Left to mourn are sons: Raymond (wife Rita), Burin, NL, David (wife Marion), Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Barry (wife Vera), Moncton, NB, Paul (wife Monique), St. John's; NL; daughters: May (husband Max Keats), Gander, NL, Nola (husband Robert Holloway), Clarenville, NL Grace (husband Lee Strickland), Burgeo, NL; daughters-in-law: Donna Abbott, St. John's, Lorraine Abbott, Pool's Cove, NL; also leaving to mourn sisters: Grace Inder, Judy Humphries, Muriel Starkes and brothers: Robert Humphries and Alfred Humphries; 19 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev. William Colbourne conducted funeral services at Faith United Church, Northern Arm on Friday, February 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment at the United Church Cemetery; Northern Arm. ANDREWS, Meta Carol (nee Frampton) - of St. John's. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, February 13, 2004, Meta Carol Andrews in her 87^th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband Lloyd Charles (1998). Left with fond memories, daughter Judith Brown (Howard), Fl., son Merrill (Rose Marie), loving grandchildren, James David and Paige Austin and Jeffery and Regan Andrews, precious great-grandchildren Meta, Grace, Thomas, Reed, Emily and Nora. Brother Harold Collins (Joan), special friend and caregiver Mercedes Pine, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m.-noon. A memorial service will take place on Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to be held at a later date. Predeceased by her father Stanley Rowsell. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Wallace Ball; son Ken (Marlise) Ball and children Carlie and Alia; son Keith (Susan) Ball; daughter Kathie (Darren) Eddy; mother Maisie Rowsell; sisters: Dorothy Ford (Baxter), Bernice Whelan (Michael), Christine Greenham (Raymond), Maxine Bowers (Rex); 12 brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many other close relatives and friends. He leaves to mourn with precious memories, his loving wife, Almond, of 59 years, two sons: Maurice (Cynthia) and Roger (Roma); six daughters: Selena Parsons (Arch), Doris Bowen, Ella Penney (Lin), Effie Bowen (Gary), Gwen Keeping and Verna MacDonald (Doug); 20 grandchildren: Peter, Steven, Jimmy; Vicki, Corey, Roger; Jennifer, Jeffrey, Erin; Sonya, Melissa, Krista; Adam, Justin; Andrea, Evan, Sara; Michelle, Lindsay; and Michael; 13 great-grandchildren: Dustin, Joel; Tiernan; Katharine; Reece; Sutherland, Sydney, Samantha; Allison, Mark; Brendan, Anthony and Emily; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. BRENNAN, Mr. Robert Patrick "Bob" - 1948-2004. Passed away peacefully at home in Drumheller, Alberta on February 3, 2004 at the age of 55 years. Robert will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Eleanor, and his two children Dean and Colleen. He will also be remembered by his brothers; John, Mike, Cyril, Gerald, Bill, Ron, Dave, Leo, Pat, his sisters; Bess, Ann, Kathleen, Marg, and their spouses and children. Bob will also be remembered by his many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father Ned, and his mother Mary, his brother Edward, and sisters, Mary and Rose. Robert was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a dedicated worker. He will be missed by all that knew him, for he touched many lives. CARTER, Honourable Justice Francis G. - It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of a beloved father and grandfather. The Honourable Justice Francis G. Carter of the Superior Court of Justice, K.C.S.S., of Goderich in his 82^nd year on Monday, February 2, 2004. He is predeceased by his wife, the late Marguerite Carter (2002). He will be dearly missed by his children: Leo (Rose Marie) of London, Mary van Diepen (Philip) of Parry Sound, J. Michael (Jennifer) of London, Dennis (Cheryl) of Tillsonburg, Patrick (Betty) of Owen Sound, Christopher (Carolyn), Angela all of Goderich, John Paul of London and Kathleen Riley (Gordon) of Goderich and also by his 13 grandchildren. DAVIS, Dr. Charles Carroll - died peacefully eating lunch and drinking a glass of wine, on February 25, 2004, at 92 years of age. He was predeceased in death by his ally, co-worker and wife, Sally Davis. Chuck is survived by his son Peter Davis and daughter Betsy Gimbel both living in Pennsylvania and grandchildren: Clifton Davis also of Pennsylvania and Andrea Slaski living in Hawaii. Chuck, in all he did, wished to do what seemed to him, directly or indirectly of greatest value to humanity regardless of its current popularity or unpopularity and without goals of financial gain, honors or recognition. His work was directed toward a society in which no one would have occasion to be untrustworthy. He was assisted in his work for social justice, women's issues and peace by his wife Sally who shared these views. Chuck attended Oberlin College and received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He served at a variety of universities as an educator and researcher, including Jacksonville College, University of Miami, Case Western Reserve University. He came to Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1968 where he worked in the Department of Biology and the Ocean Sciences Centre. In 1984, to the time of his death, he was Professor Emeritus at Memorial. During this period he came to work each day except weekends and Labour Day to the day of his death. While working at Memorial he did research as a visiting scientist at University of Tromso, Norway, Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, and the University of Waterloo. During his career he authored many articles on plankton, eutrophication of Lake Erie, and hatching mechanisms of invertebrates. He was a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Ohio Academy of Science, the Canadian Peace Alliance, the United Nations Association of Canada and the Canadian Society of Zoologists. Chuck's body was sent to the Memorial University Medical School at his request. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions could be sent to a peace, justice or environmental organization.

