John Collins in his 61st year, passed peacefully away at

Cram, Doris (nee Mercer)
On July 28th, 2000 in Fredericton,
New Brunswick, the death occurred of Doris (Mercer) Cramm,
widow of the late Herbert Cramm of Newfoundland. Doris Cramm
was born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland and was the daughter of
Capt. Isaac Mercer and his wife Maud. She was educated at Bishop
Spencer College in St. John's and later graduated from Mount
Allison University with a B.A. degree. Her teaching career involved
Newfoundland schools in Brigus, St. John's and Gander, also St.
Helen's School for Gils in Dunham, Quebec. She became Principal
of Bishop Spencer College in St. John's and later was Headmistress
of Netherwood School in Rothesay, New Brunswick. Upon her retirement,
she settled in Fredericton. Throughout her life, she was always
interested in the progress and activities of young people, this
interest led to her serving as President of the YMCA in St. John's
and her long involvement with the Girl Guide movement.
She is survived by two daughters; Gaye (Walter) Jones, Edmonton,
Alberta and grandchildren David, Heather (Michael) and Megan
and great-grandchildren Alec and Erin; and Doreen (Bill) Leonard
of Fredericton, New Brunswick and grandchildren Bill and Peter.
Funeral Services are in the care of Carnell's Funeral Home, St.
John's. A Graveside Service will take place at the United Church
Cemetery, Small Point (Broad Cove), Newfoundland on Wednesday,

Crawford, Andrew Anderson
Died at peace in St. John's on July 18th,
2000, in his 90th year. Andrew was born in
Greenock, Scotland and worked there as a marine surveyor with
Lloyd's Registry of Shipping, as well as in Australia and Montreal,
and in St. John's, where he spent the last thirty years. He will
be long remembered by his three children; Jean (Twiner), Markham,
Douglas, Vancouver and Anne (Major), St. John's; their spouses;
Donald, Els and Kevin and grandchildren; Jennifer, Alison, Sandra,
Ewen, Rianne, Luke and Duncan. Special appreciation is extended
to all his care-givers during his illness, especially the staff
of 6 East at St. Clare's Hospital and the transitional unit at
Escasoni. A private Funeral has taken place.

in nursing homes. She formerly owned and operated Ann's A-1
Taxi, Grand Bank, Newfoundland. She is survived by a daughter,
Donna (Eric), McGrath's Cove; son Dennis (Rosalyn), Armdale;
sister Sarah (Mrs. William Elliott), Rexdale, Ontario; 3 grandchildren;
Chris, Colin and Jacob. She was predeceased by her husband

Hodder, Wilson
Eastern Passage, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia. Born a Newfoundlander
on January 26th, 1949 and died a Canadian on July
4th, 2000. Wilson was surrounded by family
and friends at the time of his death. He was the son of the late
Charles E. and Annie (Bailey) Hodder of Ireland's Eye, Newfoundland.
As a teenager Wilson was very much involved in his community
serving as the president of the Youth Club of Trinity, Newfoundland.
At the age of 19 he left home and was employed by various marine
companies until 1970 when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy.
Upon leaving the Navy in 1979 he joined the Bedford Institute
of Oceanography for a number of years. Later he was employed
with Metropolitan Life. He became involved in property management,
forming his own company. Wilson retired in 1994 due to deteriorating
health brought on by Human Immunodeficiency Virus. He became
involved in the HIV/AIDS movement in the early 1980's, first
as a volunteer and later serving on various boards and committees
locally and nationally. In 1988 he was actively involved with
others in founding the Nova Scotia Person with AIDS Coalition,
assuming the responsibility of chairperson of the Board in 1991.
Wilson continued to serve in that position until the PWA Coalition
merged with AIDS Nova Scotia to become THE AIDS Coalition of
Nova Scotia. He served this new organization as founding chairperson
until 1999. He was still serving as a Board member at the time
of his death. Wilson served four years on the board of Canadian
AIDS Society (CAS) . This gave him the recipient of the Year
2000 CAS Leadership Award. Wilson was also a Vice-President of
the names Project (AIDS Quilt) Canada. Wilson was a steadfast
fighter for human rights for all. He was especially passionate
in his struggle for equality for gay men and lesbians. He was
a member of the Gay and Lesbian Association of Nova Scotia and
served a term as their president. Among the many awards and recognitions
that Wilson has received the latest was the Halifax Regional
Municipality's 250th Anniversary Medal. He was a Member
of the Canadian Club of Halifax and the Tightrope Brotherhood
just to name a couple of his many associations. Wilson was predeceased
by his parents and his life partner Terry Martin. He is survived
by brothers; Clyde Hodder and family of St. John's, Harvey Bailey
and family of Harbour Grace and his step-mother Marjorie Hodder
of Clarenville, all in Newfoundland. In Nova Scotia he is survived
by Terry's mother Marie Martin, Terry's son Darren and Terry's
and Wilson's grandson Garrett Martin, all of Lower Sackville.
Before his death Wilson indicated that wanted to thank all his
friends and medical professionals who cared for him; especially,
the staff at the Victoria General Hospital Day Unit and the Acute
Home Care Nurses at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Cremation
has taken place. A Celebration of Wilson's life will be held
in St. John's United Church, 2570 Windsor Street, Halifax on
Saturday, July 8th, 2000 at 8 p.m. The Rev. Roy Ellis
and the Rev. Louis Caissie will preside. Arrangements are entrusted
to Dartmouth Funeral Home, 29 Queen Street. No flowers, please.

