BARRETT, NATHAN - Passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Scarborough General Hospital in his 85th year. Loving husband of Annie for the past 58 years. Cherished brother of Susie (Edward deceased), Gordon (deceased) (Gladys) and brother-in-law of Jennie (deceased) (Melvin deceased), Sadie (Jim deceased), Shirley (deceased) (Emmanuel), Sandra (Keith deceased), Randall (Carol) and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He worked at Christie's for 41 years and he will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives. The family will receive friends at the JERRETT FUNERAL HOME, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, 416-266-4404, on Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 11 a.m., cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the charity of one's choice.

SMITH, Sheila Frances

Resident of the George Hees wing at Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran's facility, passed away February 9, 2013. She was born February 20, 1920 to John and Brigid Breen (nee Hickey) in St. John's, Newfoundland. Sheila enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces on August 21, 1943 in St. John's, Newfoundland. Due to the U-boat threats, she was temporarily housed in St John's. In September she was transferred to Halifax and subsequently sent for basic training in Kitchener, Ontario. After basic training, Sheila moved to Ottawa for Army Procedures training, and then was posted to Montreal for administrative duties. A year later, she was assigned to Halifax to work in the medical and service corp. She received her discharge in February of 1946. While in Halifax, Sheila met her husband, Haydon, who was serving in the Royal Canadian Navy and they were married in Toronto on December 28, 1945. Sheila is preceded in death by her husband, Haydon D. Smith, and her seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters: Maura, Brenda Warner (Jim) and Martha; her grandchildren: Katherine (David), Elizabeth, Maeghan (Joe), Marta and Jonathan and great-granddaughter Frances. Our gratitude to all the staff of "L" Wing, third floor and special thanks to Eva and Nebiha, Sheila's personal caregivers. Visitation from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd., Toronto (east gate entrance off Mt. Pleasant Rd.). A family funeral will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans Care Program of Sunnybrook Hospital at https://sunnybrookgifts.donor portal.ca/c-16-veterans-care.aspx
