Passed peacefully away at the Intensive Care Unit, Health Sciences Center, on Thursday, September 7th, 2000, Reginald (Rex) Abbott, formerly of Bonavista, after a lengthy illness. Predeceased by his parents; Isabella and Samson Abbott; mother and father-in-law; Hedley and Mary Antle; five brothers and four sisters. Leaving to mourn with fond memories, his loving wife Violet; special son Nelson; brother Edmund (Doris), Bonavista; sisters; Amelia Durdle, Gertrude and Vivian Abbott, all of Bonavista; sister-in-law Alice Abbott, Gander; brother-in-law Harvey Antle; sisters-in-law; Rita, Irene, Sally (George), Phyllis, Rev. Florence (Paul); special sister-in-law Evelyn (Lloyd); special nephews; Edmund and Cyril Durdle; special niece Nola; other nieces and nephews; special aunts; Doris Griffin and Julie Vokey, Markland; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at her late residence, Clarke's Beach, on Monday, September 25th, 2000, in her 78th year. Leaving to mourn her husband Clifton; two daughters; Shirley (David) Sparkes, Georgetown, Lillian (Bill) Yocum, Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren; David (Carrie), Sheldon, Jody (Keith), Jamie (Glenda), Scott (Jackie), Todd; six great-grandchildren; also one brother Norman (Bernice) Clarke; four sisters; Grace Mason, Rita (George) Anthony, Bertha (Bill) Dawe, Ruth Mitchell; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Baggs, Olga Winsor
We announce with sadness the passing of our dearest devoted mother, grandmother and friend, Olga Winsor Baggs, who passed peacefully away on Thursday, September 28th, 2000 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Predeceased by her husband, Walter G. Baggs (retired R.C.M.P. Officer). Lovingly remembered by her daughter Daphne and son Derek; grandchildren; Derrick and Scott Stone, Jackie, Coleen and Debbie Baggs; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, September 19, 2000, Joseph Edward "Joe" Baldwin, formerly of Victoria, NF., in his 81st year. Predeceased by parents; Stephen and Susanne; brother Harry; sister Minnie. Passed away, as a result of a tragic accident, on September 5th, 2000, Richard Edward Barrett, aged 24 years. Leaving to mourn his daughter Jessica and her mother Michelle; his fiancée Kim Hunt; mother Barbara Morris; sister Alison Barrett; father Chris Barrett; step-father George Morris; also a number of other relatives and friends. Passed away September 27th, 2000, age 71. at Montreal, after a short illness. Predeceased by parents Charles and Daisy; sister Ruby; brothers; Edwin and Owen. Leaving to mourn brothers; Calvin (Margaret), Montreal, Charles Jr., (Dora), Gambo, Max (Phyllis), St. John's; sister Helen (Andrew Grandy), Kelligrews; brother-in-law; Thomas Pearce, Kelligrews; and a large number of nephews and nieces. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, in Renews, on September 25th, 2000, age 87 years. Predeceased by her husband John Will Brazil in 1987 and her son-in-law James Kenny, 2000. Leaving to mourn her six loving children; Mary Kenny, Anna Trainor (Dennis), Phyllis Brown (Frank), John Brazil (Gloria), Martin Brazil (Josephine), Tom Brazil (Clo); her sister Mary Power and sisters-in-law Stella Johnson (Peter), Irene Brazil, also leaving to mourn 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; special friends and homecare worker Carol Ann Cose and a large circle of nieces and nephews. Remains resting at Fahey's Funeral Home, Fermeuse. Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander, on September 27th, 2000, Kathleen May Brett in her 80th year. Predeceased by husband Mark, 1991. Left with loving memories are sons; Sterling and wife Joyce of Benton, Merle and wife Theresa of St. Anthony, David and wife Marjorie of Gander, Kevin and wife Peggy of Halifax; daughters; Judy and husband David Mercer of Grand Falls, Sybil and husband Ed Carberry of Gander, Carol Brett and John Skynner of Ottawa; 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Broders, Christina (nee Butt)
Died September 19th, 2000 in the presence of family and caregivers at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, Christina Broders, age 86. Predeceased by husband Mark Mahoney 1944, and Dominic Broders 1985. Will be missed by daughters Bridget Foley (Donald), Ellen Bozak (Peter), Theresa Penton (Brendan), Marion Foley (Edwin), Loretta Ryan (Patrick), and only son Dominic Broders (Marguerite), also brother Clarence Butt and sister Loretta Bryan, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, special aunt Annie Lynch, and her many relatives and friends. She will be waked at Keat's Funeral Home on Fogo Island and buried at Tilting, Fogo Island.

