (Ines) of Port Coquitlam BC, Leonard, Rick and Pamela all of Corner Brook; 3 grandchildren: Michael, Cassandra and Angelina; sisters: Marion Hull of CB, Elizabeth Hann of CB, Ruby Pelley of CB and Ella Lucas of North Carolina; brother Fred (Sylvia) Burton of CB; and also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He also leaves to mourn his much loved fur babies, especially Max who was Henry's shadow; Henry never met a dog he didn't love. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, word puzzles and cards. He worked at the mill as a Millwright from the 1960's to 1996. Henry was predeceased by numerous sisters and brothers; and his parents: Andrew and Mariah (Pilgrim). At Henry's request, cremation has taken place. Elsie Colbourne (Rose)
, age 76, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018, surrounded by family in Corner Brook. Born on Pass Island to Chesley and Lily Mae Rose (Crant), Elsie was the second of four children. After the family relocated to Corner Brook, Elsie met and married Fred Colbourne in 1962 and had three children Sherry McCarthy (Cyril), Sean Colbourne (Karen) and Sheldon Colbourne (Jodi). Later, Elsie would become the loving grandmother of Gillian, Jennifer (Thomas Blundon) and Janice (Coady Scott) McCarthy, and Laura, Emily, Jack, Anna and Max Colbourne. Elsie is survived by her brother Chesley Rose (Jocelyn); in-laws Mick Callahan, Pauline Miller (Ron), Pam Hawco (Jim) and Don (Ida), Ray (May), Brian (Sandra) and Genny Colbourne; special friend Don Callahan; aunts Hazel, Thanie and Roberta; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie is predeceased by her father Chesley, mother Lily, sister Bessie Callahan, brother John Rose, sister-in-law Margie Rose, mother and father-in-law Harold and Nellie Colbourne and brother-in-law Ted Colbourne. Elsie will be deeply missed by her family, large circle of friends, and co-workers at the Bank of Montreal. It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Thomas Collier announce his passing on Friday, February 2, at his home in Curling, NL. With family and loved ones by his side, he slipped peacefully into eternal rest. He leave to mourn his beloved wife and soulmate of 57 years, Marie (Wiseman) his seven children: Madonna Boyd (Roger), Anthony (Phyllis), his very special "little" Marie, John (Tammy), Martha (Angela), Christine St. George (Seumas) and Andrea (Savay); his eight grandchildren Kayla, Stephen, Kevin, Johnathan, Emma, Matthew, Chrissy, and his most recent pride and joy, baby Ellie Grace, sisters Marjorie Callahan (Stephen, deceased) and Marie Ozon (Robert, deceased), as well as a large number of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. CORMIER, Patricia Ellen

Patricia Ellen Cormier (nee Dunphy)
passed away peacefully on February 9, 2018 at the age of 92 with her five children by her side. Patricia was the daughter of Patrick Joseph Dunphy and Annie Corbage. Born in Boston she moved to Corner Brook with her parents in the early days of the mill. Patricia loved Corner Brook and was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, good music for dancing and a manhattan. Patricia married Harold Patrick Cormier in 1950 and together they raised five children. Left to cherish her precious memories are Keith (Doris), Terry (Christine Jensen), Kathy (Gary Kearney), Mary and Hal. Left to carry on her traditions are her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Richard (Melanie), Adam (Danika) and Jon (Jessica), Keith's children; Stephanie (Fred), Emmanuelle and Christoffer, Terry's children; Jamie-Lee (Brad), Kathy's daughter; Megan and Erika, Mary's daughters; Anna, Hal's daughter. Great-grandchildren Emily, Liam, Nathan Harold and Juniper.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband Harold who passed in 2006 and her siblings Kevin, Jack, Donald, Terry, and Larry and by her brother-in-law Daniel and her sisters-in-law Mabel, Shirley, and Marcheta. She is survived by her brother George (Ruby) and sisters Anita and Sandy (Hank), sisters-in-law Ruby, Thelma, Terri and Patricia, as well as numerous other relatives and friends who had the privilege of being touched by her beautiful spirit. After finishing high school in St. George's, Patricia did a year of studies at St. Francis University during World War II. Upon her return to Corner Brook she worked at the Mill until she and Harold married and started their family. With one of her first pay cheques she purchased land at Boom Siding. The cabin at Sleepy Valley became and continues to be where treasured memories live. Patricia returned to work with a young family, first as an accountant clerk and then accountant. She returned to school obtaining qualifications as an accountant. In 1980 she graduated from Memorial University with a Bachelor of Vocational Education. For many years she instructed Business Administration students at the Vocational School in Corner Brook.
