Predeceased by wife Madeline, January 16, 1999. Devoted father of son Jim (Louise); daughters: Elaine (Frank Petten), Gloria (Jim Bartlett), Catherine (Mel Strong), Brenda (Calvin Lear), and Carolanne; twenty-one grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters: Winnifred Rideout, Lucy Boggan, Angela O'Brien (Paddy); sisters-in-law: Agnes Power (John), Bride Browne. O’Brien) and Lois (Andreas Mavroyannis); six grandchildren: David (Tracey), Maria (Leon), Stephen (Glenda), Flora (Bobby), Andrea (Michael) and Melissa (Des); two dearly loved great-grandchildren Leanna and Andreas Murphy and also his dear sister Olive (Bruce Reed) of Ontario; brothers-in-law; John Murray (Margaret), Robert Murray (Jean), Beric Murray (Elaine), and Jim Burgess; special niece Louise Lawlor; also a large circle of relatives and friends. Gillingham, William Roy
Age 64- Portugal Cove. Passed peacefully away after a short illness on February 22, 1999. Leaving to mourn his devoted, loving wife of 44 years, Mildred; one son Wallace (Tina); two cherished grandchildren; Blake and Brent; one brother Jack (Florence); two sisters; Joan (Doug Simmonds), Margaret (Ern Woolridge); sisters-in-law Eva Gillingham and Jean Hibbs, and a large circle of family and friends. Special thanks go out to Hubert Driscoll who has been our rock during this difficult period, also to Marilyn Rose for all her kindness, and to Paul Wells for all his support, and to the Telephone Pioneers who visited nightly; the Nephrology Team and Nurses of 4SA. At Roy's request, his body has been donated to Diabetes research. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church, Portugal Cove, on Sunday, February 28, 1998 at 2:30 pm. Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, February 17th, 1999, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Stanisclaus Joseph Glynn, member of the Knights of Columbus, in his 79th year. Leaving to morn his living wife of 57 years, Estella (Hynes); sons; Cornelius (Bev), David (Shirley); loving daughters; Rosemary (Norman Billard) and Amelia. Also leaving to mourn eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters Betty Delaney (Stephen) and Bride Grenning; brother-in-law; Mary Glynn. O'NEILL, Elizabeth, Betty (nee Kelly) - Cancer may have ravaged her body but it didn't touch her spirit or her will. She slipped quietly from this world at 8:12 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at the Health Sciences Centre. She stayed long enough to prepare us for her parting and to fill us with her strength and courage so that we might handle her death with as much dignity as she demonstrated in facing it. She is reunited with her beloved son, Dougie. Left forever to mourn her absence is husband Douglas, Bell Island; children: Edward (June), Beverly, Patricia, Rennie (Sonia), Christine, Theresa (Dave), Mary (Keith), Michelle (Curtis), Goldie (Billy) and all her grandchildren. She will be forever missed by sisters: Julia, Agnes, Mary, Jenny, Katherine; brothers: Eugene and Ignatius, as well as other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home, Bell Island. Edward was predeceased by his wife Beatrice, March 2, 1976; daughter Doris, December 21, 1950; brother Walter Reid, Dildo; sister Anne Cranford, New Harbour. He leaves to mourn his son Max (Shirley), Corner Brook; three daughters; Mona (Leo Joseph), Shirley (Ray Fudge), Corner Brook, Muriel (Robert Hinkle), Gander; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother Noah Reid, Dildo; sister Ethel Anthony, Upper Gullies. Also leaving sister Mildred Smith, Mount Pearl; and sisters-in-law; Muriel Auchinleck and Ruby Penney, St. John's. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home. SNOW, Sidney - Passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 24, 1999. Sidney Snow of Cambridge, in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Sandy. Dear father of Michael (Mary) of Ayr, Cindy Stephens (Richard) of Waterloo, Nanette Webb, Stephanie Webb and Melvin Webb, all of Cambridge. Dear brother of Gerald of Sudbury, Edward of Branchton, Mary Atkins of Frankford, Margaret Boland of Scotland, Theresa Hynes of Ayr, Gertrude George of Bell Island, Nfld., Barbara Barrett of Plattsville and Deborah Noseworthy of Cambridge; also survived by 6 grandchildren. Leaving to mourn her husband Gerard; daughter Nicole, son Ronald; one sister Ethel Gladney (Vincent); two brothers: Tony Noseworthy (Judy) and Joseph Noseworthy; father and mother: Gus and Evelyn Noseworthy; also a large circle of relatives and friends. WARREN, John Joseph - Peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday, February 7, 1999 in his 71st year. John was the eldest son of the late Leander and Margaret Warren (nee Dwyer) of Bell Island, Nfld. Dear brother of Gwendolyn, wife of Walter Lahey Jr. of Bell Island; Peter of Bell Island; James of Toronto; Clayton of Barrie; Lawrence of Corner Brook, Nfld.; and Daniel of Cambridge. John is remembered by his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as close friends. A private family service was held at Mount View Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday, February 10, 1999. Burial. Died as the result of a tragic accident on February 10, 1999, of Fox Harbour, P.B.. Age 46 years. Leaving to mourn her husband, Maurice, of 25 years; son Shawn (Diane); daughters; Glenda (Barry) and Paula; parents; Tom and Jean Cranford (nee Pretty); brothers; Danny (Helena), Labrador City, Randy (Jeanie), Labrador City; sisters; Audrey (Dave), Hamilton, Ontario, Linda; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Died also as a result of the same tragic accident, her sister Hilda Whittle. Resting at Coombs Funeral Home, Placentia. WISEMAN, Annie - Passed peacefully away at the Escasoni Complex on February 28, 1999, age 85 years of Bell Island. Left with fond and loving memories, husband Edward who resides at the Escasoni Complex; four daughters: Eileen Lahey (Don), Madonna Kavanagh (Walter), Edna Comeau (Ashley), Regina Gale (Cecil); seven sons: Ronald (Mary), Peter (Gloria), Anthony (Diane) Raymond, Keith, Kevin, Paul (Donna), as well as a large circle of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 3/99 at 11 AM in St. Michael's Church. Interment in Roman Catholic Cemetery.

WOODFORD, Gertrude - Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on Wednesday, February 10th, 1999. Gertrude Woodford, born at Harbour Main on July 27th, 1917. Predeceased by her son Douglas Woodford (1984); brothers: Gerry, Fintan; and sister Lucy Coady (William of Harbour Brenton). She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Brent, Gillian and Peter Woodford and their mother Sharon of Quispamsis, NB; and her many loving nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Rd. from 7-10 p.m. Wednesday, February 10th, 1999 and 12 Noon to 10 p.m. on Thursday, February 11th, 1999. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mary Queen of the World Church, Topsail Rd. at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 12th, 1999. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Rd.
