Passed suddenly away at her cabin on Woody Island, Placentia Bay, on Monday, July 13th, 1998, Marie Butler, Foxtrap, age 59 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her devoted husband Joe; two sons; Craig and Kirk (Ruby); four precious grandchildren; Mark, Mitch, Krista and Holly; mother-in-law Susie Butler, Kelligrews; also many other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away on Thursday, July 16th, 1998, at Agnes Pratt Nursing home, St. John’s, age 77 years. Predeceased by his mother Agnes and father Frederick; and two brothers; Jack and Leo. Leaving to mourn with very fond memories, wife Lillian (nee Ezekiel); son Frank Jr., (fiancée Linda); grandson Francis Joseph (Joey); granddaughter Renee and her daughter Maggie; three brothers; Edward (Olive), Gerald (Beatrice), Fred (Theresa); two sisters; Ellen Gentry, Carmelita Richards (Michael); a large number of nieces, nephews and special friends. (Retired Teacher-Bishop Field College)- Passed peacefully away at the Grace General Hospital on Friday, July 19, 1998, Eric Caines of Mount Pearl, aged 88 years. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 57 years, Ellen (nee Richards); son David with whom he resided; daughters; Elizabeth Chiaramonte (Louis), Portugal Cove, Eleanor Lynch (Ron), Bay Roberts, Judith Smith (Derek) Bareneed and Ethel Walsh (Mike), St. John's. Beloved grandchildren; David Caines Jr., Luigi, and Marco Chiaramonte, Vikki and David Lynch, Krista and Jonathon Walsh. Also leaving to mourn brother Robert Caines and sister May Caines, both of Norris Point; other relatives and friends. COADY, Joseph Gerard - 33 years. passed tragically away in the presence of his loved ones on Thursday, July 9, 1998 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's, Joseph Coady, formerly of Dunville and had been living in Upper Gullies. Joseph is predeceased by his father Thomas Coady (1981) and his mother Elizabeth Coady (Fewer) (1995). Leaving to mourn with many treasured memories are his sisters: Mary (Bob) Parsons, Rocky Harbour, Donna (Gary) Cook, Lower Sackville, Regina (Alf Power), St. John's and Betty (Joe) Kelly, Dunville; his devoted foster parents Beverly and Bernard Dalton of Upper Gullies; foster brothers: Raymond and Jeffery Dalton; special friends, grandmother Bridget Roberts and Randy Evans, and most special caregiver and friend Jackie Casey; nieces and nephews: Brian, Amanda, Colin, Katie, Coady, Jessica, Bradley, Joey and Brady, as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Passed away on July 24, 1998 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Loretta Collins, age 59 years of Placentia. COSTELLO, William - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on July 25, 1998, Bill Costello of Conception Harbour, age 66 years. Predeceased by his wife Peg (July 1,1996). CRANFORD, Georgina (George) (nee Whitten) - Formerly of St. John's, but resided in Upper Gullies. It is with great sadness and regret that we have to announce that our precious loved one, after she was handed the hardest battle of her life, to deal with cancer, has lost. God closed her eyes to suffer no more, on her birthday, Wednesday, July 8th, 1998 - at her home. She has joined her parents: Gordon and Agnes Whitten. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Eric Cox of Goulds, announce his passing on Thursday, July 16th, 1998, in his 66th year, after a short battle with cancer, retired employee of Molson Brewery. Predeceased by her parents: Moses and Elizabeth Gosse; brothers: William, Moses, Richard and Martin; sisters: Lenora Squires and Edith Tricco. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of loving memories, a special niece Effie and husband Ernest Deering with whom she resided and their family Glenys (husband Mitchell Moran), David (wife Linda) and their sons Mark and Joshua. Also leaving to mourn brothers: Charlie (wife Mary), Bertram (wife Lillian); sister Sarah Drover; sisters-in-law: Connie Gosse and Marjorie Gosse. Martin, Eliza (nee Taylor)
Passed peacefully away, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, July 20th, 1998, Mrs. Eliza Martin of Heart’s Content, aged 68 years. Leaving to mourn husband Eric, Heart’s Content; daughter Judy Chislett (David), St. John’s, one grandson Jason; one brother Benjamin Taylor (Susie), Cupids; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. At Mrs. Martin’s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, July 23rd, 1998 at 2 pm from St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Clinic or St. Mary’s Anglican Church Memorial Fund. A special thanks to Dr. Sullivan. Jackman Memorial Hospital, in Labrador City, NF, David (Dave) McLean, in his 69th year, formerly of Bell Island, NF. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 48 years Florence (Tremblett); sons: Paul (Beth), Labrador City, NF, Barry (Marion), Labrador City, NF, David (Patsy), Cambridge, Ont., Jerry (Fiona), Cambridge, Ont, and daughters: Jean (Ed), Dartmouth, N.S., Christine (Bob), Labrador City, NF, Beverly (Bob), Brampton, Ont. and Ramona (Fred), Labrador City, NF. Passed away suddenly at his home in Portugal Cove on Monday, July 20, 1998, Alexander Peddle, aged 74 years. Predeceased by his wife Belinda Louise, daughter-in-law Kelly and brother Tom. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories, his daughters; Linda Clouston (Grant) with whom he resided and Rosalind Clarke (Randell), Bell Island; sons; Ambrose (Judy) and Don, both of Portugal Cove; 11 beloved grandchildren and 4 cherished great-grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn his brothers; Roland Smith, Nathan (Laura) Smith and William (Una) Smith; sister-in-law Myrtle Smith; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and Thursday from 10 am - 12 noon. Funeral Service to take place on Thursday, July 23, 1998 at 2 pm from Memorial United Church, Portugal Cove with interment to follow at the United Cemetery, Bauline Line. No flowers by request. Sandra Tilley (Frank); and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his father Allan; and infant sister Myra.