Patricia believed fervently in the value of family and community. She was active in many activities and clubs in Corner Brook. She was Treasurer of Corner Brook's first ski club at Massey Drive. For many years she was Treasurer of the Marble Mountain Ski Club. From playing women's softball in her 20s, to swimming and downhill skiing until she was in her 80s, she believed in active living. Viewing at Fillatre's Funeral Home in Corner Brook on Sunday, February 11 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm and on Monday, February 12 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Edward Terry on Tuesday, February 13, 10:00 am at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer and Immaculate Conception. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. Flowers or a donation to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice is gratefully appreciated.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Archibald Crocker announce his passing on Friday, February 9, 2018 at his family residence at the age of 62 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Roseletta; daughter: Michelle (Derek) Leboubon; son: Trevor (Ashley); grandchildren: Gabriella, Madison, Niam, Lexi, Desirae, Rihanna, Clair and Ashton; mother: Lena; grandmother: Lillian; brothers: Warren (Phobe), Quentin (Lisa), Quincy (Twanya); sisters in-law: Doris (Lyle), Delphine (Dermot), Lena (Tim), Emily, Olive (Joe), and Rachel (Lloyd); brothers-in-law: Augustus (Sandy), Silas (Sherry), and Willie (Diane); and a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father: Gerald; brother: Hubert; sister: Levina; grandfather: Benjamin Wells; parents-in-law: Lucy and Albert Mullins. It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Druggett announce his sudden passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on Monday February 26th, 2018 at the age of 57 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Carol, his pride and joy son Samuel and fur baby Riley. Also left are his sister Debbie (Bryan) McLeod, mother-in-law Myrna Moulton, brothers-in-law; David (Cindy) Brown, Darrell (Stephanie) Brown, Gordon Dunn and Calvin Wheeler, sisters-in-law Daphne (Jerry) Foote, Betty Young, Sharon Joyce and Kay Brown, uncle Kenneth Druggett as well as numerous nieces, nephews, many other relatives, extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his parents John and Eliza (Wheeler) Druggett of Lark Harbour, by his sisters; Lorraine (Rudy) Mouland, Lillian Dunn, Isabel Wheeler and Loretta (Arthur) Wheeler, father-in-law Arthur Brown, brothers-in-law Monty Brown and Scott Young. John was known to all who loved him as "Jack of all trades and Master of many." The family will be receiving friends at Russell's Funeral Home in Stephenville on Wednesday February 28th, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday March 1st, 2018 at 11 am from Zion Pentecostal Church on Carolina Avenue with Pastor Darren Sacrey officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Raymond enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid Athlete who enjoyed skiing, kayaking and was a marathon participant. It is with great sadness that the family of Maxwell David Keeping, son of Elsie and Hiram Keeping, announce his passing on Monday, February 12, 2018. Max was the beloved husband of Christine (Butt) Keeping, father to Jeffrey (Arlene) and Jill (Mark). He was a caring grandfather to Henry, and step-grandfather to Andrew, Paula and Robin. Max was a fun loving brother to Linda, Shirley, Classie, Martha (deceased), Emma (deceased), Randell, Allan, Donald (deceased) and Hiram (deceased) and spouses. He was a cherished son-in-law to Eileen Butt and John Joe Butt (deceased), and brother-in-law to Shirley, Wanda, Rick (deceased), Valda, Carl, Byron, and spouses. Max was a generous soul who helped others in anyway he could. He was a supportive parent who was involved in the activities that his children enjoyed, including the Air Cadet Parents Committee, and School Parent Committee. Max was a member of St. Mary the Virgin Church as a volunteer and vestry member. He was active with the MS society. In his younger days, he enjoyed taking long walks alone and with his loving wife of 47 years, as well as swimming, and cross-country skiing. In recent years, Max spent his time reading, doing word puzzles and keeping himself knowledgeable about world events and politics. It is with profound sadness that the family of Bradley Howard McCarthy announce his sudden passing on February 12 at the age of 38. Self-proclaimed as the "favourite child" of his parents, Howard and Sheila