Leaving to mourn son Everett (Florence Buglar); daughters; Margaret Hammond (Thomas), Mary Burry (Gordon), Elizabeth Dwyer (William, deceased), Loretta Collins (Leonard); 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; special friend Carolann Ruby. Resting at her residence, 11 Loop Drive, Portugal Cove. Visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-10 pm; and Friday from 10 am - 12 noon. BARNES, Emily (nee Burrage) - Passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 24, 1998. Emily Barnes, aged 68 years. BEAULIEU, E. Delphine (nee Butler) - Born on Bell Island, NF, January 17, 1950, died at her home in Campbell River, BC on September 13, 1998. She is survived by her husband Gene; daughter Angela Sterritt; her step-daughters: Raelyn (Leigh) King, Nicole Sanderson and Charlene Sterritt (Rob Dahlke); three grandsons: Jared, Michael and Ben. She is also survived by seven sisters and three brothers: Margaret (Wally) Ryan, St. John's, NF, Douglas (Diane) Butler, Bell Island, NF, Louise (Richard) Chaffey, Corner Brook, NF, Frances (Bruce) Patey, St. Anthony, NF, John (Sheila) Butler, St. John's, NF, Barbara Alcock, False Creek, BC, Sheila (Harvey) Taylor, Grand Falls-Windsor, NF, Mary (Lorne) Audia, Nelson, BC, Hubert (Margaret) Butler, Windsor, ON, Audrey (Garry) Atkins, Truro, NS. She is also survived by aunts and uncles, especially her beloved Aunt Delphine Butler; as well as 29 nieces and nephews and numerous friends. She was predeceased by sister Rosamond, December 3, 1938; father Hubert Butler, February 12, 1974; and mother May (nee Bennett) Butler, July 28, 1994. Funeral Service will be held on September 19, 1998 at 1 p.m. in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Campbell River, with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, 855 West 12th Ave., Vancouver, BC or to your local Red Cross Branch as an expression of sympathy, this would be greatly appreciated by the family. BLUNDELL, Donald - Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, September 19, 1998, Donald Blundell of Foxtrap, aged 76 years. Predeceased by husband James, 1980 and granddaughter Faye, 1987. Predeceased by wife, Annie (Fowler) in 1991; daughter-in-law Patricia in 1994; brothers: Leonard, Michael, Matthew, Sam, Frank, Ben; and sister Viola; parents: Sam and Anastasia. Left to mourn his sad loss, six sons: Ben (Sandy), Harold (Anne), Clifton (Dorothy), Albert (Carol Ann), Adrian (Paulette), Leonard (Shirley); three daughters: Jean Gibbons (Don), Callista Didham (Hughie), Carmella Singleton (Brian); two sisters: Marie and Clotilda; one daughter-in-law Ella; 20 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends, especially his devoted caregivers and friends at Powers Guest Home. Predeceased by her husband Leonard in 1976 and son Wilfred in 1935. LEWIS, William J. - (Retired C.N. Employee), in his 61st year, of Avondale. With faith, love and great dignity, Bill entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 8th, 1998 at the Health Sciences Center, after a long and brave battle with Shy Drager Syndrome (Parkinsons). Predeceased by his son Bill, 1984; his sister Geraldine, 1984; and his father Con, 1993. Left with wonderful memories to cherish are his loving and caring wife, Julianne; his daughter Connie Lou (Jim) O'Leary; and his son Bob (Tracy); and his three precious little grandchildren: Brady and Brianna O'Leary and Robyn Lewis; his mother Mary Lewis; his brothers: James (Doreen), Paddy (Bon), Lar (friend Waneta); his sisters: Annie Devereaux, Jen (John) Kennedy, all of Avondale, Irene (Clayton) Rees, Oakville, Ontario; three brothers-in-law: Mick (Flor), Jim, and Len Doyle; and his sister-in-law Maizie Lewis; special family friend, F. MEANEY, Joe - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joe Meaney (formerly of Avondale) announce his passing at the Sir Thomas Roddickton Hospital in Stephenville on Tuesday, September 22, 1998 at the age of 64 years. Leaving to mourn with precious memories are his loving wife of 24 years, Bridget (nee Gushue); three brothers: Michael (Linda), Woodrow (Eileen) and Albert (Leona), all of Avondale; three sisters: Levina (Sam) Ezekiel of Harbour Main, Edna (Jim) Candow and Betty (Vince) Cromwell, all of St. John's; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. At Joe's request cremation has taken place at Russell's Crematorium in Stephenville with a prayer service at Russell's Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville on Thursday, September 24, 1998. SALTER, Madeline Mary - Of Kentville, died September 9, 1998 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Holyrood, C. Bay, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late William and Mary (Flynn) Byrne. Madeline attended school in Holyrood, Nfld. and graduated with honors. She then attended St. Bride's College, Littledale, Waterford Bridge Road, St. John's. Upon graduation from St. Bride's she was hired as a legal secretary for the Provincial Department of Justice, Criminql Division. She worked as a secretary for the Associate Deputy Ministers of Justice for 30 years of broken service. in 1964 she met her future husband at the Department of Justice and they were married on June 18, 1966. They remained in St. John's until 1970 and were then transferred to Burin Detachment, two years later to Clarenville and finally in 1979 they returned to St. John's, Nfld. Madeline was secretary to the Administrator of the New Unified Family Court for two years, located on Kings Bridge Road, St. John's. One year later she returned to the Department of Justice, Civil Division working as a secretary for the Associate Deputy Minister of Justice. Madeline stated after her retirement, she had worked with the most talented and dedicated lawyers, secretaries, clerks and Heads of other Government Departments one could work with. She felt privileged to work indirectly during the time of Mr. Ed Roberts who was the Minister of Justice for the province of Nfld. and Labrador. She was a member of the Valley Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Fund Raising Committee for two years. She belonged to the Kentville Gyrates, the R.C.M.P. Ladies Auxiliary, Halifax, the Glengarry Golf Course and the Kentville Recreation Club. She enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, traveling in Nova Scotia and the New England States. She will be sadly missed by her husband, two children and friends. Surviving are her husband, Frank M. Salter, formerly of Pictou, NS, retired RCMP, NCO, Kentville, NS; daughter Arlene, St. John's; and son, David, Halifax; sisters: Theresa Dahle, Patsy Myette, Holyrood, Nfld.; brothers: William Byrne and Peter Byrne, Holyrood, Nfld.; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 11, 1998 at the H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville. Funeral Service to be held from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Kentville. Reverend Father Albeni d'Entremont officiating. Interment in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Kentville. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, Holyrood at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 18, 1998.
