Predeceased by her husband Michael J. Adams (1991); father, Thomas Hawco (1949); mother Bertha Hawco (nee Trahey) (1970); son Bernie Adams (1960); grandson Richard (Rick) Adams (1990). Predeceased by her mother, father and all brothers and sisters and her husband Frank in 1998. Leaving to mourn with fond memories son Frank Jr. (fiancee Linda Gosse); granddaughter Renee and her daughter Maggie; grandson Francis Joseph (Joey); sisters-in-law: Isabelle Ezekiel, Bell Island, Babe Ezekiel, Ontario. Also a large number of family and friends especially Mary Gosse, Marg Somerton and Jean Lahey; special niece Isabella Walsh; special nephew Neil Hamilton. Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Escasoni Complex on Friday, January 8, 1999, aged 80 years, of Portugal Cove South. Predeceased by her parents Alfred and Catherine Coombs and brothers Daniel, Brendan and Ronald. Leaving to mourn one brother Leo (Doris) at Portugal Cove South; two sisters; Theresa (Mrs. Leo O'Neill) and Nora (Mrs. Thomas Hartery), Portugal Cove South; 23 nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Fahey's Funeral Home in Trepassey. Funeral on Monday, January 11, 1999 at 10 am from Holy Redeemer Church, Trepassey. DAVIS, Irene Mary - Passed peacefully away on Sunday, January 31, 1999 at Murphy's Shady Rest Lodge in St. Philip's, Mary Davis, age 61 years. Mary was born to Harold and Naomi (Squires) Davis on December 14, 1937 on Bell Island, Conception Bay. She grew up in a family of fourteen, including her mother and father. Early in life Mary had paralysis and never completely recovered, as a result she was dependent on family for some of the necessities of living. Mary never lacked attention and was dearly loved by her family and friends and all who knew her. With the death of her mother, Mary made a new home at Murphy's Shady Rest Lodge in St. Philip's where she found encouragement, compassion and love from Mrs. Murphy and staff and the many friends she made during her 25 years stay there. Mary was predeceased by her parents; two brothers Boyd and Lloyd. She will be loving remembered by sisters: Marie Davis, Jean (Bruce) Rockwell both of Fort MacMurray; Marjorie (Berny) Kolbman, Niagara Falls, NY; Patricia Mahoney, Caribou, Maine; Isabel (Michael) Gregorash, Neepawa, Manitoba and brothers: Rupert (Isabel), Eric (Linda) of Cambridge, Ontario; Carman, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Harold (Lynn), Halifax, NS; also, one aunt Ada Carrol, Bell Island; one uncle Leslie Davis, Cambridge, Ontario; numerous nephews and nieces, which were very special to Mary; also, a special "mom" Cavelle Murphy, her family, the staff and many friends at the Lodge. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Predeceased by husband Ernest, 1973; sisters; Susie Greeley, Maria Hibbs; brothers; Jim, Bill and Charlie Churchill. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, five sons; Hubert (Monya), Portugal Cove, Carlson (Sharon), St. John's, Ronald (Lottie), St. John's, Ernest (Geraldine), Portugal Cove and Douglas (Cathy), Portugal Cove; brothers; Ambrose (Flo) Churchill and Eldred (Joyce), Portugal Cove; sisters; Florie Mogan, Kelligrews, Janie Churchill, Portugal Cove; sister-in-law Hazel Churchill, Portugal Cove. Fitzgerald, in her 85th year, of Seal Cove. Predeceased by her husband Frederick (Nov. 28, 1974) and her son, Paul (May 10, 1983). Left with fond memories are her sons: Frederick (Margie), St. Georges, Keith (Margie), Bay Roberts; her daughters: Patricia (Germain) Beriault, Montreal, Janet (Brendan) Power, Clarenville, Sharron (Richard) Selent, Kelligrews, Heather (Bob) Byrnes, Stephenville; 16 cherished grandchildren and 6 precious great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Alex, St. John's; and four sisters: Sheila Whalen, St. John's, Jean Menu, British Columbia, Stella (Dan) Hyder, North Carolina, Helen (Cyril) Crocker, St. John's; and one sister-in-law, Nellie Foster, St. John's; also a circle of other relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn Hilda, his devoted wife of 51 years; daughter Elaine Hammond (Martin J.), St. John's, grandson Sean and granddaughter Lynn; son Lorne John (Audrey nee Thorne), Sarnia, ON, granddaughters; Cheryl and Sheila; three sisters; Jean Pollett (Roy), New Harbour, Leah Hedley (Ronald), Ashcroft, BC., Rita Cranford (Gerald), New Harbour; also lovingly remembered by nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Williams, Willis Maxwell
Age 59, at Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital , after suffering a heart attack at his home in Arnold's Cove. Willis began a 33 year teaching career in West Point, La Poile Bay, where he met and married Lydia McDermott. She predeceased him in April 1996. Willis dearly loved his cabin on Woody Island where he spent many a summer surrounded by his relatives in nearby cabins, where he always enjoyed company and having a good yarn. He is known for his wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives and by Matida Lockyer, his friend and companion. Leaving to mourn his sudden passing, daughters; Debbie, husband Terry Harvey, C.B.S., Brenda, Victoria, British Columbia; his sister Mildred, Portugal Cove and Derrick; brother-in-law, Henry, wife Ruth, Ontario; dear friends; Eric Reid, Port-aux-Basques, Perce and Violet Taylor, Port-aux-Basques, Ricky and Stan, Don and Ralph Pardy, Wilson and Ann, Baxter, Barry, Kev, Wayne and families, all of whom her loved to see visiting.