FOSNAES, Knut - 22 February 2004 at his home in Nottingham, England, halfway through his 83^rd year. Born in Rjukan, Norway, he was exiled from Norway during the German occupation. He came to Newfoundland in 1951 where he worked with Canadian National Telecommunications. He lived in Nottingham since 1972, retiring from his own green grocery in 1986. Leaving his wife Glennis, Nottingham; son Tor (Genevieve Gallant), Mobile and daughter Tana (George Simmons), St. John's; their mother Nina Marie (nee Sinclair), Mobile; granddaughters Elizabeth and Catherine Simmons; step-daughters: Deborah Cooke (Gus Cossitt), St. John's; Catherine Cooke (Paul Geroni), Vancouver; step-grandchildren: Robyn Cossitt and Connor Geroni; a host of friends, relatives, and acquaintances in Norway, England, and Newfoundland. KENNEDY, Alice - With her usual grace and no nonsense demeanor our so loved, beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend Alice (Lahey) Kennedy walked into the arms of the angels on Sunday, February 1, 2004, at the age of 78. Waiting to bring her home was her one true love our father, David. There to embrace her were her parents, Elizabeth and Edward, her siblings: Ned, Bob, Mary, Mike and Dick, as well as her sister and best friend, Bess Lacey and her husband Walter. KINSELLA, David - Passed peacefully away from complications of a stroke, at Beth Israel King's Highway Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, February 18, 2004, Dave Kinsella, formerly of Outer Cove, NL. Predeceased by father James; mother Mary (Burke); brothers: Jimmy, Jack, Pat, Mike and Rich; sisters: Margaret, Nora Gellately, Alice Wells and Mary Reilly. He will be greatly missed by nieces: Rita Reilly and Joan Reilly, both residing in Brooklyn; nephew Robert Kinsella and Sherry of St. John's; and sister-in-law Elizabeth Kinsella of Outer Cove; as well as many other relatives and friends, both in Canada and the US. Dave left Outer Cove in 1948 for Brooklyn where he resided for the past 56 years. He frequently "came home" where he enjoyed the peace and tranquility of his homeland and the company of his family and friends. He was a hard worker who enjoyed life to the fullest, was kind and good hearted and a true friend. He was an avid baseball and hockey fan, his teams of course being the Mets and Rangers. His family circle is now complete. Dave was laid to rest February 20, 2004 at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.

MORRIS, Raymond Ford - Passed away on February 26, 2004 in his 84^th year. He was born in St. Georges, Newfoundland the son of the late Harold and Christiana Morris. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Daisy, his brother Leslie Morris and sister Sybil Pelley. He is survived by his sister Elma Butler and Myrtle (Peggy) Peterson of Stephenville. A son Wayne (Susan) Morris of Toronto, a son Keith (Margaret Ann) Morris of Fredericton, a grandson Jeffrey Morris of Fredericton, four granddaughters Tara (Darren) Provencal of Ottawa and Tina Morris of Ottawa, Dawn Morris of Fredericton, Sara Morris of Fredericton and two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Amber Provencal of Ottawa. Raymond made a major contribution to agriculture, not only in Newfoundland but all across Canada, during his 37 years of service with Agriculture Canada as an Entomologist. He was inducted into the Atlantic Agriculture Hall of Fame in 1985. He received his Diploma in Agriculture from the Newfoundland Government Demonstration Farm in 1940, following which he served five years in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. In 1947 he graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from the University of Toronto and in 1955 he received his Master of Science Degree (entomology) from the University of Maine. In 1977 Ray Morris was awarded the Canadian Silver Jubilee Medal. He was an Honorary Lecturer at the Memorial University of Newfoundland is a past President of the Entomological Society of Canada. He was elected a Fellow of the Entomological Society of Canada and was appointed an Honorary Member of the Acadian Entomological Society. He was a board member and a volunteer of the VOWR Broadcasting Station in St. John's, Newfoundland. He was also an active member of Wesley United Church through the men's club, the senior choir and the men's choir. He is cherished as a much-loved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. RAYMOND, Sharon - 1965 - 2004. Sharon Ann Raymond (nee Praski), beloved wife