McCarthy, Brad was a man who loved to make people smile and laugh. There is no doubt he loved life completely and lived it intensely. Brad was fiercely protective of his family and friends; a trait he carried to a career where he proudly served his country as a soldier of the Canadian Armed Forces. Kind-hearted, lovable, thoughtful, and brave are just a few of the words to describe the man who was taken too soon. Brad undoubtedly left a lasting impression on those he came into contact with, and his generosity was unmatched. "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." Left to mourn his passing with fond and loving memories are his mother Sheila, father Howard, sisters: Marsha (Darryl), Joanne and Glenda, grandmother Gertrude, nieces: Brittany (Justin) and Courtney (Joe), Rachel, nephew Tristian, great-nephews: Brodie and Johnathan and great-niece Sierrah (who lit up his life), aunts: Vera (Austin), Madeline (Peter), uncle Harry (Joan), aunts: Eileen (Gino), Carol, Bridgette (Frank), Mary (Eric), Theresa (Glenn), Kathy, uncles: Ches (Marilyn), John (Wanda), Al (Karen) and Mick (Velita), who were also his Godparents, his favourite chess opponent Darren O'Connell, as well as numerous cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his Nan Rose Barnes, Pop Enos Barnes, Pop Nick McCarthy and uncle Gary Caines. Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home in Curling on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, February 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16 at 11 a.m. officiated by Fr. Died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, in Corner Brook, NL, at the age of 93 years. Annie was a beloved wife of the late Clarence Barrett Parsons, cherished mother of Jean (Zak Sheikh), Richard (Cathy), Barbara (Ernest Bridger), Clarence Jr (Ann), Frances (Rick Papiernik), Roy (Ruth), Glenn (Debbie), Cordell (Darlene), and Grace (James Knight). Much loved and devoted grandmother to 22 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. Also remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family including Diane, Donna, and Sandra. Annie was predeceased by her parents Frances and Richard Baker, her son Tony, brothers Eli (Violet) and Heber (Jenny) Baker, sisters Margaret (Sam), Crewe and Ethel (Bert Tilley), and granddaughter Andrea Mendelsohn. Born in Elliston, Newfoundland. Annie graduated from Memorial University and enjoyed a long career as a teacher and school Principal in several Newfoundland communities before settling with her family in Pasadena, where she taught for many years in South Brook's one-room school and then the Pasadena Elementary School until the end of her career in 1977. Mom spent many years as the organist at the Humber Valley United Church. After retiring she continued to tutor students until well into her 70's and thoroughly enjoyed many family gatherings. Visitation will take place for family and friends at the Humber Valley United Church in Pasadena, NL, on Wednesday, February 7th, 2018, from the hours of 7-9 pm, and continuing on Thursday, February 8th, 2018, from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm, where also the funeral service will take place from on Friday, February 9th, 2018, at 2 pm, with Rev. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Pennell on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the age of 75. Born and raised on Woods Island and a long-time resident of Curling, Marie was loyal to her family; her friends; her community; and her church. She lived her life with honesty; passion; and with unconditional integrity. She was talented and a leader in her community. She was an exceptional lady and beautiful human being. She leaves to mourn her loving husband of 54 years, Jack (John); her daughers Michelle Pennell, Madonna (Mark) Flynn, Lisa (David) Stewart, Tina (Vince) Sheppard and Mia (Dan) Greene; her grandchildren Sean, Aaron, Danette, Jonathan, Holly, Emily, Emma and Dawson. Marie had a large circle of friends and will be missed by them all. RENDELL, Doreen Ruth