Houlihan, Neitha (Anita) Beatrice
Born in Brigus, NL, November 26th, 1927.
Passed away peacefully on July 23rd, 2000 in Surrey,
BC.. She is lovingly remembered by her sons; Brendan, Edward
(Kathy), Jack (Carol), Adrian, Jim (Paula), Mike, Brian (Shawn);
and her daughters; Andrea (Mike), Elaine (Steve), Sharon (Lambert),
Yvonne (Marcel), Karen (Les), Debbie (John), Renee (Troy); 21
grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; 8 brothers and sisters

by her husband Brendan in 1989. Mass of Christian Burial was

8th, 2000 at Holy Rosary Parish in Freshwater, NL.,
to celebrate Neitha's life. Her ashes will be laid to rest at
the Old Cemetery in Placentia, followed by a reception at the

Passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's,
on Saturday, July 22nd, 2000, Mr. Alvin
Weston Davis Snow of Clarke's Beach, aged 50 years.
Predeceased by his parents Harold and Myrtle Snow. As a youthful
businessman in the Conception Bay North area, Alvin worked
with his parents and brothers in their family meat business
and in recent years was a valued member of the meat processing
department, Atlantic Grocery Distributors, Bay Roberts. At
his untimely passing, Alvin was Worshipful Master-Bartholomew
Loyal Orange Lodge #40, Deputy Preceptor-Wandsworth Royal Black
Preceptory #1250, both of Clarke's Beach, and was instrumental
in the reestablishment to the Orange Young Britons, Charing
Cross #146, of which his son Christopher is Worshipful Master.
Leaving with treasured memories, his wife Nina, with whom he
would have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary
on July 26th, 2000, now the day of his Funeral.

Patricia Marie Wight, of the 900 Block of Old Cutler,
died July 8th, 2000, surrounded by
family, after courageously enduring an 11 year battle with cancer.
She was born Patricia Marie O'Keefe in Harbour Garce, Newfoundland,
Canada, one of 10 children to William Laurence and Mary Agnes
O'Keefe. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. She was
predeceased by her husband Leroy D. Wight, her parents and two
sisters; Marcella O'Keefe and Agnes O'Keefe. She leaves to mourn
her only son; Gary Michael Wight, his wife, Amy; two step-children;
Lynn Wight and Steven Wight and Steven's wife, Lancia, and their
daughter, Aspen. She also leaves to mourn her brother; Larry
O'Keefe; sisters; Isabel Birkland, Margaret Nolette, Anne Kearney,
Bernadette Bird, Loretta Pentzer, Mary Mondou; her brother-in-law;
Marcel Mondou; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also
leaves behind her cherished dogs, Kai and Aspen. Patricia managed
the Navy Marine Golf Course outside Pearl Harbour in Honolulu,
Hawaii, for over 15 years. She later was the cook and owner of
a successful luncheon spot, known as The Sandwich Board, in the
Pembroke area of Virginia Beach. Patricia was a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church. Patricia exhibited a type of kindness
and selflessness that could not help but impact the lives of
everyone she knew. Patricia was an inspiration to everyone who
knew her and will be remembered always with love, the wishes
of Patricia were to have her remains cremated. The family will
receive friends from 7-9 pm., today at H.D. Oliver.