of Kevin Raymond of Calgary, passed away at home on Tuesday; February 10, 2004, after a battle with cancer at the age of 38 years. Sharon was born on July 15, 1965 in Melfort, SK. In her lifetime, Sharon has lived in places from Vancouver Island, BC to St. John's, NF - too many to count. She loved to travel. She married Kevin on June 21, 1986 and together they had three boys. She worked at the TD Bank but was also involved with the United Way. Sharon would describe her best vacation ever as being one she took in Antigua in the Caribbean. Her favorite song was "Pictures" by Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock. She found her biggest challenge to be keeping positive in the face of cancer. Besides her loving husband Kevin, Sharon is also survived by her sons, Tyler, Nolan and Brendan; parents Helen and Zigmund Praski; sister Laurie; brother David Praski; step-sister Tracy Boynton; brothers-in-law, Ray Bandit and Vince Muhusky; sisters-in-law, Denise Muhusky and Sandy; and mother-in-law Fay Bradley. Predeceased by his father Patrick Webber; grandparents: Catherine and William Whalen, Genevieve and William Winsor. Leaving to mourn his sad loss, his mother, Ethel Webber; four brothers: Ron Whalen and Liz, Greg Webber and Sandra, Tony Webber and Pam, Walter Pine and Rosalind; four sisters: Theresa and Charlie Williams, Maureen and Valmore Stoyles, Patricia and Tom Watt, Geraldine and John Borschowa; uncles Ed Winsor and Annabell Hearns, and Kevin Winsor; special friend and careworker Loretta Pittman and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Paul and Eileen Whalen. Leaving to mourn his sisters: Mary (Bert), Lorraine (Mike), Linda (Tom); brothers: Jim (Mary), Leo (Sandra), John (Lorraine), Len (Florence), Tom, Gerard and Pat; and special niece, Brenda Story; also a large circle of other nephews and nieces and relatives. Predeceased by her husband Allan, infant son Wayne and brother Harold. Leaving to mourn son: David; daughter-in-law: Barbara; grandsons: Glen (Beth), Williams Lake, BC, Christopher (Pam), Torbay and Michael, Calgary; sisters: Rose Thorbourn and Anne Gladney (Mike) Cobourg, Ont.; in-laws: Daphne Rolls, Phyllis (Walter) Jamieson, Ken (Greta) Wheeler, June Wheeler, Mildred Wheeler, New Market, ON, Betty Bulger and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. WHITE, Mary - (formerly of Corner Brook, NL.). Passed away on February 14, 2004 at the Ina Grafton Gage Home in Toronto after a lengthy illness. She received her R.N. in 1950 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, NL. She worked at St. Clare's, the General Hospital and The V:O.N. in Corner Brook before moving to Toronto. In Toronto she worked on staff in many hospitals and later private duty at the same hospitals. She is survived by one brother: Peter White and five sisters: Annie White, Genevive Rose, Joan Moore, Marjorie Lilly and Kathleen Quigley: A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at Holy Name R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

WOODLAND, Gerald George- Passed peacefully away on Thursday, February 26, 2004, Gerald George Woodland. Aged 70 years. Predeceased by his wife Stella Kathleen Woodland (nee Toope), February 2, 1999. Leaving to mourn his son Edward Woodland; daughter-in-law Kathleen (nee Tilley); granddaughter Grace Katherine; daughter Pamela Rudkin; son-in-law Philip (Pip) Rudkin; grandson Aaron Rudkin; granddaughter Emily Rudkin; son Stephen (living in Ontario); and son Richard (living in Ontario); uncle Robert Woodland (living in Ottawa); also a number of other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held from Barrett's Chapel on Monday, March 1, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. No flowers by request. WOOLRIDGE, Lome R. - Passed peacefully away at home in the presence of his loving family early Saturday morning after a determined battle against cancer Lorne R. Woolridge, aged 55 years. Predeceased by father and mother-in-law Heber and Annie Bowering, brother-in-law Heber Bowering Jr., and sister-in-law Brenda MacFarlane-Bowering. Left to mourn with wonderful loving memories are wife Daphne, sons Craig (Deborah) and Bryan (Danielle), parents Harold and Sylvia, brother Angus (Marilyn), brother-in-law Don Bowering, sister-in-law Helen Bowering and many extended family and friends. Former Citizen of the Year for the Town of Grand Falls, life member of the Kinsmen Club, teacher and coach, he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched.