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Doreen Ruth Rendell announce the passing of their beloved mother at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Monday, February 19, 2018 in her 81st year. Doreen was born on June 6, 1936 to Clarence and Susanne Parsons of North Sydney, NS, and later moved to Corner Brook, NL, where she married the late Ross Rendell and started a family. She was an active member of the community and truly enjoyed being a member of the Order of the Royal Purple. She also could be found at the local bowling alley, dart league and swimming pool. Doreen is survived by her three sons: Dennis, Darren and David and many of the neighbourhood children who frequented the Rendell house and referred to her as Mom or Mother Rendell. Her unique and wonderfully sarcastic sense of humor kept all laughing and on their toes. Her honesty and generosity was greatly appreciated by many. At Doreen's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal visitation or service at this time. It is with heavy hearts that the families of the late Debra Elizabeth Ryan announce her sudden passing at the age of 58 years at her residence in Ontario, on Friday, February 16th, 2018. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her two sons: Jeremy in Ontario and Michael (Emily) in British Columbia, her mother Margaret Ryan, her sisters and brothers: Peggy (Ali), Bobby (Sandra), Laura (Greg), Connie (Gary), Gus, John (Sherry), Art and Tracy (Rick), her extended family and very special friends: Basil and Jelena Carter, as well as her nephews, nieces, and a large circle of other relatives, and friends. She was predeceased by her partner Terry Carter, in 2012 and her father Joseph Ryan in 2010. Oh my glory, it is with heavy hearts that we have said goodbye to Margaret Taylor. Margie passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her family when she bid this world farewell. She leaves to mourn, her husband Donald, daughters: Cathy (Glenn), Linda (Colin) and son Stephen (Arlene), as well as her four grandchildren: Erika (Dustin), Alexander (Jessica), Joshua (Jessie) and Andrew (Jasmine), sisters-in-law: Marjorie Fradsham, Marion Ruth and brother-in-law John Taylor (Barbara) and many nephews, and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Walter and Gladys Fradsham, sisters June Rose (Tom), Sylvia Griffin (Gerard), Marilyn Roberts (Clyde), Ella Crews (Ray), Linda Fradsham and brother Albert Fradsham, sisters-in-law: Gwendolyn (Jack), Lillian (Bud), brothers-in-law: William (Bride), Howard (Bernice), and Roy. Margie led a very full life up to two weeks before her passing. She thoroughly enjoyed her Rummoli card club, her TOPS chapter, Bible Study group and the wonderful friendships she made. Her hearty laugh was a trademark and she kept her sense of humour right to the end. Her words of wisdom left an impression on all of whom she encountered. Her friends were well aware of her love of cats. Donations to Scaredy Cat Rescue or the Palliative Care Unit may be made in Margie's memory. Many thanks to the staff of emergency, 3A, and the Palliative Care Unit for their support and care. Margie has blown out the candle and closed the curtain. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Elizabeth, his brothers Vince, Harry, James, Francis Hubert and his sister Kay. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her beloved and devoted husband Jeff Wells, her three children who she loved dearly: her daughter: Jennifer Sexton (George) and their children, Brandon, Brady and Shannon; her sons: Dwayne Butt (Ashley) and their daughter Makayla (Tyler), and Bradley Butt (Nadine) and their son Ethan. Her five precious grandchildren who she adored. She also leaves to mourn her loving brothers: Max Sheppard, Rob Sheppard; her sisters: Shirley Butt (Fred), Marilyn Bellows, Sandra Clark and Barbra Molloy also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be sadly missed by her ten children: Henry (Rose) of Burgeo, Betty (Howard) Scott of Ramea, Raymond (Roberta) of Rose Blanche, Ephraim (Joan) of Port aux Basques, Douglas (Herma) of Seal Cove, Norman (Jacqueline) of Deer Lake, Thomas of Corner Brook, John of St. John's, Frank (Brenda) of Mitchell's Brook, and Clayton (Debbie) of Port au Port, and a circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, sisters Lavina and Hannah, brothers John and Joshua, baby son Dale Michael, and granddaughter Rebecca. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Derrick and Dean (Monique). Grandchildren Gregory (Kazia), Scott (Sarah), Taylor, Brent (Tracy) Stacey. Great-grandchildren Sasha (Eric), Katherine (Steve) Caitlyn, Sarah (Adam) Nicholas, Kirklin, Benjamin and Parker. Great-great-grandchildren Erin, Avery, Jane, Jack, Keir and Noah. His brother Rex (Eva), sisters Emma, Myra (Joe), Florence (Jim) and Cora, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elsie Olive, brothers Edwin and Maxwell, sisters Ruby, Margaret, parents George and Frances. Visitation will take place from the Anglican Church in Birchy Head on Monday, February 12, 2018 where also the funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 13th, 2018 at 2:00pm. with Rev.