Passed away on Thursday, September 14th, 2000, at Masonic Park Nursing Home, Lloyd James Bursey, aged 92 years. Predeceased by his wife Molly. Leaving to mourn daughter Heather (Paul) Archambault, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia; sisters; Marjorie (Madge) Bursey, Phyllis (Edwin Press), Joan (George) Marshall; brother Ladd (Theresa) Bursey; granddaughters; Carolyn Ann (Eric) Rousseau, Bromont, Quebec, Leanne Bangay, Mississauga, Ontario; great-grandchildren; Noah Rousseau and Blaze Bangay. Passed peacefully away on Friday, September 8, 2000, while visiting Cape Breton, William Joseph Caul in his 69th year, former Metrobus Driver. Left to mourn with loving and fond memories his very dear friend and special caregiver Margaret Wolfe and her very loving family, who Bill thought very highly of. Also, his seven children; Dennis (Mary), Steve (Brenda) Elizabeth Hammond (Mike Mullins), Hector (Rose), Linda, Debbie Harding (Derek) and Robert; and their mother Theresa; 18 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. 78, Mulgrave, Guysborough Co., died Saturday, September 9th, 2000, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in St. Ann's, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late James and Bridget (Miller) Collins. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave. He was a retired fisherman employed by National Sea Products, Canso, retiring as a mate on the Canso Trawlers. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his two little dogs. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 68-Husband of the late Mabel (Coffin) Holwell (1988) of Madison Avenue, Moncton. Passed away at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, September 5th, 2000, following a sudden illness. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Harry was the son of the late Frederick and Ethel (Sooley) Holwell.
Harry was a Registered Industrial Accountant, retired from Marine Atlantic in 1990. He and his family moved to Moncton in 1965 with CN Rail. He attended St. James Anglican Church and was an active member of the community including the following; CN Supervisors Assoc., CN Pensioners Assoc., The Society of Management Accountants, (Registered Industrial Accountant), The Moncton Probus Club, Karing Kitchen Board of Directors, Bicentennial Skating Club, Capital Theatre Volunteer and the Hub City Dancers.

Born at St. John's, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of Philip and Julie Dwyer. Wife of the late James McCormack. Mother of Jack and Joan McCormack, Tweed; Shirley and Jerry Mercer, St. John's, Newfoundland, Carol and Bunk Hewitt, Marmora, ON, and Ed and Sally McCormack, London, and the late Doug and Shirley McCormack. Grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of 94. Sister of Jane King and Mea Wilson, Newfoundland and the late Margaret Mutford, Gertrude Taylor, Jack Dwyer and George Dwyer, all of Newfoundland. Mildred married James McCormack in 1928 in St. John's, Newfoundland, where they lived with their five children. Carol and Ed were the two youngest children living at home when Mildred and James moved to London, ON, in the fall of 1950. In 1959 James passed away at Westminister Veterans' Hospital. In 1972 Mildred decided to move to Marmora, ON, to live with her daughter Carol and son-in-law Bunk. Mildred made over 200 quilts which were given away as gifts. Some were sent to London, ON, to the Salvation Army auction. Mildred loved music and spent many a Sunday afternoon with grandchildren listening to records. In the 48 years that Mildred lived in Ontario she travelled back to her beloved St. John's, Newfoundland, at least 56 times. Funeral Service was held at McConnell Funeral Home, Marmora on September 27th, 2000 with Captain Alf Greening of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment was in Mont Nebo Cemetery, Springbrook. She was predeceased by her parents James and Elizabeth (Walsh) Mahon and a brother Aloysius. We say goodbye to a warm and loving friend, who always thought of others before herself. Predeceased by our Dad (Leslie) in 1992; son Gordon 1958; sister Violet (Oldford) Lethbridge 1989; brothers; Hubert Oldford 1980 and Frank Oldford 1998. WALSH, Patricia (Peddle) - (53). Born September 1st, 1946 on Bell Island. Passed away peacefully at the home of her son in Buena Park, California, Wednesday, August 23, 2000. Patricia is survived by her husband of 31 years, Peter; sons: Paul, Leo, Terry; and daughter Susie; as well as grandchildren: Cayla, Heather, Brittany, Michael, Connor, Anthony and Jonnie; brothers: Ron, Bernard; and sister Genevieve. In lieu of sympathies, everyone who knew and loved her should put on some Irish music, enjoy a beef steak and kidney pie, a Vo7, and a game of Scat.
