ACKERMAN, Clifford M. - Passed away at Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarke`s Beach, on Monday, February 11, 2002, Clifford M. Ackerman of Clarke`s Beach, aged 83 years. Leaving to mourn wife Sarah; son, Wayne (Frances) of Mount Pearl; daughter, Elaine (Victor) Fowler of New Market, Ontario; six grandchildren: Kenneth, Keith, Christopher, Kara Lynn, Derrick, Natalie; three great-grandchildren: Jonah, Juliana, Victoria; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Moore`s Funeral Home, Clarke`s Beach. Visitation Tuesday 7:00 - 9:30 p.m.; Wednesday 10-12 Noon, 2-5 p.m., 7-9:30 p.m.; Thursday 10-12 Noon. Funeral Service to take place on Thursday, February 14, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. from Pentecostal Church, Clarke`s Beach. Interment in the Pentecostal Cemetery, Clarke`s Beach. No flowers by request. ANDERSON, Terry - Passed suddenly away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, February 22, 2002, Terry Anderson of Foxtrap, originally from Grand Falls, age 52 years. Leaving to mourn his wife Jackie; three daughters: Renee, Meghan, and Terilynn; son, Jonathan; brothers: Gordon (Margaret), John, Elias (Joan), Robert (Darlene); one sister, Barbara Smith (Roland); and a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Visitation on Saturday and Sunday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral notice later.

ATKINS, Annie Marjorie (nee Noseworthy) Bell Island - Passed peacefully away with her family by her side in Kitchener, Ontario on February 16, 2002, age 72 years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at St. Cyprian`s Anglican Church, Bell Island. Memorial donations may be made to St. Cyprian`s Anglican Church.

BAILEY, Dorothea - Passed peacefully away at her late residence, Martinez, Ca. Dorothea Bailey (nee Bassett). Predeceased by her parents, James and Anna Bassett; sister Marian and brother James. Leaving to mourn her loving and devoted husband, Donald; two step-daughters: Dianne DeMoss of Sunnyvale, Ca. and Joann Vondrachek of Paradise, Ca.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her sisters: Kitty Breen, Mary Molloy and Anna Bassett; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and their families. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated February 1st, 2002 at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Martinez, Ca. followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery at Lafayette, Ca. A memorial mass for the repose of her soul was celebrated at St. Paul`s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 5th, 2002 with Rev. Msgr. Denis P. Walsh presiding.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Predeceased by his father Peter; and his step-father John Wall. Left with cherished memories are his beloved wife Joanne (nee Myers); his precious daughters: Jessica and Ashley; his loving mother Rita Wall; his devoted sister Cynthia (Craig), all at Holyrood; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe and Marion Myers, Chapel`s Cove; his sister-in-law Lisa Myers (Gerry), St. John`s; also a circle of other relatives, friends and co-workers. BUELOW, Helen Mary Louise - (nee Harvey, born 08/08/1906). Passed peacefully away on February 4, 2002, at Lutheran Medical Centre, Brooklyn, New York, Helen Mary Louise, wife of the late Conrad Buelow of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin. Left to mourn their loss but to celebrate Helen`s life are her son, Conrad (wife, Judy) of Petersham, Mass. and daughter, Constance (husband, Leonard Iannacone) of Brooklyn, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Edith Iannacone Gugliemelli (husband, Robert), John Buelow (wife, Joan), Anthony Iannacone and Constance Iannacone Samways (husband Terrence); and great-grandchildren, Robert Gugliemelli and Christopher and Mary Kate Buelow. Helen, daughter of John and Georgina (Squires) Harvey, Southside Road, St. John`s, Newfoundland, was predeceased by her sisters, Bessie (Cyril) Turner, Eva (Frank) Lilly and Nina (Brian) Rees, and brothers, Jack (Vivian), George (Nell), and Frank (Rita). Cherishing joyful memories of times spent with Helen are her sister, Marie (wife of the late Fred Down), sister-in-law, Rita, nieces (especially Elizabeth Pike and Florence Samson), nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and other relatives and friends in Canada and the U.S.A. including her son-in-law`s mother, Ida Iannacone. Arrangements for cremation were by Cosgrove Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A celebration of Helen`s life and the sacrament of Holy Communion took place at St. John Episcopal Church, 99th Street and Fort Hamilton, February 7, at 10:30 a.m. Afterwards, family and friends continued their celebration at New Corners Restaurant, a favorite family gathering place. Inurnment took place May 19 at the Columbarium, St. John`s Episcopal Church, Brooklyn, N.Y. Family and friends from Newfoundland gathered at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the site of the old St. Mary`s Anglican Church, Southside Road, St. John`s, with Constance and Leonard for a memorial service conducted by the Rev. Darrell Critch. Next day, they attended morning service at St. Mary`s Church, Craigmillar Avenue, and later reminisced during dinner with an exchange of Helen stores.

