BEEHAN, James P.
Passed peacefully away, after a brief illness, at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, N.S. January 31, 1997, aged forty-nine years. Predeceased by his beloved mother, Mary (Cowley), Leaving to mourn, Karen and their loving children: Stephen, Jennifer, Shane, Jessica of Dartmouth; Father Edward Beehan; sisters: Marilyn (Allen) Wright, Marguerite (Robert) Peddigrew, Patricia (Fred) Hawksley, Louise (Paul) Skirving; special aunt Mary Kearney; nine nephews; three nieces, all of St. John's; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road upon arrival from Halifax. Visitation hours 12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 1997. Funeral Mass Wednesday, February 5, 1997 at 9:30 a.m. Mary Queen of the World, Topsail Rd. Interment to follow at Belvedere Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to a charity of one's choice.

CAUL, Mary Sarah (nee Seward)
Passed peacefully away at the Grace Hospital on Friday, January 17, 1997, after a brief illness, Mrs. Mary Caul of St. John's, in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband Patrick. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, four daughters: Joan Dunn, Ottawa, Patricia Whittle (Kevin), Brenda Caul and Margaret Caul; one son Bernard Caul (Marilyn) all of St. John's; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Margaret Meaney (Tom) of Mount Pearl and one brother Cyril; sister-in-law Margaret Seward and one step-sister Mrs. Mary Smith of Gooseberry Cove, Trinity Bay; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 20, 1997 at 9:30 a.m. from Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Torbay Road. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

HICKEY, Jack
Passed peacefully away at his residence in Outer Cove on Thursday, January 30, 1997 Jack Hickey, 70 years of age. Predeceased by brother Martin (1988). Left with fond and loving memories, his wife Florence; five daughters: Maria Aitchison (Bill), Iowa, U.S.A., Colleen Jack (Donald), Newton, Ont., Jean Dmytryk (David), Ottawa, Ont., Margo Haijar (George), Ottawa, Ont., Jacqueline Kendell (Marty), Guelph, Ont.; three sons: Paul (Nancy), John (Lynda), Peterborough, Ont., Andrew (Denise), Outer Cove; eight sisters: Bride Kean, Saint John, N.B., Teresa Janssens, London, Ont., Mary, Vancouver, B.C., Magdalene Watts (Peter), Vancouver, B.C., Josephine McCorquodale (Ray), Mississauga, Ont., Katherine "Kal" Lynch (Cyril), Outer Cove, Maggie Cadigan (Joe), Logy Bay, Sister Anne, Presentation Congregation; four brothers: Bill (Mary), Outer Cove, Dave (Josephine), Outer Cove, Mike (Lynn), Outer Cove, Paddy, Gander; sister-in-law Josephine Hickey; 17 grandchildren; and also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10-12 noon, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, February 3, 1997 from St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Outer Cove at 10:30 a.m. Interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Outer Cove.

Somerton, Charles
WW11 Veteran of the Royal Navy

Passed peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 12th, 1997 of Portugal Cove at the age of 81. Left to mourn his wife Bertha, son Walter (Donna), Mount Pearl, grandsons, Jeffrey (Sonya), Gregory and Christopher, one great-granddaughter Meghan. Also leaving to mourn sister Hilda Abbott (Eric), of Portugal Cove, sister in law Beatrice Somerton, Portugal Cove. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home.
Funeral January 15th, 1997 at 2 pm from St. Lawrence Anglican Church, Portugal Cove. Interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Portugal Cove.
