POOLE, Ann Naomi
(1926 - 2013)
Ann's three sons, Jeff, Dave and Steven, sadly announce the death of their mother in Wolfville on February 9th, 2013. Her death was peaceful and she was surrounded by love and grace to the end. Ann is survived and will be missed by her sons and their wives, Carolyn, Sandra and Lorna, her four granddaughters: Heather, Megan, Gillian and Julia, her dog-son Stanley, her sisters: Isabel and Joan, her brother Bob and his wife Phoebe, her many nieces and nephews and their families, and her friends including her friends at the Kenwo Bridge Club in Greenwich, Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Don, grand daughter Emily, parents Joseph and Sarah Beatrice Gillam, Aunt Belle, brothers: Don and his wife Vera, Ira and wife Muriel, Alex and Bill, sister Rhoda and her husband George, and nephews: Don and Gary. Ann was born in Woody Point, NF and while still a teenager moved to Boston where she lived and bonded for life with her mother's sister, Aunt Belle. Ann graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital as an RN, did post graduate work in New Jersey and lived and worked in Colorado and Boston. She left the United States to return to Newfoundland to marry Don in 1952. Don and Ann were soul mates and raised their sons to love their future wives as they loved each other. Ann was a woman of many talents. She was an exceptionally good gardener who could make anything grow anywhere no matter what the soil or weather conditions. She loved her garden and shared this passion with Carolyn, Sandra and Lorna. Ann was also renowned for the bread she baked and her granddaughters fondly remember "helping" her make it. (Don and her sons always enjoyed the feed of toutons that followed.) After Don died Ann set her mind to earn the points necessary to become a Duplicate Bridge Life Master. Tournaments in Victoria, Detroit, Fredericton and Halifax produced the desired results and she became a Life Master at the young age of 83. Until her 86th birthday she played competitive duplicate bridge at the Kenwo Bridge Club where she was a regular for more than 30 years. A champion bowler in her 20's Ann took up bowling again in her 80's and, competitor that she was, was unhappy if she scored less than her age. Mumsy was a smart and active woman for her whole life. Her relationship with our father taught us the meaning of true love. She loved us with all her heart and we loved her back. We will miss her very much. Our family thanks the staff and friends at Kings Riverside Court in Kentville and Annandale Rest Home in Wolfville for the love and support they gave to our mother and us in the years since our father died. A Memorial Service will be held at St. James Anglican Church in Kentville at 2:00 PM on Saturday the 2nd of March, 2013 with Reverend Cathy Pharo presiding and interment to follow. Memorial donations may be made in Ann's honour to the Valley Hospice Foundation, Wolfville, NS (902.365.1701 ext. 3471) Arrangements entrusted to H.C. Lindsay Funeral Homes and Serenity Crematorium, Wolfville, NS. Online condolences may be made via www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca or by sending to P.O. Box 355 Kentville, NS, B4N 3X1

I Love You Grams
You make me laugh when I am happy,
You make me safe when you are around,
Not any more from this day on,
But where you are safe up in Heaven,
I see you from my head and heart,
But not from my eyes any longer,
Wherever you are now,
You are always with me anywhere I go,
No more happiness from my family,
But you are always there for us in our hearts.
I Love You Grams
Love, Lauren XOXO
