BRUCE, Agnes - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother, Agnes Bruce who died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Lion's Manor in Placentia on February 27th, 2016. Agnes was born on Merasheen Island and at the age of 16 left home to pursue her dream of teaching. This dream would lead her to her future husband Ned, and both would settle in Placentia to raise six children. Having been a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, Agnes again pursued her passion for teaching and worked as a well admired and respected teacher at St. Edward's School for over 30 years. She was greatly loved by her students and to this day is referred to by a myriad of former students as their favourite teacher. Agnes created a legacy that will live on through the hearts of the many students she touched as she will always be remembered for how important and special she made them feel. Agnes was proud of her roots and loved to sing; she and her sister Christina were often called upon at social gatherings to sing the Merasheen song, written by her brother, Ernie. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, making the family cut glass dessert, playing darts, and bingo, as well as visiting her family in Ontario and Alberta. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Edward (Ned), her parents Paul and Jane Wilson, brothers Ernie (Myrtle), Gerald (Clara) and Paul (Lil), also sisters Christina (John Rose), Alice (Paddy White), Carmel (Pat McCabe), Wilhelmina (Rick Reichlmayr) and Grace (John Weeks), and her loving pet Ceasar. BUTLER (Thomas), Beverley Anne - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Beverley Anne Butler (Thomas) announces her passing at home in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, at the age of 66. Beverley is predeceased by her husband Jaye; son Jordan; her parents George and Mabel Thomas; sister Patty; brother Bud. The family gathered at the Royal Canadian Legion, Queen St., Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM, to celebrate Beve's life with her many relatives and friends. All were welcome to participate in sharing of stories and memories of Beve. As many of you know, one of Beve's passions has been the history and heritage of our town and province. In lieu of flowers, we respectfully request that a donation be made in her memory to: Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society Collection Management Fund, P.O. Box 439, 7 High Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. A2A 2J8, Attn: Audrey Burke, Collection Management. Tax receipts are available for all donations made. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service in Harbour Grace, NL, at a later date. Since the Fall of 2012, Beve battled her cancer head on - with a positive and courageous attitude. Her bravery and determination were only exceeded by her character and superb outlook. She was granted so many of her wishes since her diagnosis (not the least of which was the outcome of the last federal election) and spent her time at the things she loved most - heritage, friends, and family. She cherished her time as "Marma" and loved her daily adventures with her personal nurse - daughter-in-law Amy. Beve lived life to its fullest. She has been and will continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her. She is loved by so many people with whom she interacted. We shall love her forever, like her for always, and for as long as we are living, our Mom she will be. The family would like to acknowledge all those that so graciously provided support, food, and acts of kindness during these difficult times. There are so many, from Audrey, Susan, Alice, Nellie, Imelda and colleagues from Milcrest Academy, Daphine, Cindy, Dr. Lynette Powell, Ruth Wall, and countless others. You all know who you are and we love and appreciate all you have done. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 10 Bayley Street, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL.

Visits from Deal Noel, Reverend Paul and Canon Sheppard were of great comfort to him and his family in recent weeks. Helen was predeceased by her husband John Joseph Walsh, her sisters Sister Monica Woodrow, Mary Fortune, Alice Keough, and Bernadette Kilfoy and her stepbrother Jeremiah Woodrow, her parents John and Veronica. Helen will be sadly missed by her seven children: Veronica (Kevin), Francis (Janice), Gary, Helen, Marie (Eric), Jacqueline (Kevin) and Marylou (Dan). Also leaving to mourn are her eleven grandchildren Melissa, Shawn, Andrew, Ashley, Emily, Jason, Kyle, Benjamin, Luke, Liam, Peter and two great-grandchildren Logan and Dean. She will be fondly missed by many friends, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Helen had a large family and was the rock and glue that kept us grounded. We were all blessed to have known her. She was a beautiful and caring person who saw no fault in anyone that came in contact with her. She was married for 60 years to John Walsh who was well known around the city of St. John's as the demolition man, or the man who torn down most of old St. John's. Let it not be said that wherever there is a great man there is an equally great woman by his side. While Helen didn't work directly in the business, she worked endlessly behind the scenes. Helen was known for her strong spiritual faith, and it is the belief that prayers said from Helen could cure all miracles as these prayers were of the purest kind. Her most devoted passion was for her children and grandchildren whom she loved fearlessly. Helen also loved and enjoyed walking outdoors and many times, you would see her hike up Signal Hill, the Battery or QuidiVidi Pond. She also had a love for Irish and Newfoundland music. A special thank you for the staff at St. Patrick's Mercy Home, Health Science Complex and St. Clare's Hospital who provided exceptional care and respect to our mother and the family in their time of need. "We had a wonderful mother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful mother,
And that' s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because she's still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let's make sure she will like what she sees."

Also, thank you to physicians and staff of ICU, St. Clare's. To the nurses of 7West, we thank you for your kindness and respect. It was such a comfort to us. Those were the qualities Harold valued in people the most. Harold lived his life to the fullest. Born and raised in St. Bernard's, Fortune Bay, he started working at a very young age aboard schooners with other fishermen much older than him. Harold always worked hard and had many jobs in his life. He later went on to start his own business where he became a successful and well respected entrepreneur. Just a drive around town with him was a story of how many buildings he had worked on and how they came together. He worked very hard to provide for his family and create the career of his dreams. Harold was a true outdoors man. His happy place was on the salmon river and in the back country on his ski-doo or ATV. Oh the adventures he had! More than anything, he loved his family. He leaves them with fond memories and many lessons on living a life of integrity and determination. "Don't be afraid of nothing!" is something that he reminded his children and grandchildren of quite often. He lived those words to the end. Harold will be resting at Caul's Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road. Family Caring For Family
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be,
So he wrapped his arms around you,
And whispered, "Come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So he gave you rest,
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain,
I could not wish you back to suffer that again.
