Battcock, John C.
From - The Evening Telegram, St. John's, Nfld, May 1997
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Sunday, May 18th, 1997, John C. Battcock, in his 71st year. Predeceased by his son-in-law Andre Juteau, September 1996; also his parents: Bride and Clement Battcock; and brother; Michael of Brigus South. Leaving to mourn with fond memories, his wife Helen (Walsh): daughter, Joanne Juteau; sons, Terry, Brian, John and Donald (Janet)`three loving grandsons, Daniel Juteau, Mark and Nicholas Battcock; special friends, Michelle Juteau, Francis and Eleanor Ryan, also brothers; Len (Millie), James (Phyllis) and Tom (Betty); sisters Lucy Melvin, Annie Reardon, Hannah Tracey (Mike), Fedelis Walsh (Louie), and Nellie O`Brien (Michael). Sister-in-law Jean Hanlon (Julien), and brother-in-law Mike Walsh (Eileen). Resting at Carnells Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 noon – 5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday from St. Pius Tenth Parish with interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.

Boone, Peter R.
Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Thursday, May 8th, 1997, age 54 years. Predeceased by his parents, Peter and Eleanor. Leaving to mourn his wife Alice (nee Hannaford); daughter Donna, Mrs. David Chafe; son Gerry, wife Tammy; two grandsons; David Chafe and Brett Boone; four brothers; John, wife Marjory, Albert, wife Margaret, Jim, wife Margie and Ed; step-father Bill Chafe; two brothers-in-law; Ed and John and families; five sisters-in-law; Francis, Nonie, Catherine, Angela, and Marion and families; also many other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home. Funeral on Monday, May 12th, 1997 at the Basilica for Mass at 9:30 am.. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, flowers or donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Croft, Matilda
From - The Telegram, St. John's, Newfoundland. Abt May 18, 1997
Passed peacefully away at the St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, May 17, 1997, aged 78 years. Predeceased by her husband Charles (1973), son Clifford (1992) and son-in-law Jack Lundrigan (1997). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories six sons; Peter (Stella), Donald (Louise), Clarence (Marilyn), Keiran (Ann), Allan (Shirley), Reg (Glenda): seven daughters: Catherine, Patricia (Dave Curtis), Stella (Friend Bill), Ethel (Ted O`Toole), Marion (Junior Power), Evangeline (Gary Smith) and Ann (Clayton Carter): 30 grand children and 2 great grand children; sister, Mary O`Neill. Also a large number of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Faheys Funeral Home, Fermeuse, on Sunday, May 18 from 6-10 p.m. and Monday May 19 from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral notice later.

O’Brien, Sister Mary Carmella, R.S.M.
From - The Evening Telegram, St. John's, Nfld. Abt. May 8, 1997
Passed peacefully away at McAuley Convent, St. John’s, May 7, 1997, aged 89 years. Predeceased by her brother Ronald, January 1997. Leaving to mourn, besides the Sister of Mercy, two sisters: Miss Clotilda O’Brien, Cape Broyle, Mrs. Evelyn Schaffer, Juneau, Alaska; a special sister-in-law, Margaret O’Brien; brother-in-law Kenneth Schaffer; as well as a large number of nieces and nephews, Resting at McAuley Convent, 250 Waterford Bridge Road. Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church Friday, May 9th at 2:00. Internment in Belvedere Cemetery, Bonaventure Avenue, St. John’s.
