Leaving to mourn daughters: Jo-Ann (Ron LeDrew), Sheila (Wayne Courish); sons: Douglas and John (Roberts); seven loving grandchildren: Ron (Raylene), Christopher and Andrew LeDrew, Shaun and Michelle Courish, Matthew and Kathleen Congdon; and two great-grandchildren: Scott and Samuel LeDrew; also one loving sister Margaret (Fred) Whitten, Fredericton, N.B.; and brother Pat Furlong, St. John's; her sisters-in-law: Loretta Furlong, Genevieve Mahoney, Eva Congdon, Carm Furlong; brother-in-law: Patrick (Frances) Congdon, Ontario. Passed away in the presence of all his family, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer, at 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 5, 1999, John Joseph Cooney, aged 77, retired from CNR in 1983 ad served with the Royal Navy in World War II. Leaving to mourn with broken hearts and cherished memories his loving wife, Margaret (nee Barrington), nine children: David Keith (Shirl), Donna Connolly (Don), John (Shelley Edison), Sharon Hunt (John Connolly), Mary Nelson (Jim), Craig, Janet Ward (Reg), Venita Murphy (Jim) and Robin Fewer (Cec); 17 grandchildren: Keith (Janet), Cory, Danielle, Chris, Shawn, Shannon, Lori, Brandon, B.J., Trevor, Jimmy, Justin, Alyssa, Melanie, Andrew, Shane and Tiffanny, three great-grandchildren: Chantel, David and Chad. Also left to mourn: Ike Barrington, Pauline and Ben Jackman, Shirl Barrington, Cindy Cooney, Julia and William White of Maryland, Charles Ludwig of Michigan, as well as many other relatives and friends. Gillingham, William Roy
Age 64- Portugal Cove. Passed peacefully away after a short illness on February 22, 1999. Leaving to mourn his devoted, loving wife of 44 years, Mildred; one son Wallace (Tina); two cherished grandchildren; Blake and Brent; one brother Jack (Florence); two sisters; Joan (Doug Simmonds), Margaret (Ern Woolridge); sisters-in-law Eva Gillingham and Jean Hibbs, and a large circle of family and friends. Special thanks go out to Hubert Driscoll who has been our rock during this difficult period, also to Marilyn Rose for all her kindness, and to Paul Wells for all his support, and to the Telephone Pioneers who visited nightly; the Nephrology Team and Nurses of 4SA. At Roy's request, his body has been donated to Diabetes research. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church, Portugal Cove, on Sunday, February 28, 1998 at 2:30 pm. Glynn, Stanisclaus Joseph
Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 17th, 1999, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Stanisclaus Joseph Glynn, member of the Knights of Columbus, in his 79th year. Leaving to morn his living wife of 57 years, Estella (Hynes); sons; Cornelius (Bev), David (Shirley); loving daughters; Rosemary (Norman Billard) and Amelia. Also leaving to mourn eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Delaney (Stephen) and Bride Grenning; brother-in-law; Mary Glynn. MORGAN, James Francis - Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, February 14, 1999, James Francis Morgan, Foxtrap, age 36 years. Predeceased by his brother Rodney, March 1998. O'NEILL, Elizabeth, Betty (nee Kelly) - Cancer may have ravaged her body but it didn't touch her spirit or her will. She slipped quietly from this world at 8:12 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at the Health Sciences Centre. She stayed long enough to prepare us for her parting and to fill us with her strength and courage so that we might handle her death with as much dignity as she demonstrated in facing it. She is reunited with her beloved son, Dougie. Left forever to mourn her absence is husband Douglas, Bell Island; children: Edward (June), Beverly, Patricia, Rennie (Sonia), Christine, Theresa (Dave), Mary (Keith), Michelle (Curtis), Goldie (Billy) and all her grandchildren. She will be forever missed by sisters: Julia, Agnes, Mary, Jenny, Katherine; brothers: Eugene and Ignatius, as well as other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home, Bell Island. He leaves to mourn his son Max (Shirley), Corner Brook; three daughters; Mona (Leo Joseph), Shirley (Ray Fudge), Corner Brook, Muriel (Robert Hinkle), Gander; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother Noah Reid, Dildo; sister Ethel Anthony, Upper Gullies. Leaving to mourn son Douglas (Faith), Chamberlains; and daughters; Shirley Ironmonger (Richard), Quadra Island, B.C., and Daphne Keeping (Bill), Portugal Cove; along with 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also leaving sister Mildred Smith, Mount Pearl; and sisters-in-law; Muriel Auchinleck and Ruby Penney, St. John's. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home. Visitation on Wednesday, February 24, 1999; 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.. Funeral Service from St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Westerland Road at 2 pm on Thursday, February 25, 1999 with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Agnes Pratt Home or the Alzheimer's Society.

SNOW, Sidney - Passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 24, 1999. Sidney Snow of Cambridge, in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Sandy. Dear father of Michael (Mary) of Ayr, Cindy Stephens (Richard) of Waterloo, Nanette Webb, Stephanie Webb and Melvin Webb, all of Cambridge. Dear brother of Gerald of Sudbury, Edward of Branchton, Mary Atkins of Frankford, Margaret Boland of Scotland, Theresa Hynes of Ayr, Gertrude George of Bell Island, Nfld., Barbara Barrett of Plattsville and Deborah Noseworthy of Cambridge; also survived by 6 grandchildren. Mr. Snow was a former employee of Bundy Tubing. Resting at Coutts & Son Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge. The family will receive friends on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A parish prayer will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory's R.C. Left with fond and loving memories, daughter Florence Cranford (Randy), New Harbour; three grandchildren: Bradley (special friend Jennifer), Jeremy and Krista; two sisters: Rita Conway (Tom) and Theresa Power; sister-in-law Fannie Tilley; special nephew Neil Tilley and special niece Lena Dawe; also, other relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews until noon Thursday. Funeral to take place on Thursday, February 11th at 2 p.m. at All Saints Church, Foxtrap. John was the eldest son of the late Leander and Margaret Warren (nee Dwyer) of Bell Island, Nfld. Dear brother of Gwendolyn, wife of Walter Lahey Jr. of Bell Island; Peter of Bell Island; James of Toronto; Clayton of Barrie; Lawrence of Corner Brook, Nfld.; and Daniel of Cambridge. John is remembered by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as close friends. A private family service was held at Mount View Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday, February 10, 1999. Burial. Predeceased by her son Douglas Woodford (1984); brothers: Gerry, Fintan; and sister Lucy Coady (William of Harbour Brenton). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Brent, Gillian and Peter Woodford and their mother Sharon of Quispamsis, NB; and her many loving nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. from 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, February 10th, 1999 and 12 Noon to 10 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th, 1999.