BUGDEN, Rhoda - Passed peacefully away at St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Sunday, February 24, 2002, Rhoda Bugden, aged 91 years. Predeceased by her husband Monroe, 1981; son David Bugden, 1992. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughter-in-law Sylvia Bugden; four grandsons: Gary, Don (Heather), Bob (Sheri) and Greg (Nancy); great-grandchildren: Stephanie, Stephen, Shanna, David and Leah; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Other members of her family left to celebrate her life are her sisters: Leah (Jim) Norman, Thunder Bay, Ontario and Lyla (Ray) Keating, Long Harbour; her darling daughter Samantha and Samantha`s father Randy Power; her nephews: Steve and Josh Keating and nieces: Nikita and Amber Norman; her boyfriend Colin Burke; the members of the Walsh and Edwards families, her biological family; her many relatives and the many, many friends she made during her short life. BYRD, Pauline (O`Reilly) - Passed peacefully away after a brief illness, on February 18, 2002, at The Palliative Care Centre, St. Clare`s Hospital, in St. John`s, Pauline Byrd (nee O`Reilly), aged 84 years. Predeceased by husband Andrew, son Michael, and sister Mary Simms. Left with loving memories are her sons Jim (Carol), Andy (Brenda), Bill (Robert Milkovich), special son Patrick and her daughters Mary (Dick Neville), Pauline (Tim Howlett) and Cathy; much loved grandchildren Jim & Michael Byrd, Susan & Alison Byrd, Meghan & Andrew Howlett and Catherine Neville; her sister Kay Butch (New Jersey); sister-in-law Rita Mullowney (St. John`s); very special life-long friend Betty Roach; nieces and nephews in the Simms and Butch families, and a wide circle of other family, friends and neighbours. CLARKE, Edwin Leavitt - Formerly of Melrose and Scituate, Massachusetts. Passed away on February 22, 2002 at the age of 96. Since 1995, Mr. Clarke had been a resident of the Evanswood Centre for Older Adults, Kingston, Massachusetts. Born in St. John`s, Newfoundland, Mr. Clarke was educated there at Methodist College, after which he came to the United States and graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in electrical engineering. His work included engineering work for the Montreal Engineering Company, American District Telegraph Company, and, for over 17 years, Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, from which he retired in 1971. Mr. Clarke was active in the Masons and the Trinity Church in Melrose. He was the husband of Mary Stetson Clarke, community activist and author of historical novels for young adults, who passed away in 1994. He is survived by a brother, W. Lloyd Clarke of Kingston, Ontario, Canada; a sister, Louise Clarke Stetson of Hyannis, Massachusetts; three children, Edwin Stetson Clarke of Fairbanks, Alaska, Susan Stetson Clarke of Somers, New York, and Joyce Russell Hockman of Scituate, Massachusetts; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., April 20, 2002 at the First Parish Unitarian Church, 24 River St. (off Rt. 123), Norwell, Mass. Born in St. John`s, NF, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Sara (Riggs) Clark. She attended Wesley Memorial United Church and was a life member of the UCW within the church. Vera was a member of the Pythian Sisters Jennie Miller #20 and Sunset #36, a member of the order of the Eastern Star, Frank H. Tingley #5 Chapter, and a member of the Mary Crisp Chapter of the I.O.D.E. She will be forever remembered by her husband John A. Duncan; two daughters: Leona and her husband Ken O`Blenis of Dartmouth, NS, and Beverly Duncan of Riverview, NB; son, Sam Duncan and his wife Pauline of Dartmouth, NS; sister, Violet and her husband Robert Parsons of Mount Pearl, NF; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews. LOPEZ, MacLELLAN - PARROTT, James - Peacefully on February 15th, 2002 at 17 years of age he left us to be with God. He will be sadly missed by his mother Susan Parrott, his step-dad David Parrott and his father Jim MacLellan and wife Yvette. Dear brother of Cordell MacLellan; Tara, Mitchell and Jason Parrott. James leaves behind grandmother Mary Hickey (O`Donnell`s) and Angela Parrott (Mount Carmel). James will be missed by a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins from all over Canada. James had many physical limitations in life but no limits when it came to the number of people whose lives he touched. James was an honour student at St. Thomas of Villanova (Winsor, Ontario). James called Sudbury, Ontario home for the first 10 years of his life and moved to Winsor in 1994. He was an extremely social person who loved to talk with all his friends. He enjoyed school dances and activities. Two of James` loves in life were country music and professional wrestling and he was a life long fan of both. There wasn`t a lyric he couldn`t sing or a wrestler he didn`t know. If you so desire, donations to the Burial Fund in memory of James would be appreciated by the family. PICKETT, Martha Gaye - Passed peacefully away on Saturday, February 23, 2002 in her eighty-seventh year. She was born in Lumsden, spent her childhood in Port Union and lived as a teenager in Worcester, Massachusetts, before returning to Newfoundland. Martha worked for the Federal Government for thirty years as a postal clerk in Bishop`s Falls where her husband, Leroy Pickett, served as postmaster. Upon her retirement, she was awarded an honourary life membership in the Postal Heritage Club for her contributions to the postal union. She served, too, on the School Board for the Bishop`s Falls Amalgamated School. She especially liked to garden and travel. Martha was a gifted homemaker - vivacious, loving and a joy to be with. Leaving to mourn: her adoring daughter and only child, Sandra (Gunter) Kromm of St. John`s; grandchildren Andrea and Eric Penney; two sisters: Lee (Cyril) Harmon of Boston and Nancy (Leslie) Baker of Port Rexton. WATSON, Latimer Stuart "Tim" - 88, Halifax, died Monday, February 11, 2002, in the Camp Hill Veterans` Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Winnipeg, Man., he was a son of the late Stuart and Mary (Denison) Watson. After completing his education Tim joined the insurance industry with the Canadian Indemnity Co. in 1933. At the outbreak of the Second World War, Tim joined the Canadian Navy serving in Newfoundland and overseas, retiring as a Lieut. Commander. Rejoining Canadian Indemnity in 1945 his career took him to Toronto, Montreal and Halifax until retirement in 1970. Tim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Daphne (Winter); son Trevor and wife Cynthia; daughter Andrea and husband Roger Teed; grandchildren: Sonya and David Watson, Alison Webb; brother Bruce, Cobourg, Ont. Predeceased by his mother Christina J. Williams, 1987; and his sister Dorothy, 1944. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 30 years and best friend Margaret; daughter Krista and husband Chris Butt; son Blair; father John H. Williams, Corner Brook; three sisters: Jennetta Head (Michael), Grand Cache, Alberta, Geraldine Young (Norman), and Marjorie Way (Aubrey), both of Corner Brook; four brothers: Donald (Marina), Dartmouth, N.S., Frederick (Fronie), Fort McMurray, Alberta, John (Roma), St. John`s, NF, and Derek (Diane), Moncton, N.B.; mother-in-law Blanche Mitchell, St. John`s; and brother-in-law Max Mitchell, St. John`s; and a circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. - 12 noon Thursday. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughter Marina Hickman (John); son James Winsor (Myrna); grandchildren: Ashley, Robert and Jennifer Hickman; Bryan and Wade Winsor; sister Hazel Whalen of Jonesborrow, Georgia; also a number of other special relatives and friends.
